033 - Sort Notes by Size
PinkElephant replied to AlbertR's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Can you explain why this would be useful ? We don’t pay for storage, only the upload is counted. When a note appears in the list (and could be sorted), the upload has already happened. The classical „I want to reduce storage size“ doesn’t really apply. -
Shocking increase in plan price

It is a very basic misunderstanding that EN tried to add a task manager with the goal to replace other task managers. The goal of EN Tasks was to make notes actionable. It adds the dimension of time to the note sphere. Tasks are added to Notes, not Notes added to Tasks. The possibilities go from ways of GTD implementation that had not been possible before to building own workflows, like a home breed CRM or a project manager. That some users use EN tasks to replace their task manager is a side effect.

@chilee There is nothing to resolve, because there are by design not device specific fonts. This is no mistake, it is intentional. InDesign is a page layout program - EN is a note taking app. These are as far apart in their respective focus as they can possibly be. The EN editor will preserve the content - but not the layout. If you want to preserve an InDesign document, attach the file. If you don’t like it, send feedback. If you can’t use it, go watching for an alternative. What legacy did or didn’t do is of no importance. EN never promised to build a clone, and legacy is no measure for the new client. Each software has its own strengths.
-
@kiwiads True, the old client using a syncing method from the years 2000 needed a syncing button. It was build like that, and it had no reliable sync. The sync caused note conflicts and duplicates, just as a reminder. Since May 2023 EN uses RTE, a real time syncing method. No sync button, no conflicts (except you provoke them), changes made on one client show in near real time on all other clients with the same note open.

Does the slash commands only support English?
PinkElephant replied to GOODJIN's topic in Evernote General Discussions
The attached video doesn’t work. And yes, probably it only works with Latin characters. -
You have this issue … You use legacy ? Legacy is unsupported, that’s it. You don’t use legacy ? Then you don’t have „the same problem“. In 2019 the software you use didn’t even exist. Start with posting information about the client you use.

You ever lived for a longtime in a place ? Cozy, nice, familiar, ok, a bit run down (no, a lot). The demolition man announced himself, staying is no option. And then you moved to another place, new, different neighborhood, fresh pantheon and all. But it was not the same place. You either get acquainted to it - or you move again. No guarantees the next place will be better.

Pinging is not downloading - that’s only to hold server contact. Downloading means real data flows, usually showing in MB/s. It will not be continuous, because downloaded data must first be integrated into the local database.

Python SDK (A Blast from the Past?)
PinkElephant replied to hefty-pie's topic in Evernote Integrations
We don’t say „Don’t post here“. We just say „Few devs here, so it may not be the best place on the planet to search for devs help“. In general I think EN should do more themselves to support devs who build an ecosystem around the service. First stop should be the API, which was left behind when new features were introduced, and the synchronization changed. I think the „current“ documentation is still from 2014. There are apps that stopped to build EN integrations out of this reason. Others have folded completely (like Filterize). I wouldn’t guarantee that the API will still work as before when the legacy clients will stop syncing. In 14 days we all will know more -

change of address
PinkElephant replied to hfruengel's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Actually I am not aware that an address (I mean a physical one) could be entered anywhere. The only field with invoice information I have found is a reference number, which I use for my Tax ID. On my invoices only my mail address shows, and this reference number. I may be I am not allowed all functions of a user who pays his account directly - I use my iTunes account for my subscription. -

OK, you stick to grumpy. But constructive contribution ? You are just posting gallic comments here, usually fantasizing about EN staff being not interested in improving the app. Evidence is against your malicious theory, and I can't see you posting anything constructive. Maybe you mean "destructive", there you qualify with excellence. -
This thread is in the iOS section - which was a mistake, because it was started for a MacBook Air. But OK, close. Now we have "happy posting" about Windows systems here. NOK - not even close. Please stop hijacking this thread. If you have an issue, open a new one, in the Windows subform. Post your observation, your system and your clients version.

Annoying 'hover' popups, sluggish UI
PinkElephant replied to B. Clay Miles's topic in Evernote General Discussions
OK, you followed my first advise: Back to grumpy, check. Now you need to add something constructive to the forum, just a tiny little gem ? It‘s a challenge, I know, but maybe you make it if you really try. -

PinkElephant replied to B. Clay Miles's topic in Evernote General Discussions
If this was an attempt of being funny, could you please return to be grumpy again ? Suits you better. The very simple solution to screen clipping has been posted several times: Use another screen clipper, copy, paste, done. But I am sure you will insist, because that seems to be your nature. -
You are more than 3 years late to this discussion. The unified fonts were introduced to make notes look alike on all platforms. I see this as positive, others less so. This change is there to stay. For your stated goal of plain note taking it shouldn’t make a difference at all.
-
We can only speculate about the inner workings at EN, but I don’t expect any reversal. If not satisfied, use the link already posted. The more precise you are in describing your problems, the better. Not: Don’t like the colors. Better: The difference in color between selected notes and the others is not visible enough.

Cannot create tags iniPhone web clipper
PinkElephant replied to DSM's topic in Evernote General Discussions
There never ever existed a web clipper on iOS. Web Clipper is a browser extension. For a very long time Apple did not allow browser extensions on iOS. Since maybe 2 years they do now, but only very few exist. EN uses the iOS sharing process to clip from the web. Which is not comparable to the Web Clipper on desktop browsers. One of the biggest differences is that sharing creates the new note on the device where it is used. The client must be open to create it. It then syncs from there to the server, and from there to all other devices. The Web Clipper uses the API to the server. It creates the note directly there. The local client is not needed, it must not even be installed.
