  1. There's no exact Evernote match; you should identify which features are important for yourself I'm a long time user of the Mac Evernote Legacy product For myself, important features are - platforms supported; for me Mac and iPad - Data is not locked in, I can export when required - Documents are stored in the format entered, and not converted to a proprietary format - Organization features with tags supported - Scripting integration; I use Applescript ...
  2. For backup purposes, I use the Evernote Legacy product to export my notes (20k+) I use the html option, with attachment files exported in their native format For switching to another app, enex format has become the de facto standard
  3. Can you explain how you copy/paste? I use the share menu, and end up with an image attachment file in Evernote (iPad)) btw I prefer the Notability app for handwriting and sketching
  4. I think we're long past the email thing >This, in my opinion, is a type of in-app advertising, ... interferes with my space in a negative way ... which is something I usually pay to avoid. Paying works (for top tier); or ... switch to a different product 🙂
  5. I add emoji to the note title The screenshot is my daily journal note titles
  6. My solution was Mac Folder Actions triggering an Applescript And I still use this today with the Evernote Legacy product >>As part of that script it would set the note's Date Created to match the file's Date Created so that I could easily find and sort documents by their date created. I store Subject date by prefixing to the note title; example 2021-07-01 Sample
  7. The export function is not supported by the web software Use the Windows or Mac desktop software
  8. See https://nektony.com/how-to/uninstall-evernote for a manual and automatic solution They recommend the app AppCleaner. It's what I use
  9. What devices/platform are you using? The export feature is supported on Windows and Mac platforms
  10. fwiw My solution is to add a "Subject Date" to my notes by prefixing the date to the title, for example 2021-07-01 Statement [Shaw Internet] .... For payment date, I use the Reminder feature
  11. I moved this discussion to the Feature Request Forum To indicate support, use the vote button at the top left corner of the discussion I added my vote
  12. By design, Evernote defines a "piece of information" as a note ** There's no "blocks" ** With the new v10 tasks feature, Evernote has introduced a tasks entity This is stored as a piece of information within the the note contents (a block?)
  13. You can't just "restore the DB" This only impacts the local copy; the cloud continues to be the master To do a mass restore on the cloud requires a local export/import This creates a new set of notes, that will sync to the cloud The old set of notes will have to be deleted
  14. I did a restore of the raw local database folder from my backups (Mac Time Machine) edit: both Legacy and v10 This was offline from the internet; no danger of being overwritten in the server sync process) Success While offline, I duplicated the notes I wanted to restore Going back online and syncing; my duplicate notes were preserved
  15. As discussed above, Evernote v10 maintains a local copy of our data It's used for offline access; limited use for "restoration" As per the topic of this discussion; I use the export feature for data backups This is my solution for restoring data after failure btw There are different types of failure, ranging from accidentally deleting notes to Evernote shutdown Do you have a plan on how to use the "OFFLINE hard-copy" for restoration
  16. Evernote does not have an archive function My process with notebooks/tags is to prefix the name with an x The entry is still in the list, but sorts to the bottom I also flag notes by assigning a tag (!Archive) This allows the notes to be excluded from searches
  17. I'm interested in hearing details on your tag system For myself, I'm applying tags at the note level, and using a single tag per note
  18. Offline notebooks for mobile platforms is a paid subscription option in Evernote (Legacy and v10) Offline notebooks for desktop platforms (Mac/Windows) is supported for all account levels It's optional for the v10 product; set in Evernote > Preferences
  19. Tagging certain sections is not possible with the current database structure Evernote would have to develop a new database entity In the meantime, we can implement keywords into our contents like kw-Sample
  20. To be honest, I don't know if EN is working on adding the delete option For me, delete is necessary Fortunately, I'm using a Mac and using folder actions to process an import folder
  21. Install the Legacy product from https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote This installs the app named "Evernote Legacy" (we can"t have two apps named Evernote) It also does't auto upgrade to v10
  22. Is Bookshelf an Android thing? Please provide some details Also, I understand stacks, notebooks; but not the reference to "pages" For myself, the notebook/tag trees provide organization I also have select tags/notes/searches in the shortcut section I also reflect hierarchy in the tag names
