forced upgrades + impossible interface = death
PinkElephant replied to kiwiads's topic in Evernote General Discussions
When I read your posts in this forum, I ask myself „where is your contribution to help the forum crowd to move ahead“ ? Up to now I found none, just backward pointed moaning. But maybe you can enlighten me ? -
EN very laggy on Mac (Video)
PinkElephant replied to p_bio's topic in Evernote for Mac Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
OK, this speaks for a problem with the local database. To remove it, and replace it by a new copy from the cloud server: Quit the client. Use the app AppCleaner to remove all parts of EN from the drive. Restart the Mac. Download the installer from the EN website. Install, open, log in. Now let it run for quite a while in the background while it downloads a new copy of your database. Remark: I would try to get some free space on that drive. A SSD should have appr. 10% of free space - 20% is even better. It uses the space for load balancing of the cells, which extends its usable lifetime. -

On what sort of drive is that mini ? How much free space is available ? If you open your account in a browser, how is performance compared to the installed client ? -

how can I reach the support ticket page, i am always logged out!?

Try the guest access again that I posted above. Your login problems are very likely either a problem on your computer, your local network or your way how you try to log in. Hard to tell from the outside. If you can log in with another device on your home network, it is likely on our computer. If you can’t login using another device on your network, it is likely a network problem. About the login method you know best if you use a VPN or similar. -

OK, this was my idea, thanks for confirming it. You have my advise, use it at your discretion. It would be pretty stupid to hate a piece of outdated code, don’t you think ? -

PinkElephant replied to pansovic's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
It makes a difference to sync a note at a time (or 10, 20 or 50) - or sync 55k of notes, with a database and a search index the user expects to work. With a necessary conversion between the old and new data structure. It is not clear if you erased 40k of notes on legacy, or the new version. To give you sound advise, you should first tell what you did. Until then, no further advise. -
Integrate tasks with task managers
PinkElephant replied to jvankempen's question in General Feature Requests
Know what will be the day when I calm down ? It will be the day when Google asks me if I allow them to take my data, and offer a reasonable refund. Currently they are stealing them, and pocket it all. But we all know that before that hell freezes over (and probably Apple starts to charge reasonable prices for storage upgrades). -

You switched to a new app generation, and first thing was to remove 40.000 out of 55.000 notes ? Probably before the new client had a chance to build the full local database. Don’t want to enter into user bashing, but let us assume the client was not yet fully functional when this was added to it’s tasks. While it still downloads it always get an „erased“ message, which he needs to upload. If the web client is still showing it all, it may be the best strategy to start all over again. This would mean: Completely trash the new desktop client. Use Revo Uninstaller for this. The regular Windows Uninstaller doesn’t do this job. The after a restart of the computer install it fresh, open, log in. Now give it all the time it takes to download the full copy and build the local database. With 55k notes this can take several days, if not weeks. Only after this has been completed, start removing stuff. Do it in steps, not 40k notes all at once. -

… would be a good start - for Google. Why do we need to shovel even more personal data to this data hoarder ? If there is an ugly business model behind a nice face, it’s Google (OK, with fierce competition by Meta and Amazon for the top position). -

If you don’t get the value you need, go watching. But don’t use bogus arguments for it. -
Shocking increase in plan price
PinkElephant replied to binHEX's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Plus had all that was available at that time. Nothing was taken away. It just continued on that level. There were additional features, and the management back then decided to bundle them, and launch Premium. Plus was grandfathered, existing users could stay. Later they launched Tasks and Boolean Search, decided again they need to bundle them. A user focused version of Tasks went to Personal (plus all Premium features), the collaborative use of Tasks and Boolean Search went to the new Professional level. Again nothing was removed, Premium was as split: Full Premium plans were converted to Personal, rebated Premium users could upgrade, or stay on rebated Premium, without full Personal features. The result were 4 individual plans Plus (grandfathered since 2018) Premium (grandfathered since 2021) Personal (active) Professional (active) The only change in plans after BS took over was that the grandfathered plans can’t be renewed any more. The users can decide to move to Personal (with a price hike, buffered by a first year rebate) or drop to Free. Conclusion: There were never features removed from existing plans. As @agsteele has added, many features were now opened to the Free plan as well - which functions as a trial plan. Subscribers can choose between Personal or Professional. -
The message means you have no internet connection (at least not to the EN server) in that moment. If syncing is fine, it is probably an intermittent problem. About your main question: if you tried 1) a logout/login, 2) quit the app and restart it and 3) restart the whole computer, and the features still won’t show, contact support. Unfortunately support is (at least for me) currently no good experience, but they can at least look at your activity logs and try to find a reason. If the first answer sounds as if they didn’t read your ticket, insist they do. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Shocking increase in plan price
PinkElephant replied to binHEX's topic in Evernote General Discussions
EN got (nearly) bankrupted by the Freemium model. For sure it got them sold. But back to the question. I assume you can’t answer it because there is no such feature. New features were often reserved for new subscription plans, all existing features remained available. If the new prices are adequate depends on your use cases. This you need to answer yourself. If not, go watching. -

Shocking increase in plan price
PinkElephant replied to binHEX's topic in Evernote General Discussions
You buy a package - no matter what you intend to use. You said there were features taken away and moved to more expensive subscriptions. This implies you already have been a subscriber. Free doesn’t qualify, for reasons explained. Now, which feature was ever taken away from one paid plan and moved to another ? -
Shocking increase in plan price
PinkElephant replied to binHEX's topic in Evernote General Discussions
A free account is no subscription. Users of a Free plan don’t contribute, and no company has any obligation to keep offering any feature for these users. They could even stop offering a free plan at all. -

Can you name a single feature that was taken away from you and moved to a more expensive subscription ? Just one ?
