  1. I think you are referring to the fact that if you have search results (whether from a saved search or not) when you create a new note it auto populates the new note with the tags from the search. This still works if you have a single tag but not if you have multiple tags. I assume it is therefore a bug and would be worth reporting directly to EN as a support ticket https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action
  2. I agree that edit saved search does not do what it suggests. It should be renamed "rename saved search". The workaround its to just go ahead and change the search, add tag filters etc. Provided there are results you then have the option to save the search. You will need to give it a new name and then go back and delete the old one. Not good and I hope it will be changed soon.
  3. I've certainly had the issue of the expand button only working if the cursor is right at the top of the button. However it went away after restarting but has returned ocasionally since,
  4. On Windows it's there but I don't start on it and I only go to it if I want to - which is currently very rarely. You don't say what platform you are using and it may be there is no way of avoiding it on your system.
  5. Check you have the most recent version. I seem to remember it was missing from earlier versions of V10. You can also drag the note to the tag if that helps. It also works on teh web version of EN. I'm actually glad it doesn't! I tend to remember how my tags start and I don't want random tags popping up that happen to have those tags somewhere in the middle. My hierarchy insures I don't have tags like finance-bank because I have a parent tag of finance underneath which is a child tag of bank.
  6. No, it just doesn't exist. There are a few very limited options elsewhere e.g whether you want counts of notes and tags in the sidebar is in the view menu.
  7. unless you want to create a lovely new note in that big empty void.
  8. You access the menu from note -> edit tags or a keyboard shortcut (alt+ctrl+T on windows). Although it says edit tags you can use it to add tags as well. The menu has a search bar which you can type into. The tags which are found are shown within their hirarchy - which is a feature that you will either love or hate! One advantage is that you can easily add some or all of the parent tags if you want to. The disadvantage is that the list can be very long and complex. You can select tags by clicking them with the mouse. You can move through them with the arrow keys or tab but I haven't found a way of selecting the tag with the keyboard. Personally I normally drag and drop tags from the sidebar onto the note in the note list. Common tags I can normally remember and just type in the tag field at the end of the note. Another useful trick is to start tags with a "special character". So for example I have a group of tags that start with a $. So when I type in $ at the bottom I get the list of all the relevant tags Hope that helps a bit.
  9. This thread was originally about accessing links to EN from other apps. This is the other way around and is more related to the loss of file:/// type links. On Windows the workaround is to create a Windows shortcut to the file you want and then attach that to an EN note. I have no idea whether that translates to Devonthink and Mac!
  10. My issue is that I simply forget that I can add to shortcuts from the three dots menu when my normal practice is to drag the note into the shortcuts area. I'm not sure that three dots -> add to shorcuts is that much more complicated it is just the fact that I am forced to do it that way simply because EN has decided to hide the note list.
  11. I actually disagree. I remember the beginning of my tags so I don't want the list clogged up with tags that just contain those letters in random places. I use heavily nested tags so I would never have some compound tag e.g. finace-bank where I might want to type in "bank". Mine would be structured with bank as a child tag of finance. As I explained, there is always the edit tags menu if you do want a true search ie one that will match all the characters wherever they are in the tag.
  12. There has been quite alot of discussion of this together with the auto population of the note title with the beginning of the main text. Opinion is divided. To avoid using the mouse shift + tab takes you from the top of the note content to the title field.
  13. You do know that it only changes the formatting for that note don't you. If you open a new note the options will have reverted. The only real solution is to make the changes and then save the note as a template. Alternatively you could save the note and then copy it to create each new note.
  14. In my experience V10 on Windows opens in the view before the last complete shut down of the app. ie you need to either file -> quit Evernote or close the app from the task bar - don't just use the cross. So if you go to the home page and then do a complete shutdown of the app it should remember.
  15. We will never know. the ocr of images, which has always been done on the server used to show some of the same characteristics. Sometimes an image just wouldn't get indexed. The only way to force it to index was by changing the note or image. Now that all indexing is done on the server EN needs to make sure that the blips in service are very rare and there is then a robust process to recover quickly from each blip.
  16. I checked this last time here was a problem (as identified by forum traffic and my own experience) and all was apparently well!
  17. Good spot. In the keyboard shortcut list (ctrl + /) ctrl - Q is listed for both "Switchto.." and "Justify" It may be they don't intend to keep the option to justify because it is not an option in the drop down allignment menu so it was a feature that could only be accessed through a keyboard shortcut which is unusual.
  18. In my experience perhaps once a month there is an indexing problem. We see a spike of complaints on the forums but the problem goes away in a few hours. It often happens at the weekend - I guess they have to give the guy with the hammer some time off ocassionally. There can be long lasting issues of notes that never, or only very slowly, get indexed because they were crerated or updated in that time period. I would try looking on EN web and seeing if that gives the same problem adding a dummy tag to force the server to reindex Generally the process works very quickly. Sometimes it doesn't and EN's processes to recover from this are not yet robust enough.
  19. I'm probably repeating some if what @PinkElephanthas said. There are multiple ways of adding tags to a note. The two main ways, if you want to type and search for the the tag are: Start typing the tag in the tag field at the bottom of the note. It will only list those tags that start with the characters typed Use the edit tags menu (alt-ctr-T on windows). This gives a "true" search for the characters addded in to the search field
  20. Only global shortcuts are customizable - ie the shortcuts that work even when you have EN open but are not actually working in EN. The keyboard shortcuts that only work in EN (listed as general, navigation etc in the list of shortcuts) are not customizable. alt-N is not customizable and the OP obviously needs to use that to insert a polish character into an EN note. This problem has been reported many times before although less frequently now that global keyboard shortcuts can be changed.
  21. Other people have reported problems with safari elsewhere on the forum. e.g. A search for safari and webclipper might give some leads. I'm a windows user so I haven't really been following the issue,
  22. The Windows equivalent (ctrl-shift-H) does seem to be working so presumably the problem is not in the core program but something specific to the mac implementation.
  23. Spot on! The HomeDashboard has so much promise but since launch there have been no enhancements or changes at all. During the beta there were loads of really good ideas but since then nothing has happened. I like both your suggestions. I have stripped my Home down to a pinned note, the scratch pad and shortcuts. It doesn't really add anything to what I already have in the sidebar or the system tray so I don't use it. For me simply making the sizing more flexible would massively improve it's functionaility. I don't want to scroll on a dashboard. Why if I double the size of my shortcuts widget do I get icons that are double the size rather than double the number of icons? Similarly I want to expand my pinned note vertically to make the widget more note shaped!
  24. Worked perfectly for me on Chrome. May be a matter of just relaunching your browser and trying again.
