  1. It is usually more difficult (and expensive) to reduce a complex product by taking away features, than to develop the same bottom up. Too many dependencies, and in the end you deliver software that will be more prone to a buggy behavior than without the downgrade. And what for ? You don't gain many users unless you rebate it a lot - and then you don't gain a lot of money by getting a lot of users. EN has been there, by allowing the grandfathered subscriptions to continue over years.
  2. There are enough apps in the basic note taking segment of the market. Many of them are offered by indie devs or small outfits with a narrow cost footprint. From a business viewpoint it probably makes no sense to downgrade a complex product just to compete in this field.
  3. The app is not build for basic note taking. Simple as that, good luck.
  4. Yes, we all feel an impact from EN support being very slow since last summer. Many issues we can help solving - but account and payment issues are out of reach. Communication with support will be entirely based on emails exchanged. They will come back to you, but it can take ⚔️💣👿 ⚡️ 🤬 long.
  5. The versions working with iOS 12 (and older) have been discontinued. It may be you can still download the client, but it will never again connect with the server. The interface for the legacy clients has been closed on the 23rd of March.
  6. You can only try to get assistance by support. Chances are dim, however. And support reaction time is pretty long these days. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  7. Yes, I understand there is a certain frustration when switching between 2 app generations that are at least 10 years apart in their philosophy. Who was with v10 from day one like myself got them more step by step. No way around adapting workflows. Don’t hesitate to come asking.
  8. AFAIK you can’t. Both belong to the same client, and use the same zoom factor.
  9. My shooter of choice for the Mac is Shottr. Menu bar app, with a ton of options. You can’t create a note directly, of course. If you want to send screenshots to EN, save them into an Import Folder.
  10. AI Edit is still a beta test. As such anything can go wrong. The usual dance is log out / log in, maybe with a quit the app / restart the computer and uninstall the app / restart the computer. When this fails, you will only find answers with support.
  11. Your question has been answered already: You retain access to all existing notes and can even edit them. You can’t create new notes, and you can’t move them. https://evernote.com/blog/evernote-free-note-limits
  12. If you do more of the same, you get more of the same. Which in the case of EN led into a chronical lack of profitability, and finally in being sold / taken over. I doubt anybody wants more of the doing that led to this result ...
  13. EN does not support multi tasking with the mobile client. It will show, but not handle the reduced screen real estate. The mobile client was not optimized for tablets, and especially not for the iPads own way of multitasking. So it adapts badly to the challenge. You can ask the team for improvements here: feedback@evernote.com
  14. LOL - yes he posted "Getting same issue" on a thread that had been silent for 2 years before. No m ore information, which makes it instant nonsense. There were about 50 releases between this and the post before. Nobody can have "the same issue", because the software was completely renewed several times over since.
  15. You don't have 2 windows on the Android client. That's the subform where you started this thread. So what about starting your quest(ion) with a simple information about OS, client version and other possible points of interest ?
  16. Don't know which web clipper feature broke, because none is broken (at least to my attention). There was a discussion about pdf clipping, which showed to be a correct behavior of the web clipper. The pdf was dynamically created from the website, so it showed, but couldn't be clipped. Printing the page to a pdf, and saving this into EN is a proven solution for the cases I have encountered. This requires no fix, because nothing is broken.
  17. If every freeloader who stays causes a loss of money by consuming resources, getting rid of that folk is definitely a win. EN had "acquired" a solid stock of "loyal" users - loyal in the meaning they expected to get all they needed for free, for ever. No idea what was the plan of the former management with these holdouts of non performing accounts. But I think this is resolved by now, which gives a clear focus of growing the business by winning users who get enough value to be willing to pay their share.
  18. On the web the only export works note by note. The only alternative to a desktop client is the GitHub project already mentioned. It can be installed on any device, even on computers not able to run a desktop client. You can install (if you know how) in a Docker on a server and run automated backups.
  19. Good luck to you. Just to correct a statement: The Web Clipper not long ago got a nice multiple selection tool that allows to clip only the sections from a site you need. Beside this the Web Clipper doesn’t get much attention in the forum. It seems most users are happy with it as it is.
  20. This is the Android forum. You can’t <ctrl - F> on mobile … Searching FOR a note is not the same as searching IN a note. For me in more than 9 out of 10 searches it is sufficient to find the right note. And when I open a note, I don’t need a search dialogue getting in my way. When I need the in-note search, and call it up, it will already be populated with the search-for-note string. Nothing lost here.
  21. A notebook doesn’t „exist“ as a note does. Think of a note a a website - each has it’s own URL, used for linking. A notebook is just an entry in a database table, and has no URL. A common way to link to a notebook is to create a note holding a TOC for a notebook. Link this note if you want to go to the notebook.
  22. … and export only works from an installed desktop client, not from the web client.
