  1. Why not ? IMHO there is just still too much „essential“ stuff left on the Backlog than to dive into this. But maybe one of the coders has some time to spare 😎
  2. I believe the energy was always there. But it lacked orientation, that means vision and goals. Energy without targets just creates movement - but at the end you will find yourself somewhere else, and at the same time somehow still where you have been. Good to see that this vital element is now back and drives the return to the top.
  3. My tag structure is 2 levels deep. The top level is just category and helps with housekeeping, and not applied to notes. Until the tag experience is unified especially between those OSes I use (iOS, MacOS and Win10, in sequence of usage), it does not make sense for me to really „deep-tag“.
  4. Thanks again for sharing. I specially liked the clear statement here about tags: Straighten and improve the experience over devices, but not twisting the concept. Now off to the fireworks !
  5. It is like sitting in a restaurant, everybody with his meal in front of him. Because it is crowded, you may sit with people you do not know. And while you try to cut a bite from your steak and wonder about the knife they gave you, the guy beside you starts to promote his pick of a spoon as the solution for all troubles. Maybe it serves him well for his soup ... And it is NO solution to put my steak into a blender, just to make it spoon-able 🤯
  6. Somehow I feel a slight pressure applied on me by this selected pressure group here in this thread to conclude this research. Will do it tomorrow, I promise 👨‍🎨
  7. From my perspective, EN is designed to rely heavily on a syncing process. If using a mobile client, everything depends on sync. Thus I would rather prefer the link-to-solution over a full storage of videos in the EN database. Although it is possible, I do not think it was designed with this in mind. Another issue is that notes of that size nibble away from the upload limit. I once retagged a larger number of notes containing larger PDFs. Just tags and in some cases a little text of the Title was changed, but it counted the full note size including the pdf as if newly created. It was the only month ever I came close to my upload limit. Is there really nothing like Lightroom or similar used for fotos available and quasi-standard for archiving videos ?
  8. @vandevyver What issue do you have ? The thread started with the „keychain“ notification, now it is the „unexpected spotlight quit“. The keychain-issue seems to be solved by updating to 7.11., with a complete reinstall. If you have no local notebooks, that are not synced up to the server, you can make a final sync, run the reinstall through a complete delete, installing 7.11, get into your account and have it sync with the cloud server. Depending on your data base size and internet connection, this may take a while. Nick L. from EN (he is staff, not a user like us) posted a very good description of all the steps above. If you have local notebooks, you can either set them to non-local and have them synced, or you have to take care of them yourself. If you have the „unexpected quit“, there is currently no solution. As soon as there is, it will probably be posted here. If you mark Nicks account to be followed by yours, you will get the info pushed at you on release.
  9. Up to now, the workaround is to go back to iOS 12. EN is working on a beta that will work together with the iOS and iPadOS /13 betas. If interested to be involved in this, you can register for the EN beta program. Then, they will throw the release on you as soon as it is ready.
  10. Will make it easier for you: Gödel (Austrian) proved that no system of logic can be without inconsistency. The reason for that is that is necessarily based on axioms, that are assumptions that can not be proven or falsified. Turing (British) proved that no (computer) program that fulfills some basic conditions (which all modern software fulfills) can predict if, when initiated, it will stop one day. If it is not even able to predict whether it will reach its own stop condition, it can not predict to be free of bugs. Conclusion: There is no software free of internal inconsistencies, and there is no way to create software that will find all (!) bugs. So there is no SW free of bugs, it just may be that they were not uncovered yet. So far with mansplaining. I think were we all agree that known bugs should be eliminated, and that some of us even pay money to finance for this, among other things. Have a good day !
  11. It is possible as well to use a standard backup program and simply backup the database folder as it is. On my PC, I run a solution by Acronis and have set up a job that just saves the EN folder to my NAS with a higher frequency than the rest of the PC. I do a full copy on this job, incremental does not make much sense. It allows to specify how many copies back you want to keep, and starts do delete older ones automatically. Cheaper than permanently buying more disks and NAS extensions ...
  12. Thanks for sharing. Will boost the economy worldwide, because employees have to cut their lunch breaks and meetings short, to be back before the screensaver kicks in. Evernote sales goes through the sky because employers install it as efficiency tool etc. 😱😎😂
  13. What shall we vote for here ? That a beta must be crash-proof ?
  14. Just tried it: Created a note Drag & Drop of a Screenshot, sync => not indexed Added title plus one line of text into the note itself, sync => indexed If it was indexed because the text was added, or just needed the time it took me to type some words I do not know. At least on my Mac, indexing seems to work.
  15. Yes, it will consume the limit. I have scanned a lot of stuff since last year. A 100 Page Training documentation, b/w, with few graphics and no pictures will take about 20MB as pdf. Make 2 of them, and a few others, and you are done. There is one possible workaround: First scan everything, but always send it into local notebooks only, that will not sync with the server. When there is a good stock of notes accumulated, get Premium just for one month. Wait until it is active, then set the local notebooks to synced ones (or move the notes to new, synced notebooks). Let it run - 10GB sync will take a while. Then downgrade again, if you do not want to pay the Premium for longer. Even when back to basic, EN will keep what is on the server. You loose all of the Premium functions, but your notes will still be there for you. Just avoid one thing: Altering these notes. If you change a note (and if it is just a comma), it will count as if the complete note was just freshly uploaded.
  16. In fact it seems the app does restart every time it is activated again, even when it was all the time Open in the background. Thus it avoids freezing, but as well sets back all user info. Currently the best workaround seems to be to keep the EN app active in split screen mode. Probably with iPadOS, the situation will fundamentally change, because it will allow for more multitasking. I doubt that there will be a fix on this before.
  17. Just to be sure of that: We are discussing here one user to the other. We have different perspectives, which may lead to not agreeing to each other. But each perspective has its own value, and should be respected as such. From my side, I agree that a web address should be part of a structured data set holding business contacts. Maybe it is not there because EN used to have a cooperation with LinkedIn. So they used to load related information like this fresh from the LI-profile of a person. This cooperation got cut a few weeks ago. Maybe the business card function did not get a necessary update yet to adapt it to the new situation. Personally, this communication with LI was the main reason for me NOT to use EN for my business cards. I am using an app on my iPhone, that will work as a sort of rolodex on its own, plus create profiles in the iOS contacts. By this I have full control over where the information comes from, and where it goes. A price I pay is that sometimes the OCR is off a bit, which means that mail and web addresses will not work as expected. This is especially true when the business card had some creative drive applied to it. In these cases, the approach trough LI made life easier for those who decided to hand their contact data over to these guys ...
  18. Good that you use one to handle your PWs. But sometimes they create an issue, and because you have positive experience with it, you maybe do not notice. Using 1Password myself, and sometimes I have to give it an assist.
  19. iaWriter is available on the Mac as well, but much more expensive that on the iPad. So if one can switch devices, it is o.k. to use the iPad for the job. If you are not a heavy user, the Mac apps are often simply too expensive for an occasional job. This is similar with many other apps - I hope that by the new feature of Catalina (ex Marzipan), there will be more and more affordable apps flowing from the iPad to the Mac.
  20. If you have a strong password unique to your account, it should alone protect your data. Activate 2FA is the best next step. First it will create an additional factor to access your account. Secondly, it will notify you whenever somebody tries to get into your account. As being on BASIC, you have to use Google authenticator to create the 2FA-codes. P.S. And the bad guys (using credential stolen elsewhere) use VPN / proxies, and exchange the device ID to make people think it was a mobile that entered. Most likely, it was a server or desktop, nowhere near to the places listed, trying this on a number of accounts running on an automated process, using stolen data from breaks into other services (EN is up to now not known for breaches).
  21. Yes, maybe .... Most likely you have entered by accident another login, that you used to have. Thus you now have 2 accounts, one of them fresh and empty.EN will just create a new account, without you noticing. Make sure you are where you want to be.
  22. As a work around, I use iaWriter on my iPad Pro. But it means a more complicated workflow, and the need to jump between apps to and fro.
  23. ... if you do not have local notebooks, this is true. If you read through the thread, not everybody seems to be aware of that. Depending of your setup, you may not need the local backup, or you may have to fall back to it. Very bad, if you do not know about it before you pull the plug, and make a complete reinstall.
