As already posted, Shottr replaced Skitch within 5 minutes after I installed and tested it. It does everything, plus a lot more, with new code, a clean interface and optically impressive results. Just one example: The Blur tool lets me choose between options, for example to blur text only. Try this in Skitch: Killing outdated code is not disrespect - it is a sign to take on responsibility. Not maintained code is a disaster waiting to happen - especially in the case of Skitch that has its own access to the cloud storage.

Collapsible sections coming to Evernote
PinkElephant replied to ferol's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Just a little talk: I recently had a problem with my VPN Provider. I send a ticket from the app. 5 minutes later I had an email. OK, trained by EN support I thought „my ticket number“. No, it was my answer, and it most likely came from a support employee. This was no AI brabble, he clearly had read and understood my issue. The answer was polite, but no text block Blabla, to the point and leading to a next step. 2 mails later (and 1 uninstall / reinstall) we had established he takes it to the devs desk. The whole thing took 30 minutes. And then I see us speculating, and I simply ask WHY ? Just make that support work - EN is among the most „precious“ apps I have subscribed. -
Cannot create tags iniPhone web clipper
PinkElephant replied to DSM's topic in Evernote General Discussions
There never was such an extension. The only browser allowed on iOS was Safari / WebKit. Extensions were introduced with iOS 16. Up to now the WebClipper extension has not been ported from the Mac to work on iOS. I don’t remember that there ever was an option to create new tags in the iOS sharing dialogue. Since it sends the data into the local client, the options it can use are limited. On iOS all apps run in their own sandbox. The WebClipper doesn’t use the local client, it works through the API directly on the server. -
Collapsible sections coming to Evernote

Probably the name is the shortcut for the text expander phrase. From my last support contacts I can’t tell if a person answered, using text blocks - or an AI trying to simulate a support employee. I would be not the least surprised if the 1st level support is running on an AI platform. It „reads“ the tickets and drafts an answer. Maybe somebody makes a brief check before the answers are send. Just an impression, no inside knowledge. -
They stick a huge carrot in front of you right now: v10.80 is out, and it offers collapsible and expandable sections. You get at them by hovering the mouse over a header, and have an arrow to click at. I rather tolerate a little text than goes away once I start typing (although I find it disturbing as well) to get the functional sections.

First I want to add my 👏🏻 to the 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. @gazumped For the use case you describe a „Collapse / Expand All“ would be useful. -

Can't Open PDF files

There are only users here. When somebody answers, he does it out of his free decision, and in his free time. We discourage bumping. -
You just need to take a look at Skitch to know how outdated it was. The annotation tools were probably the clumsiest ever invented, the pixel graphics of annotation text just ridiculous. If you ask me, they did humankind a service by taking it offline. About the attitude towards legacy users, I don’t think there is any. You sidelined yourself by sticking to unsupported software. Why should your personal hobby to run ancient code bother others ? The future of the service is elsewhere, that’s were the focus is. You dropped yourself off the screen. Don‘t expect any attention now when the time is up, just do what you want. There is a clear migration path to v10. Take it, or take care of an alternative. 11 days and counting.

What is wrong with PRODUCTIVITY?
PinkElephant replied to Cathy Paradee's question in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
There are a ton of keyboard shortcuts available to shorten some distances while using the app. Click on the keyboard symbol bottom left to get an overview. -
How to turn off the "/" shortcut

Why don’t you tell them ? feedback@evernote.com -
What will happen on the 23rd we don’t know. The normal method would be to simply take the old API offline. This effectively cuts all legacy clients from the server. To take the client itself offline is only to avoid it will be seeking a server that no longer responds. When it can’t access the internet, it will fall back to offline mode. Even when it will be offline, make sure you are logged in on the server the last time before setting up the firewall. Then quit the client WITHOUT LOGGING OUT. Set up the firewall. Open the client, test that it works while being cut off. When it works, you can close and open it as you want. Just NEVER LOG OUT.

Some celebrate the slash-commands as the greatest invention since canned milk. Many dislike the display of the grey text. You should send feedback at EN about your opinion: feedback@evernote.com Personally I am mildly irritated that every line of text is now prefilled. But there are greater evils in the world than this. Remark: You have a keyboard with a stuck letter „j“, that’s annoying to me.

Has nothing to do with RTE, and not even with EN. This effect of corrupting attachments when a write operation is terminated prematurely can happen with files written to any drive as well. The trick is simply not to terminate the writing program (here Adobe Acrobat) until the write operation has not terminated. In the programs I use a „Close Window“ (ctrl/cmd-W) will write safely, because the app itself isn’t terminated.
