  1. This is pretty likely. I'll admit I don't do 100-note actions very often, but I was on v. 10 when they did the note structure conversion last year, and simply saw notes open slowly and get converted as I used them. Next time I opened them they were fast. Even now, I can still come across an occasional note I haven't looked at in a long time that has to convert.
  2. Glad you found a solution, @marjack. I agree, this is evidently happening to a number of people and shouldn't happen at all. It would be good to report it either to Evernote support (since there's already a solution, they may just refuse to deal with it) or to feedback@evernote.com.
  3. This is not immediately relevant to anything under discussion here. I'm not sure I even understand it completely. But I'm going to bet that someone will think it's funny.
  4. You mean we have to be on the dung-storm X to have any input on this?? Or can I just somewhere say "PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING PRECIOUS, LEAVE IT THE **** ALONE!!!"? Ahem. I hope it was as obvious to everyone on X (including Federico) that only the second one, where you can actually access your notes from the Home page, is even worth considering. Or is it the goal to have the fastest possible Home page by not actually having anything on it?
  5. You're right about this. The obvious workaround is, having created the TOC with the 100 notes, to select the other 10, copy their links, and past them into the file, which I presume you've done. Since raising or eliminating the 100 note limit is already on the list, fixing that should fix this issue. But it would also be good if they'd revive the automatic TOC generation.
  6. I recently updated my support request on this, and after some song-and-dance about sending in information I'd already sent long ago, they said, "Rest assured, your concern has been noted and reported to our developers. While we may not have an immediate solution at hand, please know that we're working hard to prevent any such issues from arising in the future. Enhancing the user experience of Evernote remains a top priority for us." This is boilerplate, of course, but at least it implies that they are actually working on it.
  7. Welcome to the forums. This is not my experience at all, so something is amiss. If you're seeing some of your notes in Home, then you're properly logged in to your existing account. Try clicking on Notes or Notebooks in the left panel. As @gazumped said, it will take a while to finish downloading everything, but if you search for something and a note exists with that search term, then it will download that note at once. If this isn't happening, can you say some more about what you're seeing (a screenshot might help) and what procedure you're following?
  8. Carl has some very specific points to his use case, which might not apply to everyone. In my experience, v. 10 finds notes with PDFs containing text I've searched for in the main search bar. To find the text in the PDFs within those notes, if the PDFs are more than a page or two, I go to a note, make its PDF(s) viewable as single or all pages, not just title (my default view), and then use the search function within the note. The search term will be highlighted in the PDF. I'd suggest trying it out for yourself using the Web client, which will be the latest version of v. 10 (https://www.evernote.com/client/web). Search for text you know is in a PDF in a particular note, and see if the note is found, etc.
  9. OK, v. 10 was not a viable option for the first, say, 12-15 of those 40 months. But it was always clearly the future, and a future that improved dramatically from its absurdly under-prepared first release (on that point I agree). If you don't think Legacy had any "glaring issues," search the pre-v.-10 forum of your choice for "bugs." Certainly during 2019, if not earlier, a lot of people were saying make this better. The answer to that cry was v. 10, and for those who could or would never accept it, there has been a very long off-ramp--the end of which is now in front of them.
  10. Well, I lack your mind-reading capabilities to be able to determine other people's motivations. V. 10 has been around for over 3 years, and functioning decently for at least half that time (depending on one's needs), so choosing to listen to what sounded to you like "no rush, it'll be around indefinitely," which might really have meant "it's going away, but not next month--but some month," was your choice to delay the inevitable--until the inevitable became an emergency.
  11. 30 days--at the end of 40 months or so of v. 10 being the obvious future, like it or not, and several months of red banner warnings. I sincerely hope you're able to find a workable way forward, but, as they say:
  12. Hi, and welcome to the forums. No problem waxing philosophical for me! Part of the problem specific to Evernote is that only some shortcuts can be edited or disabled; others we're stuck with period. Worst of all, there's at least one default shortcut (Ctrl+Q) that has not 1 but 3 actions linked to it, depending on where you are in the program! That I consider incredibly poor programming. Fortunately, it is (partially) editable. I don't use customized shortcuts globally, but I do have a program that uses a very extensive set of shortcuts while it's in focus, and I need to be careful that no other program's global shortcuts (e.g. Evernote's) conflict with these. Frankly, I think the set of users who rely heavily on large-scale KB customization is very small within the universe of computer users, even Evernote users, so I don't know whether they'll respond to this. But to make sure they see it (these forums are mainly user-to-user), email feedback@evernote.com. You can also submit a condensed, de-philosophized proposal to this effort to create a comprehensive wishlist:
  13. This works properly for me, in the Windows desktop app on Windows 10. What's your platform (Windows, Mac, Web, etc.)? How long ago did you install v. 10? It can take some time for the whole notes database to download, if it's large, and maybe esp. so these days when thousands of users are doing it at once.
  14. I've been using v. 10 for a couple of years, and internal links work consistently for me. It would be really helpful if you could indicate what device/platform you're on (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Web), and whether the links are Web (evernote.com/...) or app (evernote:///view/...). Also, how long ago did you install v. 10? It can take some time for the whole notes database to download, if it's large, and maybe esp. so these days when thousands of users are doing it at once.
  15. To give feedback to Evernote: feedback@evernote.com. I would recommend not insulting them in your email, but maybe that's just me. There's also a user who is creating a comprehensive table of issues in v. 10 that need addressing, and it would be good to add this issue to it, if it's not there already:
  16. @ferol, this is under discussion in another thread, and there needs to be more detail before this is added to the list, IMHO. What exactly is the "difference" that is to be eliminated? Data from my account: I have many notes that discuss Thomas Merton. Searching for "merton" yields over 250 results. Searching for "erton" yields precisely 1, the title of a note whose title consists solely of the name "Merton". But searching for "intitle:merton" yields 58 results, including one other note whose title consists solely of "Merton". ("intitle:erton" yields 0 results.) Evernote's search grammar lays out a system in which a search term specifies a string starting at the beginning of a word, and I don't believe it distinguishes "intitle" searches from others in this respect. So, yes, there's some kind of "inconsistency," but the nature of that inconsistency is unclear. The single result for the search "erton" in my notes seems likely to be the result of some sort of error, perhaps in indexing, but what the error is I don't know. IAC, a proper search for "merton" is successful, both for titles and bodies of notes.
  17. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I think there have been a few reports of similar issues, but I don't know if anyone has found a solution. You might want to try uninstalling, restarting the phone, and installing again.
  18. There are 1 or 2 other threads in this forum on crashing. I haven't experienced it myself, but definitely look through those threads. I've heard rumors that support is getting closer to being up to speed, and my guess is you'll be headed their way, I'm afraid.
  19. Welcome to the forums. You can also try sending these ideas to feedback@evernote.com. The v. 10 interface has been structured the way it is for over 3 years. I'm just another user, but I will say flatly that it's not going back, even as an option. We've had those 3 years to try v. 10 and get accustomed to it. It took me quite awhile, at least a year, but it finally got good enough that I converted, and now it's second nature to me. Give it some time. I would be even more certain that they're not going to offer a feature smorgasbord. Are there major apps that do this?? As for compactness ... sadly, even those of us who got accustomed to v. 10 a couple years ago have now experienced the 2024 UI upgrade, which emphasizes ... spaciousness ... the feel of the wind blowing through the gaping holes between interface elements. Feedback on that goes here: https://waz9zvkd1f2.typeform.com/newuifeedback.
  20. Trying to parse this with a bit more punctuation: Isn't "block note" "widget" in English? Sorry, but you've got several reasonably proficient native speakers of English quite puzzled.
  21. This question has been raised numerous times. I don't know if any satisfactory workarounds have been found, or any satisfactory explanations given, but search the forums and you'll find other discussions which may have more information.
  22. Still no drag and drop, but (weirdly, to me) right-click, Copy, Paste into word process doc does work.
  23. I apologize for being a little insistent about this. I should have said in my OP here that I only did the forum search on the Windows forum; searches on other platforms' forums will reveal other masses of bug reports pre-v. 10. Here's the search on the Mac forum, which turns up almost 150 posts discussing "bug": https://discussion.evernote.com/search/?&q=bug&type=forums_topic&page=1&quick=1&nodes=219&search_and_or=or&start_after=1262304000&start_before=1609372800&sortby=newest. For example, from October 2020, so I presume on v. 7.14, concerning a sync/duplication issue: I'm glad you had a near-perfect experience with 7.14, but I doubt that it was universally so.
