spence_johnson 5 Posted November 6, 2013 Striking through text is too much of a pain. I am using the latest version of the Mac desktop software. 5 Share this post Link to post
1 C6REW 416 Posted November 6, 2013 Hi Spence and welcome to the forums, Didn't realise it was not there on the Mac, very annoying. Got it on my Windows computer and use it all the time, would certainly be lost if I had to be without it. Regards Chris Share this post Link to post
0 sovalinc 0 Posted December 14, 2013 YES... PLEASE add this for Evernote on the Mac!!!!!!!!! We NEED strike through, how simple can that be? Share this post Link to post
0 spence_johnson 5 Posted December 16, 2013 You can strike through by going to format > show fonts, but I cannot figure out a way to get a button on the toolbar. It's slow the way it is set up. If you can strike through on the interface for this forum easily, you should be able to do so in the EN software. Share this post Link to post
0 sovalinc 0 Posted December 16, 2013 Spence, Yes, that does work and is how I strike through. BUT... the issue remains, strike through button is needed. Share this post Link to post
0 Thomas Geist 0 Posted December 28, 2013 Yes, PLEASE!! Even the iPhone has it ... Share this post Link to post
0 _andrewstewart 0 Posted January 14, 2014 This is definitely needed! Anything in the web and iOS versions should really be implemented in the, one would assume, more powerful desktop release. Share this post Link to post
0 afly 2 Posted January 23, 2014 Bit bonkers that its missing, even this forum editor has a strikethough option! ctrl + cmd + k toggles strikethrough on the selected text. Bit of a combo to remember but thats enough for me Share this post Link to post
0 Martin Packer 162 Posted January 23, 2014 BTW the web version has Strikethrough in a slightly obscure place - when there's no need for it to be. Likewise subscript and superscript and a couple of others. But it's THERE. Share this post Link to post
0 stephiestylings 0 Posted May 12, 2014 Yes, I agree! Please add strikethrough feature. Soooo important for keeping track visually. Check marks just don't cut it. Share this post Link to post
0 ThatGuyJeff 1 Posted May 28, 2014 On the Windows version of Evernote, the strikethrough text button is on the toolbar. On the Mac, for whatever reason, this is hidden and only accessible through menus. This is really annoying. I use this option all the time, and would prefer this in the toolbar. Ideally the text editing toolbar would be the same and/or customizable. 1 Share this post Link to post

I think the shortcut is preferable to the menu, so at least we have that 1 Share this post Link to post

0 elmariachi 0 Posted December 4, 2014 In 6.0 for Mac, I can't even see an option in the font menu anymore - please bring it back and surface it on the font bar! Share this post Link to post
0 War Eagle 36 Posted December 10, 2014 Heck I can't even see the "Show Fonts" menu... how did you find that inside a new note text field?? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
0 BennyB 0 Posted December 13, 2014 Complete Formatting option for editing text. Please put back. Share this post Link to post
0 pommiejon 0 Posted June 22, 2015 +1 Keeping this topic alive. I also would very much like this feature. Mac User. Alternatively please make the Format bar customisable. Thank you. Share this post Link to post
0 heinet1 1 Posted November 18, 2015 Yep - keep this alive. Even mimicking the formatting options on THIS FORUM would be ideal. Strikethrough, Superscript, Subscript: all very very useful and annoying to add in current version of Evernote for Mac. Share this post Link to post
0 kodymcdonald 3 Posted January 11, 2016 The windows version of Evernote has the strikethrough option on the main task bar, but on the Mac version the fastest way requires you to click through some menus. This would really speed things up. 3 Share this post Link to post
0 Nics 1 Posted January 11, 2016 6 years and no strikethrough button on Mac yet - come on!!! Share this post Link to post
0 sovalinc 0 Posted January 11, 2016 Hey Nics, I agree. So maybe you should try OneNote. We've pretty much moved there, better organization, great structure with section groups, sections, tabs, notebooks, and pages, plus all the normal formatting features. Only thing missing in OneNote is reminders. I did love Evernote and was an evangelist for many years, but just had to give up. I'm not a big fan of "tags" and in EN you must live tags. Well each to his own but I'm a convert to OneNote now and quite happy. Ubiquitous, Android, IOS, OSX, Browser, and free... can't really go wrong! Sorry Evernote :-/ Share this post Link to post
0 taguntumi 2 Posted May 13, 2016 Yes please. I've made a Keyboard Maestro keyboard shortcut for this but it is a massive ommission. I'm hopeful they are looking at the whole rich text editor on the Mac as it sucks. As well as the no strikethrough. What about more highlight color options, just yellow is not enough. Also more font options, sizes between 14 and 18. Share this post Link to post

0 eightykr 1 Posted September 8, 2016 Evernote is awesome! Use it all the time for collecting research, notes, organization, the world, etc. I find myself creating to-do lists for the week all the time and personally love the strikethrough feature. But, to strikethrough text I have to highlight, right-click, hover, and select strikethrough. Why not, highlight and click the strikethrough? Or even better, highlight and cmd + k or some other shortcut to strikethrough. Strikethrough vs. checkbox is the new tabs vs. spaces; strikethrough is very visible and less prone to error; checkboxes can be unchecked with a single click and not as visible. - a grateful 'spaces' fan feature request sent ps - this textbox has strikethrough! 1 Share this post Link to post
0 DHS 0 Posted September 12, 2016 I have a number of notes that I use as to-do lists and I like to strikethrough them as I complete them. For some reason on the Mac version, the Format->Style->Strikethrough will not be active. Nor does the shortcut do anything. On the Windows version I can highlight the same text and strikethrough it just fine. Any one else see anything similar or have any ideas on how to fix? Share this post Link to post

0 pgdahl 132 Posted January 27, 2017 This has been requested for years and years. It has been made abundantly clear that Evernote is not going to implement this. For unknown reasons. To be diplomatic. Share this post Link to post

0 trenchantly 14 Posted January 29, 2017 It's ridiculous that there are so many fundamental design differences on Mac and Windows. And, ironic that it's an option on this web editor but not the Mac App. Do Windows users need to strikethough more than Mac users? Share this post Link to post

0 ndhanthro 0 Posted January 9, 2018 Hi - I have what I think should be a relatively simple feature request, to achieve better parity between the Mac and PC versions (I use a PC at work and a Mac at home). Can you please add the strikethrough formatting option to the Mac formatting toolbar? It's in the PC version: But not the Mac one. Thanks in advance Natalie Share this post Link to post
0 TheM 0 Posted March 5, 2018 Desperately needing that strikethrough button on all platforms for all people that I collaborate with. It only exists on iphone and windows desktop? That's strange. Android app, Mac desktop... lets get the button in there please! Share this post Link to post

0 Allison Jaynes 0 Posted August 6, 2018 You have every other common formatting option up there (underline, bold, italic, font color) but you stop before adding strikethrough - why? This is a productivity app, meant in part to keep lists! I use the keyboard shortcut, but would love to see strikethrough text up on the main formatting bar. Share this post Link to post

0 rezecib 91 Posted August 6, 2018 I'm guessing it's the non-beta web client (which is using the older editor since the new one broke a while back). Edit: looks like it must be the Mac client, actually @Allison Jaynes You can get those extra formatting options back in the beta either web client, which you can opt into from the settings page. (the beta is missing a few features itself at the moment, but those should get in eventually). You could also try the checkbox lists (and then check completed items instead of doing strikethrough on bulleted/numbered lists). Share this post Link to post

0 rezecib 91 Posted August 6, 2018 @s2sailor Hm, you're right, it's missing there too. You can still do it with ctrl+cmd+k (or via the Format>Styles menu), but it's not in the formatting bar. Share this post Link to post

0 Randen Montalvo 9 Posted August 7, 2018 I would love a strike through behavior for IOS on the ipad pros, i find it dubious that when check off a TODO list no strike through nor the task erases. Share this post Link to post
0 Shanta 5 Posted September 28, 2018 At least allowing us to add it to the toolbar or a drop down to access them. 1 Share this post Link to post

0 echo 39 0 Posted November 10, 2018 For clarification I would say (because I have the same concern and observation), the request is for the Mac desktop version. I use Evernote across multiple devices and I do not see strikethough on the toolbar on the Mac desktop app. And I really wish it was. Share this post Link to post
0 Walder 11 Posted January 27 +1. I also want to use it via button on the toolbar. Actually Cmd+Ctrl+K is OK for me but not for my wife. Share this post Link to post
0 Walder 11 Posted January 27 Did you check general Mac's keyboard shortcuts? Maybe Command + Control + K is for something another in your system and because of it does not work in Evernote. System preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts Share this post Link to post
0 ErinFlight 0 Posted August 17 Six years later and a strikethrough button has still not been added to the mac version of evernote. Is there some reason this is particularly difficult to implement? It seems like such an odd thing to exclude, especially over years of updates. I will note that a strikethrough button is clearly visible in the box used to make this comment. Like so.
