Organise tags using Drag and Drop
DTLow replied to Pontus Berg's question in General Feature Requests
I also use a prefix naming standard for organizing tags The first character indicates a class of tags; ?Who, -What, @Where, .When, #Project/Tasks Hierarchy is reflected in the name; for example -Budget, -Budget-Computer, -Budget-ComputerHardware >>if I press the "root tag" in the left menu Confirmed - clicking the Tags icon opens the Tags Page (Mac Legacy) I can also click View > Tags (Mac Legacy)if I press the "root tag" in the left menu >>What's the issue with not allowing drag and drop directly in the left panel? That is where it makes sense for me to do it! This is not an issue for me I use the sidebar as a navigation tool I moved your post to the Requests forum. Users can indicate support using the vote button at the top left corner of the discussion -
If this is important, use separate exports for each notebook I use a script on my Mac to control this >>or notebook hierarchy Confirmed; notebook/tag hierarchy is not maintained in the export I use a naming standard that identifies the hierarchy; for example Budget, Budget-Computer, Budget-ComputerHardware

I moved your post to the Requests forum I've seen no indication that Evernote is interested in expanding the current note list view Personally, I export my tasks data to a spreadsheet and generate a Gantt timeline view (using a Mac Applescript)

Import Folders
DTLow replied to joness's question in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
I've always used an import folder on my Mac for the Evernote Legacy product It uses the native OS Folder Actions feature, triggering an Applescript -
Backup of entire Evernote
DTLow replied to Troglodite's topic in Evernote for Mac Issues (Versions 7.14 and under)
There are two export options; HTML and ENEX HTML results in a file for each note; readable by any browser app ENEX results in all notes combined in a single mass file. Notes can only be read by importing the mass file into Evernote Yes, the backup can be directed to an external drive (or a cloud drive) -
I use the official Legacy product - it doesn't auto upgrade Install at https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote

I'm not a Windows user but I think the url will be something like file://c:.. Be aware - we currently have to use the Legacy product to create the link
-
You don't want to embed these spreadsheets into the Evernote database Store them externally and in Evernote reference the spreadsheets using a file link >>Is this not supported within EN No. The files have been removed from the file system and cell links are no longer valid

DTLow replied to A2JC4life2's question in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)

Continuing a discussion from @Peterppp, we have two steps for an import using Applesccript Processing the .csv file to produce for each note: date, content, tags Creating a note in Evernote Step 1 (Processing the .csv file) There are notes at https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/112095-exporting-from-apple’s-numbers-spreadsheet-to-evernote/?do=findComment&comment=498008 Step 2 (Creating a note in Evernote) tell application "Evernote" set theNote to create note with text theContents title theTitle tags theTags created theDate end tell

Create New Note Without Evernote and Note Opening Automatically
DTLow replied to JMBTX's question in General Technical Issues
https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote Personally, I use an import folder Currently Legacy product only, but we expect/hope it will be implemented to the Version 10 product -
That's a bad assumption The Version 10 product was implemented with an initial framework, missing many of the legacy features Some features have been specifically dropped (Local Folders) and other features are being added on a priority basis Quoting from the release notes, "If your workflow depends on these features, you can continue to use our legacy apps" For a specific feature, indicate your support using the vote button at the top left corner of the discussion

Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
DTLow replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests
I represent hierarchy by prefixing the name For example: Budget Budget-Computer Budget-Computer-Software Works for both Notebooks and Tags >>They also share a critical limitation of folders (Notebooks) Agreed, it's a critical limitation It's a different request but I support multiple notebook assignments per note -
Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
DTLow replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests

Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
DTLow replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests
No, they're not. As I said, Notebooks and Tags are metadata fields -
I merged your post with an ongoing discussion for this feature There's no commitment or timeline but we expect/hope this gets resolved in a future update

Nesting Multiple Notebooks / Creating Sub-Notebooks
DTLow replied to cswsteve's question in General Feature Requests
Evernote has no support for folders; we only get the notebook/tag metadata fields We can emulate folders using the notebook/tag trees -

Or for years, as per this discussion I prefer to be more productive Indicate support for this request using the vote button at the top left corner of the discussion Adjust your workflow to make the best use of this product's feature set There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
