Evernote legacy ending on 2024-03-23
PinkElephant replied to Alxa's topic in Evernote General Discussions
It is sort of a nonsense list this way - the TOC that was now introduced NEVER existed in any prior version. First it is a TOC inside of a single note, pointing to anchors inside of the note. Legacy only had a TOC of several notes, and no anchors inside of notes. Second it is easily possible to insert a TOC of several notes in v10. It is simply wrong to do as if it would not be possible. Third the new TOC was introduced in both desktop clients, Mac and Windows. Opposite to legacy, where new features (if there ever were new features at all) were always only introduced in one of the clients. Code sharing was not possible in that crooked app generation. -
And ? Posting without any sense. What do you want to share with the community ?

Fixed link to open an fresh note? Like a bookmark.
PinkElephant replied to Karl Dietrich's topic in Evernote Integrations
This won’t work - a note link is unique, leading to a specific note. Once used, the note is not empty any more The usual way to get a new note fast is the EN helper on desktop (the little icon in TaskManager or MenuBar), or a widget on mobile. -
iCal is not yet an option, and we have no indication that it will be added. You can sync your Apple Calendar with Google, and then sync the Google Calendar with EN. Personally I don’t - I don’t trust Google.

Ability to disable Skitch Camera Shutter sound
PinkElephant replied to michael99's question in General Feature Requests
Thanks for posting. Actually this thread was about the Skitch app, that EN provided for iOS and Mac at the time this thread was created. Who has it still installed can continue to use it - but in general the app is now deprecated. Your solution looks as if it is from a Windows PC. For PC and Android Skitch was not available. -
You can’t send emails at support. You need to issue a ticket. You know you have a ticket when you got a confirmation with a ticket number. And yes, support experience currently is slow at best. In most cases I experienced it to be useless, at least up to my area of experience with my tickets. On the other hand the EN team is really fast these days with fixes 😀. But it comes with a flood of releases 🙁. And sometimes it seems for each 🐞 squeezed there are 2 new 🐞 🐞 introduced 😡 .

Currently it is desktop and web only. They say they are working on mobile, so probably we will see it there as well. You can collapse lists as well. You can’t include lists into a TOC. It still is not recommended to create very long notes. Performance and handling is better when notes are kept shorter. It’s called a note, not a novel.

Good you found the route yourself. Free is a trial, not meant for continued use. Probably you still had more than 1 notebook, which locks new note creation even when below 50 notes.

Tag Sorting in v10
PinkElephant replied to FredJ's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
The listing you show is obviously sorted by the number of note the tag is applied to. The idea of the Home widget is to dynamically offer the tags most used - which may or may not be helpful. Since there was not Home in legacy, there is no way of comparing a v10 Home widget with anything legacy had. In the left panel the sorting is by alphabet. If you want a different sort than by numbers in the Home widget, you can ask for it through feedback@evernote.com -
Several. My scanner was delivered with a copy of Abby Fine Reader. This is professional grade OCR, but it will only work on files build by the scanner software. For the occasional OCR I use "owlOCR". It is a Mac app, that does some tricks on pictures and pdfs. In many cases MacOS support grabbing text from pictures natively.

The slash will be followed by the drop down list immediately, no matter if at the beginning of a line, or somewhere in the middle. If it is followed by anything that does not lead to an existing item, it will be folded right away. Sometimes it is not obvious - for example an X will show the checkbox option. If the combination makes sense, it will stay open, reduced to the still possible commands. When you type the 8th character, it will go away, even if what is typed is still matching an option. Unless you press "ENTER" nothing will be inserted. Conclusion: If you manage to ignore it, in most cases nothing will be inserted. However I agree it would be good to be able to switch it off by a setting.

Tag Sorting in v10
PinkElephant replied to FredJ's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Tags are in general sorted alphabetically. You can try to put a „period“ ( .myimportanttag ) at the beginning to make a tag appear on top. -
Yes, it needs to wipe the local data. You can check whether there are duplicates. Look up the database path in the Finder - XXX is your user name (it likely is a hidden folder, you need to unhide it if it is not already done): /Users/XXX/Library/Application Support/Evernote If you see more than one user in this location (arrow), you have either several accounts registered, or several database duplicates.

How to change double spacing to single spacing
PinkElephant replied to SpacecoastWalt's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Yes, the current team is a permanent source of surprises. Many are pleasant, some surprising - but there is a bunch that I find annoying. The unexplained GUI changes are among these.
