  1. You're responding to a post that's almost a year old, from when Evernote was rolling out a new sync structure. Please give some more detail.
  2. I can't reproduce it in v. 10.78.2 either. I don't use Outlook at all. Is that an Evernote dialog? I've never seen it. If that is Outlook popping up a Create Event dialog, then it seems pretty obvious that Outlook is monitoring the clipboard and, when it sees a time appear there, it pops up that dialog. How is Evernote supposed to fix that??? John, you've been around these forums long enough to know that they are user-to-user. If you really want to report this to Evernote (and not just give the impression you are so that later on you can complain that they didn't respond), submit a bug report (even though it's not their bug; https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action), or email feedback@evernote.com.
  3. ... and since in Legacy there was only one highlight color, not 6, which does require a dialog to choose from. I can confirm this, in Windows desktop v. 10.78.2. If the Web clip is still in the gray HTML box, it does not print (except occasional, random paragraphs). If it has been simplified / made editable with the "magic wand," the content can be printed. Definitely a bug, and worth reporting to support.

  5. Others have responded accurately to your basic question. Evernote's reasoning for pulling the plug is stated clearly in this blog post: https://evernote.com/blog/legacy-decommissioning. "A few security leaks" are not going to be acceptable for most users, I think. I can promise you that if Legacy caused a security problem, users would rush into the forums howling at Evernote for putting out this buggy, unsafe product. If you could give a little more detail about data loss and sync troubles (such as the link to your previous thread post) it might help the conversation. I also use v. 10 on a daily basis, and I'm just not seeing that sort of issue.
  6. Afraid not. It's considered a major feature, so they're not likely to make it possible to disable it. Honestly, I don't use it (yet) either, and I manage to ignore the new purple button (which as of v. 10.78 is only about 1/4 the size of the New Note button).
  7. V. 10 does have a different arrangement in the interface from the one you (and all of us) were used to in v. 6. My viewpoint is that it took me awhile to get used to the older version when I started using Evernote, but I did, and when I started using v. 10 it took me another while, but I got used to that too. In any case, your notes are all there. To see the sidebar, try pressing the F10 key along the top of the keyboard. That should pop it out. Then you can click on Notes or Notebooks to see the list of your content. Please keep asking questions; a lot of your fellow users here enjoy answering them! Regarding the black sidebar, that was formerly the standard look in v. 10, but they did a big revamp of the interface colors a few weeks ago and now it's light everywhere. Hope this is helpful.
  8. I sympathize, since I sometimes have multiple languages in notes myself. Spell checking in v. 6 actually went through a series of degradations in 2018, as seen in this forum thread, this one, and this one. As I understand it (and I could be wrong) the only way to make spell-check possible in multiple languages (i.e., in languages other than the system language) is to license spelling dictionaries for the languages you want to make available. I can imagine that that would run into quite a bit of money for software that has such a large and diverse userbase. I assume (only an assumption) that Evernote made the decision not to lay out that money early in the development of v. 10, and the decision hasn't been reversed. I suppose it could be, and you can suggest it to Evernote directly at feedback@evernote.com. I should add that there is a functioning custom dictionary, to which Evernote adds words upon request. In Windows: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Evernote\Partitions\{userID}\Custom Dictionary.txt. The bad news is that since September 2018 (in Legacy v. 6.15), this file has been protected by a checksum, possibly the most useless and pointless security feature ever added to any software. Because of this, it is impossible to add words to the dictionary manually, e.g., by copying them from another plain-text dictionary. (I highlight the word "Legacy" above in order to point out that IMHO people sometimes look at Legacy in a rose-colored rearview mirror, as if it always worked properly. An evening spent browsing through these forums in 2018 or 2019 will quickly dispel this opinion.)
  9. V. 10 was a mess when it first came out, as everyone acknowledges, but that was several years ago, and I find that updates today just don't break things. They don't always fix anything obvious either, but that's another story. If I'm in the middle of something and see there's an Evernote update, I just ignore it. It won't install, as you say, until the next "relaunch," meaning I either (a) click the link to relaunch and install, (b) quit Evernote completely (File > Quit) and restart it, or (c) restart my computer. Avoiding those when possible avoids the update. Here's what I suggest. Fly to Italy. Walk into Evernote's offices and demand that they give you a list of every single one of their users and what version they're on. Then do the math. Short of that, I have the impression you're going to just call any number you don't like a fake. Or is there some number you'd actually consider plausible? Or is it just possible that this is the natural human tendency to feel that what one is involved in or prefers is a big deal and the majority opinion? Speaking of BS. That is frankly pretty obnoxious, and I'm very tired of hearing it (assuming I'm one of the people you're talking about). Of course I don't have any vested interest in Evernote. No. That's false. It's not true. It's libelous. Any other way I can put it? Or are you just going to keep assuming that people who disagree with you are doing so in bad faith? I also put quite a bit of time into developing my use of pre-v. 10 Evernote. I hated v. 10 when it first came out, because it was a mess. It took a year or two before it began to seem usable enough, so I started using it in the Web client. As I got used to it, I got to find its new features valuable, and pretty much everything I needed from Legacy was eventually added in. What wasn't there, I've been able to live without. And since you admit that you were not born using Legacy, but put "millions of hours" into developing your use of it, why does it seem like some birthright is being taken away if you are now going to have to put a few more hours into once again learning something new? Especially when you've had 3 years to work on it?

  11. This has been requested many times. If you look around the forum, you'll find a number of threads. It's a good idea, which I hope they'll pick up. If it's not already in @ferol's wishlist table (https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/150571-missing-features-bugs-and-wishlist-in-v10-clear-detailed-table/), you can request that he add it; but I'll bet that it is.
  12. Make sure you have the latest version. The "check for updates" in the app often doesn't find the newest right away, since they try to roll it out on a schedule. You can always go to https://evernote.com/download to get the most recent version.
  13. Unfortunately, wasting space actually seems to be one of the key principles of the new UI. Literally. It's "open" or "modern" or something. And it's all over the interface, so I don't think it's going to get fixed.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way we can revert to the visible, readable, usable interface, unless Evernote decides to make options available.   15. Very bizarre. Of course I mostly use DuckDuckGo rather than Google, so I don't have any data. But I haven't seen anybody else report this. I'm afraid you're probably going to have to open a ticket with support: https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action. You'll get canned responses for the first round or two, but hopefully it will eventually get someone's attention. Meanwhile, you can keep experimenting to see what shows up in that list. You might also try uninstalling Evernote (people recommend Revo Uninstaller for thoroughness) and reinstalling.

  19. This is v. 10.78.2, which I just got today automatically. I presume it's available from evernote.com/download. It also fixed the recent searches, so that they're now actually recent, and sync properly across all devices on an account. The Release Notes only mention the table padding; the other things are at least as important
  20. That's really weird. In v. 10.78.2 they've actually (silently) fixed a long-running bug in which recent searches were not updated for ages, if ever. It's working right for me at the moment. You could try executing a new search in Evernote, do File > Quit, then restart Evernote and see if that search is at the top of the list.
  21. Most of this has to do with the user interface upgrade/degrade that is being applied to Evernote v. 10. You're the second person I've seen just now complaining about numbering being messed up. Could you post a screenshot? That's really weird as a result of UI changes, I'd think, and maybe it has something to do with v. 10.78 itself.
  22. 10.78.2 is the current version of Evernote. I don't know anything about Mac operating systems, but on general principles that version of Evernote will continue operating. It's only v. 7 (on Mac) that will quit working on March 23. WRT the appearance, you're seeing some effects of the new upgrading/degrading of the user interface that is being applied to v. 10 desktop apps. First thing to do is go to Settings > Note, scroll down, and select under Note width "Fit to window" instead of "Optimize readability," which does pretty much the opposite by adding a bunch of space on the left and right margins. The all-white all-over is part of the "Modern" or whatever it's called design movement that dislikes contrast, since contrast makes it possible to, you know, read things and find things. Uck; but we're stuck with it. It's actually got more contrast than when it first came out a few weeks ago. You can report your impressions here: https://waz9zvkd1f2.typeform.com/newuifeedback. If fixing the note width doesn't unscramble your numbering, say some more about that--maybe start a separate thread to get it some attention.   23. Yes! I believe you're right! My Windows desktop app was just updated to 10.78.2 today. This is the version that has separated out the new note and new task functions, with a ... menu for other options e.g. attachment. I clicked in the search bar, and indeed instead of the 3 searches that had been sitting there for, I don't know, a year or something, there were 3 searches I'd actually made recently. I did a search I've never done before, did File > Quit, and restarted Evernote, and there was that search at the top of the recent search list. My Web client also has it at the top of the list, and so does my Android app. 👍 👍✔️💯
  24. This is pretty likely. I'll admit I don't do 100-note actions very often, but I was on v. 10 when they did the note structure conversion last year, and simply saw notes open slowly and get converted as I used them. Next time I opened them they were fast. Even now, I can still come across an occasional note I haven't looked at in a long time that has to convert.
