  1. @Nick L., I want to report that today, for the first time in a long time, the note lock problem happened to me again. That link is to the existing thread on this issue, where any other occurrences should be reported. But for the sake of information here, this is what happened. I edited a long note (a list of books to look for) with a lot of divider lines. I went to a certain point, inserted another divider line; oh yeah, that doesn't work; went to the end of the note, typed a word, selected the word and the divider, cut it, and pasted it where I wanted the divider to be; typed some text as I desired; saved the note; and got the dreaded "Note upload failed" message, with the red triangle ! icon on the note in the note list. From that point on, that note was dead on my phone. I was able to edit it as I desired on the Web and Windows interfaces. Syncing then added the properly edited note to the notebook on my phone as a new note there, and converted the dead note to a "Note conflict" note, but again only on the phone, since (heh) it can't be synced to the servers. I have to say, since this problem was introduced with v. 8.10, it seems like it ought to be pretty easy to see what was changed to cause it to happen. Perky little update notes on Google Play about how "we found those ugly little bugs and just squishy-squashed them all" only become more annoying when truly serious bugs like this one are allowed to persist without comment.

I'm going to note this on the v. 8.12 release thread, without a whole lot of hope.
  3. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Can you give a little more detail? For instance, when you say you cannot open files, do you mean files attached to notes, or notes themselves? Are you able to see your notebooks, the notes within them, and the contents of the notes?
  4. This has been a, umm, "feature" of checklists for quite a long time, on Android and other platforms. Many Android keyboard apps have a feature that will automatically capitalize the first word of a new sentence or paragraph, but somehow the checkbox masks the beginning of the paragraph, and the keyboard does not recognize it, and so does not capitalize. I also find this annoying. It is possible to enter a space as the first character of the checklist item, and then when you begin to type, the first letter is capitalized. But then you have to either delete the space, or tolerate its existence.
  5. Yes, that feature request now has 92 upvotes, a very high number. I've managed to stop yelling every time this message pops up (words sounding like "no chucking spit" kept coming out of my mouth), but the message literally makes no sense at all. Premium vs. Basic makes no difference. I don't keep URL-list notes, but I have a certain number of URLs in notes, and I only ever click one when I want to leave Evernote and go to the linked site. I have to stop writing this post--it's raising my blood pressure just to think about it.
  6. Yes, more choices would definitely be good. I'm afraid that pale pastel is considered "modern" or "contemporary" or some such thing ... another word in the design world for "mandatory, so eat your spinach and be quiet about it."
  7. Yeah, I had the same experience looking for the Attachment button. As with so much, once you know, you know.
  8. Sorry to hear that! No, frequent reinstalling is certainly not desirable. Have you updated to the most recent version, 8.12.1?
  9. In both the Classic and Beta Web editors, there's a green Share button at top right. That can be used to create a shareable link and add email addresses of recipients. The process generates an email to your recipients that says, "[Your name] shared a note with you" and has a "View note in Evernote" button. What happens if they don't have an Evernote account, I don't know. I've only just played around with this to test it; I don't use it normally. But that's what I've seen.
  10. Just want to say that I love the highlight colors available in the current Web editor beta. It's becoming my go-to editor for certain purposes, e.g., when I need to color-code different instructions or observations in a note. I'm eager to see them in the Windows and (dare I wish it?) Android apps. BTW, I find that the highlight colors display fine on both those platforms. Of course, the colors can't be edited as such. But they appear as background colors, and can be copied, pasted, and typed in with the highlight intact.
  11. Yes, I agree with all of this. I'm using the beta Web editor, and it took me forever to find where the function to move a note to a different notebook was hiding, in the 3-dot menu.
  12. Hi, um "FS," and welcome to the forums. I can't answer your first question--I've never had the Evernote Windows app log me out by itself, unless of course I turned the computer completely off. In the Windows program the little i for Info is among the items to the right of the title of the note, whether you're viewing the note in the note window or in a standalone window. It's pretty far to the right, so you may have to expand the window to find it. Hope you're able to get your edits back!
  13. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I believe <br> is HTML for a paragraph break. So somehow what's getting copied out of Word is getting pasted as HTML. In the (outdated) version of Word that I have, in the Options, under Advanced, in the Cut, copy, and paste section, there is Settings button for "smart cut and paste." I never knew this was there, and I don't use Word enough to mess with it. But you might want to check to see whether any of the settings there might help you.
  14. Excellent, that's great to hear! I just updated to v. 8.12.1 today, and it's working right for me now too, whether it was the update or just the fresh installation.
  15. Glad to hear it's fixed! Now I wish that my notification problems with other apps would fix themselves!
  16. This is a user-to-user forum, for the most part, so it's not a very good place to request features or report bugs. I just updated to v. 8.12.1 today, and I don't seem to have this problem. When I hide reminders, it hides all of them. Can you state the exact procedure you are using to hide the reminders, or perhaps post a screenshot?
  17. What platform are you using (Web, Windows app, Mac, Android, etc.)? If you're using the beta version of the Web interface, I think there have been reports of text being lost (I could be wrong). Try switching to the classic editor (click on the beta editor button at bottom right).
  18. This has nothing to do with what the writer of the original post requested. Are you spamming for tiny text?
  19. One other option would be to select the material on each stove on whatever Web page, then paste it into the "stove options" note. That can result in inconsistent formatting. Cal's suggestion can be done without tagging, if you're not into that, simply by letting Web clipper clip each possibility to a separate note (remember you can adjust options to clip an entire page or just a simplified version or selected material), then merge them: in the Note List select all of the notes by Ctrl+click on each one; then in the dialog that pops up select Merge. This will create one new note that combines all the original ones; the original ones are moved to Trash so you can find them if something goes wrong. You can configure the separator between original clips in the new merged note in Tools > Options > Note > Note merge options.
  20. Finally found the other report, scrolling down in the update release thread:
  21. These are mainly user-to-user forums, and specific answers from Evernote are rare here. It's a big deal to do, but if you check previous posts you'll see that uninstalling the program (after doing a complete sync!) and reinstalling it may work to fix the issue of widgets not opening the linked note.
  22. Excellent news, glad that worked! Just for the record, my point about syncing was just to be sure a sync was done before uninstalling, so that any new notes or recent edits would be saved on the Evernote servers. And just to be clear for others who may come here with this problem, uninstalling and reinstalling solved the problem of Evernote opening up to the previous note/location when tapping on a home screen shortcut/widget, correct?
  23. Hi, @RemAmmmm, and welcome to the forums. Just be sure to indicate your support for the idea by clicking on the upward pointing arrow at the top of the page. Currently, despite all the positive comments, it's only got 17 votes.
  24. Hi, and welcome to the forums. There's a specific forum group for feature requests like this: https://discussion.evernote.com/forum/449-product-feedbackfeature-requests/. Go there, and pick which platform you want to see this implemented on. Or let us know which platform you're working with (e.g., Windows) and one of us can move it there.
