  1. I believe that 'check for updates' checks to see which update is actually scheduled to come to your PC. It is dribbled out rather than released to everyone automatically. With v10.8.4 I got it immediately without asking, the previous couple of releases I had to wait for a number of days and sometimes got tired of waiting and other times was patient. I think that the Microsoft Store version is much more prompt in receiving updates. That depends of Microsoft releasing the version and it is done pretty much as soon as Evernote deliver the update to the Store.
  2. Since these are primarily user-to-ser support forums you are really speaking to fellow travellers who are finding ways to work around the issue. I've never been able to search inside encrypted text. I wouldn't expect to be able to do so since it is supposed to be protected by a password. I'm not saying that you are mistaken but I am curious as to how that could be achieved. I've just checked again and still cannot do that with the legacy program nor v10. The edit within the encrypted text is, indeed, still not available under v10. I've not seen the temporary fix you mentioned. Perhaps something which missed us all that lasted only very briefly. The fact is that encryption in Evernote has never been very robust - legacy or now. The encryption in the legacy version wasn't considered adequate by privacy purists but if you want it to work as it used to work then the advice will be to use the legacy program rather than v10. The legacy program provides everything you are familiar with. You could run both versions alongside one another or just revert to legacy until v10 catches up with the features you require. I've adopted an entirely different approach to encryption which I find to be more secure and more feature rich. It is documented. It requires a few extra steps to do the initial encryption but once done is as good and as speedy as the faulty built in encryption.
  3. Thanks Shane. Sadly, the issue still seems to be present, for me, in version 10.8.4 FWIW, I've narrowed down the issue to the following couple of common factors. It only happens after starting Evernote following either a sleep or reboot for the first time in a new day. So it will only be an issue first thing in the morning. It is then triggered when I've been looking at a note then click away to another note. THis can be by selecting the next note in the snippet column or by going to the Home Screen and choosing a note from there. As ever Quit/Restart brings the content back.
  4. You should opt for the legacy version of the software if v10 doesn't work for you yet. You get everything you paid for in the legacy version. In versio 10.8.4 there is a troubleshooting option to Reload. I think that is likely to resolve the blank screen issue temporarily. But that won't provide a permanent fix until the tech guys have located the cause of the issue.
  5. I think VIEW ONLY should be an option when a note has been shared with you. The person who created it would mark it VIEW ONLY. I'm not sure whether it is possible to do something in sharing that marks a note you have created as VIEW ONLY for yourself. Can you edit in the legacy version of Evernote or using the web browser interface? If this is your own note, and you can open it in the legacy version then, perhaps, the quickest solution would be to duplicate the naote and then delete the original version. You could try duplicating in v10 too but the view only stuff might prevent that happening.
  6. This is a function that is possible to achieve with a third-party application. I found a couple of links which offer ways to achieve this. The best that can be done whilst it isn't embedded inside Evernote. https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/make-your-androids-screen-stay-certain-apps-0171931/ This second link includes apps that just turn off screen sleep for thewhole device which isn't what the OP is seeking. But there are a couple of apps that would seem to the do the job required. https://www.guidingtech.com/android-apps-keep-screen-on/ As always my favourite search engine provided the information.
  7. I'm content with the improvements in the date/time picker that we have seen in the last couple of releases for the desktop app. The Escape key does exactly what I would expect and is the equivalent to cancel when setting reminders and takes me back the Note Information screen where I can cancel all the changes made or save what I have on screen. It feels intuitively correct for me. But I suppose the two slightly different interfaces could be harmonised - perhaps save some code And this is the problem with UI design. One user finds a particular approach the best and another wants something different. I guess, sometimes, the designers have to decide that what they have done is what is going to happen and accept that one user will be delighted and another disappointed. You are correct that the edges remain uneven but things are improving. My list of outstanding issues that affect my workflow is reducing in length.
  8. The access to v10.x is restricted depending upon Android version and device as well as location in the world. The limits are Android 10 and above and I doubt that France would be a problem. But it is quite possible that the Pixel 3A isn't included in the roll-out yet. My wife has a Pixel 3 which doesn't get Evernote 10. If you are desperate and feel able to take on the tech challenge then you could try sideloading the apk from apkmirror. If it doesn't work well you will be able to uninstall and reinstall from the Play Store back to version 8.13
  9. An alternative and quite straight forward and useful if the program you want to startup isn't listed by following the process that @Mike P points to. A standard Windows function. Win+R shell:startup Create shortcut to %localappdata%\Programs\Evernote\Evernote.exe
  10. My understanding is that the setting is at 50 notes to maintain reasonable performance on older, or less speedy, PCs. It is quite easy to increase the limit to up to 1,000 notes. Quit Evernote 10 Access the data directory at %AppData%\Evernote Open the config.json file in a text editor such as Notepad. In the "qa" section locate the line which reads: "multiSelectionLimit": 50 Change that to the number of notes you wish to allow. There is alimit of about 1,000 maximum so there's no benefit in going for a larger number. I have it set at 500. Save the amended file and restart Evernote 10. If, in the future, for any reason, you uninstall and reinstall then you'll need to edit the config.json afresh. The changes seem to survive an update. This setting should be something configurable inside Evernote but it isn't yet the case.
  11. A widget is a shortcut that can be placed on the device screen which allows the user to do something directly with an appp without opening the app and following internal menus. For example, a widget might allow you to create a new note inside Evernote bypassing several steps to get to the new note screen. I'm not quite sure what you mean by moving an Email directly into an Evernote folder. Gmail has an optional add-on to enable you to send an Email into Evernote. You also have the ability, as a Premium user, to forward the Email to your secret Evernote address and it will then appear inthe notebook you select. You can also share the screen content with Evernote which will create a new note with the Email content included. I'm not aware that there has ever been another method.
  12. I genuinely believe that the root cause of this issue isn't clear. There have been several attempts to fix and announcements that it is hoped a fix had been found but in the end not. There does seem to be a link to machines sleeping but not solely. I still get the issue after a PC restart and no sleep involved. Usually early in my working day after changing notebooks for some purpose. @SergeiM seems to have a consistent means of reproducing the issue as it affects him. But most of us are not describing the steps to reproduce with any detail and, in most cases, I think there isn't an obvious means to reproduce the result.
  13. I kind of agree. The single New Note widget button opens a blank note which is immediately offering me the option to select a different notebook and, for that matter, add tags. It really isn't any more effort than a box that opens and gives me the options to choose. Admittedly there is no widget which allows you to pre-choose a notebook so you have to choose a different notebook if you don't want it to save into your default notebook. In any case, using the new widgets generates a notification that says additional widgets are under development.
  14. My guess is that you have copied the original code from another source and then pasted it into a note. Still guessing, the additional characters are coming with the copy/paste process. My normal approach is to paste with other than astandard Ctrl+V. There isn't an option to paste with the formatting 'Keep Text Only'. To strip errant code I typically paste into a text editor then copy out of the editor into the desitination program - such as Evernote. These are the Android forums so I'll leave it there and perhaps you can move the question to where there are others who might be more knowledgeable.
  15. You shouldn't need a full restart at least not in Windows. Just select Quit in the File menu and then relaunch the program. Not a great solution but much less hassle than a full restart of the computer. Your screen shot looks to be a Mac OS result so you might find different solutions in the Mac forums.
  16. Except that it is... Lots of folk using v10.7. However, it is well established that the roll out of each new release can be slow. So much so that I usually just download the new version from evernote.com and install it manually.
  17. I have a OnePlus 8 (not pro) and Evernote 10.4 runs well with Android 11 installed.
  18. @Shane D. FWIW the blank note issue persists, for me, in Evernote 10.7.6 on the Windows desktop app (the download - not the Windows store). Today I was looking for a specific note which I recalled was in my pending notebook. It wasn't so I clicked the inbox notebook and the notes were listed in the card view but no content would display from that point forward. The issue always seems to follow a change of notebook for me.
  19. Your issue isn't common for sure. I'm assuming that you have Evernote for Android v10.4 but you don't say. This will have no relationship to your paid/unpaid status nor the fact that it works on a different device. I would try one more reinstall and if that doesn't work use your ability as a Premium user to open a support ticket on the Evernote website.
  20. The preferences are spread around the various menus. For example, "Show note counts in sidebar" is in the view menu. There are two specific Preferences under Preferences in the Tools menu. But the options for setting preferences are very limited. I'm not sure where you are heading. As others have noted, there is no single file or folder that holds the Evernote data. Your primary backup is in the cloud. The usxual reason for folk searching for the .exb file is hte desire to copy everything for backup. If so the best you can do with EN v10 would be to backup the two folders %AppData%\Evernote %LocalAppData%\Programs\Evernote But since I'm not sure if that's what you are trying to achieve this may not be the answer you are seeking. To backup notebooks you can use the export option inside the program.
  21. Actually @PinkElephant this is a regular issue with the push from Evernote in the desktop application rather than the one that comes via the Microsoft Store. Ironically, the Store app usually rolls along pretty speedily but the downloaded app from the EN website is OFTEN very slow in rolling out. So much so that I regularly just pop along to evernote.com and download the latest version.
  22. I truly don't understand this request but I've been known to misunderstand many things. What is the difference between the request and simply signing out? Just asking...
  23. Please describe the steps you are following so that we can advise more accurately.
  24. There is a solution forthis issue in one of the recent threads. Have a browse down and it should become clear.
