  1. Isn't there a fundamental problem with web-based apps though? The 'parent' browser apps (or which there are many) have a number of restrictions (which vary from app to app) to prevent bad actor client apps from invading the device space and taking over / exploiting the user in some way. So a web app, by definition, has to occupy the absolute mimimum of the device resource and processing assets to satisfy a random grab-bag of nanny systems. If the client app is just a listicle or a video player that's not a problem. If it contains 50,000 notes and 30GB of storage (my use case) things start to get a bit tight around the temples. Plus code based on that web app won't directly transfer to an installed app where the browser limitations don't apply - but the security requirements of a different set of organisations (Hi Apple) require approaches that may sometimes be less than optimal. It's fine to pilot a UI in one medium - and as it happens that's exactly what Evernote have already said they're doing - but magically transporting it to a series of independent operating system may not be a cut and paste process...
  2. Hi. We're a (mainly) user-supported Forum so as soon as someone has anything useful to add they probably will. Meantime I'm not a Mac user, so no real knowledge here. Have you checked the options/ preferences in your scanning software to see if there's an 'open note after scan' choice you can switch off?
  3. Hi. By integrating Evernote and Google you're giving Evernote access to your Google account, not the other way around. As to privacy, there are a few links here - How does Evernote use my personal information and data?
  4. Hi. Haven't found many mobile apps that have a print function - have you tried the web version?
  5. ? Some of us haven't been getting this 'lagrantly obvious' problem this whole time - maybe those who do suffer it might like to report it to Support so it can get fixed?
  6. Sad to advise that I just joined the party - added 6 images to a note, then went back a few minutes later to add another. The note was empty. The Status bar still said '6 images' for a while, then Evernote locked up and when I got access back 20 seconds later it then said 'Characters:4'. Botheration. No great harm done - I can re-add the images as this is a new note. Maybe this is a sync issue? I may have interrupted the note trying to upload about 20MB of data by trying to add some more...
  7. Yup - same family of apps: https://www.xnview.com/en/apps/
  8. @PinkElephant reminds me of an excellent point - if a device has used up 90% of its hard drive storage, has a lot of software installed, is attempting to start up with dozens of 'startup' apps activated, is running other software that creates disk activity or uses up memory storage, has a bad internet connection, lots of other users on the same network, or is torrent streaming in the background... in short if a device is busy or badly maintained, it will run slow. The first step in any fix ought to be a housekeeping check to make sure the system is healthy!!
  9. Hi. Evernote rarely comment whether, or when a feature will be added. As a matter of interest how are you adding a tag (or any other item / search) to the Shortcuts list? Do you save the search for tag:<yourtag>, or drag and drop?
  10. Hi. That's an amazing compilation of fixes. Can I ask what you intend to do with it? It would take an awful long time to work through it fix by fix, and as one list it's probably frightening for many users to even get started. I know the Forum's question-and-suggestion process can take some time to get through, but we can often work out what particular fix is most likely to help without going through a lot of possible changes in hopes that things will improve...
  11. Hmmn. Guess I got used to the way I do things - I tend to use XnView to resize pictures; My system default is to open JPG and PNG files in that app, and three key combinations will crop (if necessary) to a selected size set light levels automatically resize to 1080 / 680 / 340 wide and 96ppi (options are set for particular uses of mine) Saving the processed file puts the edited image back in the note. - I do that with most images I post from my phone, though it is possible to crop images there too. My desktop screen is just bigger and keyboard-convenient. Having said which - I guess if there were an Evernote option to save pics as Original or Optimised plus a crop tool, I'd use it...
  12. Hi. I believe it's the convention that the text colour picker shows the shade that is currently in use, whether or not that is the default. Even if you have not entered any text, that shows you what colour it will be. If you prefer to start with a different colour you may be able to change the default, or create a template to make that easier. EDIT: Having seen your other 5(?!) duplicate posts in different forums I killed them and moved this one to a general feature request. Please don't post multiple requests for the same thing....
  13. Hmmn. I'm not a Mac user, although a few guys who are will be around here somewhere - give it a while and I'm sure you'll get some more informed comment!!
  14. Hi. Were you changing your address here? https://www.evernote.com/secure/SecuritySettings.action?view=
  15. Hi. Evernote can only encrypt pure text in a note. You would be able to open a PDF in Adobe or another PDF editor on your desktop to encrypt it, then re-upload it to your note. The original will still exist in your note history but the current version will require a password. If you scan to a folder on your hard drive, files can be OCR'd (made searchable) and encrypted there before being attached to a note. (Other apps can also encrypt their output files, and if you compress a file to a ZIP archive the compression software can usually encrypt the archive.)
  16. If that was the help pages online, they don't mention that only subscribers get email support. Try @EvernoteHelps on Twitter. If you're using the web client, exactly how did Evernote 'crash'? What is your browser and OS?
  17. Bearing in mind that if both devices are running, and Evernote is syncing regularly on both, I wonder if you managed to confuse the database by deleting on one machine but the other (before or after the deletion was synced) then popped up and re-added the note as a 'new' note. My head hurts just trying to work out whether that is even feasible, but my spider-sense says that two active devices as always bad news...
  18. I didn't need to, thanks - and I wasn't arguing with you, just envying your optimism...
  19. Hi - this menu was meant to be used under instruction from Evernote's Support team, which we very definitely are not. We're (or at least I'm) not even sure what some of those options actually do - so playing around is not a good idea. Some of the general 'fix' scans also take a long time, so don't attempt any repairs unless you can leave the device for an hour or two. I'd say you need a backup of your Evernote database folder before you start to use any of the options. Just in case...
  20. LOL - do you have any appreciation of the history of Windows 1992-2020? Evernote doesn't even register on the Microsoft scale of customer disregard...
  21. ...what @PinkElephant said; plus - worst case, try exporting half your notes. If that works, do half the rest - repeat as necessary. Whichever export fails contains your note error(s)... Try more halves (if necessary) to narrow that down.
  22. Ah. @Don Dz - sorry: should have read this thread before responding to the other post. OK I get why creating notes in shared notebooks may be a problem. Not sure why - even with editing privs you'd be unable to delete... Had the changes synced fully when you were trying?
  23. HI. Working in the 'All Notes' view, it's not my experience that editing an existing note jumps to that notebook, or that creating a new note assigns it to anything other than my default notebook. What's your OS and can you list out your process in detail? Mine, for instance, is: Notes open in 'All Notes' view click into single note in a specific notebook and edit content click 'New Note' create new note in Default Notebook... If I select another notebook I see only notes in that notebook (obvs!) and new notes are created there. I'd suspect if the option existed to assign new notes to a specific notebook, I'd always have left it set to the 'wrong' notebook no matter where I create the note...
