I’ve created a backup session on Acronis, that runs a full copy of the EN database folder every day. So I can easily follow the golden 3-2-1 rule of backing up: 3 copies of all data 2 on different data carriers 1 off-site, not connected to the network/computer And because of that crypto-ransom-stuff it is advisable to hold at least one full copy (non incremental) for longer than the malware takes to come out. In this regard EN is pretty save because of the copy in the cloud. But local Notebooks are in danger, as everything else.

I do a lot of experiments before I decide, read comments etc. But when I have decided, I tend to stick with an app. I found it very time consuming to switch apps over time, and you drive yourself crazy if you try to handle one single / simple task by several apps at once.

Yes ! Just install 7.11 (I personally recommend doing it from Evernote directly, but App Store is an option as well), restart, and you should be done with this bug.

When cooking I would rather not have to play around with search or something. All in one note - I am sharing this notebook with my wife. And I MUST not create a mess in there 😱🤣 Maybe you could insert a table into the note, and place the pics in the table cells. Have not tried it, but it should keep things at its place. And it gives some control over layout, plus you can add the text to the foto, keeping it together.

iOS today has a button, that will create a note. If you press hard (on 3D-touch-devices) or longer, 3 options will appear around it. Even if they wanted, it would be hard to place more options and still have that fast „I get what I want“-feeling. Because of that, I would not make it too context sensitive. It is a fast way of doing ONE important thing: Get a new note created and open, wherever you are at that moment. For me as a heavy iOS user (about 70% is on my iPad Pro) I can do fine with the new button and a pop up menu. And if GUIs get more integrated, all the better. P.S. And please DO NOT place this on Facebook !

Local notebooks are a good option for sensitive data. Just do not forget to make sure that you’re backing up. If you backup the whole computer, fine. The locals will be there as well, among all the rest. Because EN is a pretty compact data base, it is possible as well to make a BU of just the EN data. This will easily fit on a USB-stick.

The update to Mac-client 7.11 contains that fix, and can be officially downloaded since of today (not a beta any more). It is for sure on the EN website (I’ve downloaded and installed it from there this morning) , and it should as well be on the App Store.

When in the Mac client, maybe the search index took a shot. The phones search is web-based. You can easily rebuild the index. Go to Help menu, but hold down the „option“ key before clicking on it. You will have now a „Problem solving“ menu position as the last entry in the help menu. Go to the first sub-option of this menu item, to rebuild the search index. Choose it, and wait the indexing to go through. Try again if your search works now.

That is true for many tasks. On office tasks, my MBP is never exceeding 10% CPU. Many computers sold are completely oversized, and many smaller companies often continue to buy larger individual computers instead of investing in a good office network with 1 good server for all the heavy lifting. This is why I say the investment may be very small for an computer that allows to work on the regular office stuff, but on an actual OS with actual programs. If nested in a decent company network with a sound server behind it, prices can be way below 200€ a piece.

I doubt that your notes have gone anywhere, if they have ever reached the server. Then they will be there, somewhere. On chance would be to go to PREMIUM for just one month. Thus you would be able to reach support on this, and to look up note history. Note history is active for all accounts, all the time. Just access to it depends on being on a paid account.

Not really as you are on a BASIC account. EN restricts support pretty much to paying users. No issue. I am on Safari, plus FF, plus other „lean“ browsers. No Linux, so I am not aware what may be different there. When I type in my user, and hit enter, the PW field is uncovered right below. Enter PW, hit enter again. In my case 2FA will then ask for a 6-digit-key, and that is it. Have to remember to cross this „remember my for 30 days“-box, to be able to use it without 2FA for the time being (my own machine, of course).

Win 7 is near to be obsolete. If a machine can not be upgraded to Win10, it will not take all sorts of new SW releases, accumulating security gaps etc. And it will lack the horsepower to make those who use it productive. So it is very likely „not just Evernote“. IMHO replacing that stuff in a professional environment is just a matter of rentability. It is not the new equipment that will cost money, it is the (paid) time spend with the old stuff that is costly. And if you anyhow set something up anew, there are other possibilities like putting in a nice server (or even a good NAS, like the Synology „+“ series), and let everybody work (Office-type stuff) on Mini-PCs / Net-PCs without disks etc. Much cheaper, much better to admin as the classical setup.

Congratulations for solving this, and thanks for posting your solution. On thought: Maybe the router itself is damaged. If it is from the ISP (mine is), maybe you can get a replacement. Otherwise you could try with another router on your fixed connection.

When I see how much effort went into this already (on your side), I think it would rather be cheaper to get rid of these old Win7-clunkers, and get some shiny new hardware 🧮

Just tried it. Working on the Air/2015 just the same like on the Pro/2017: It scrolls. Have tested it on the Air just with the virtual keyboard, but I am pretty sure if I would take the Bluetooth keys, it would be just the same. Sorry, but there must be another reason if yours is not scrolling automatically.

I doubt this. But I will try on the Air of my wife. Even when it is vintage 2015, it is running the same iOS and EN version as my Pro. So the Apps behavior should be reproducable

In iOS I can pick more than one note as well, following basic iOS logic: Put one finger on one note and hold it, tap with another one at other notes. They group nicely together, count going up, and then ... nothing. There is nothing you can do with this group, and as soon as you lift the first finger, it will fall apart again. So it is like getting a kiss from your sister/brother: Nice, but leading nowhere.

For iOS it looks like a nice improvement. At the moment, only 3 options show, only on a long / 3D Touch press, and sometimes you hide part of them with your hand. Looks good to me ! As told there is more to expect on the mobile clients. My favorite would be to be able to pick more than only one note at a time (maybe under the condition to have them downloaded as "offline" before), and do cool stuff like on the desktop clients: joining notes together into one tagging several of them in one go move them as a group to their target notebook etc. This would be a real time saver !
