  1. Hi. If you're wanting to avoid cutting and pasting, you might want to look into Phrase Express - http://www.phraseexpress.com/ - it's a 'text expander' that works like your spellcheck, except instead of autcorrecting "teh" into "the", it'll take a short series of characters and produce something much longer. You set up the connections yourself, so if you typed (forinstance) "beef stew" you could have PE always show the full link to that recipe note. (Now I think of it, I'm not sure whether you could insert an active link so 'beef stew' came up as 'beef stew' - but it's worth investigating...) Or you could add a code to each recipe so AA105 would expand to the link.. Don't know if it's helpful, just sayin'...
  2. The fix is here.. https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/87863-new-evernote-for-windows-591/?p=376461
  3. Hi. When you save the changes, where are they saved? Check the folder path. - And please confirm your OS.
  4. I also agree that tags are initially less intuitive, and that there is a 'brain training' period of months during which tags can be downright infuriating. But once you get used to the concept it's like riding the proverbial bike. I don't think either method is better - but from all appearances Evernote has no plans to change from the present layout, so it's get used to the practice, or find different software. Getting false hits is par for the course with any large database. It's inevitable that the more (and longer) documents you store, the more likely any given series of words is to have matches. The search syntax also takes a little getting used to, but once you can use it effectively it is possible to find exactly the material you need within one or two operations. You can then tag that material permanently or temporarily to make searches easier, or save the successful search for further use. There's lots of discussion and many suggestions for data organisation throughout the forums if you wish to delve further.. or if you have any specific questions please feel free to raise them.
  5. Hi. RTL support is sadly lacking for the moment - it may be on a back burner somewhere, but Evernote don't usually share their work in progress or likely release dates...
  6. What is it that you're wanting to do? If you watch videos you presumably use specialised software for that - what's the difference in using email software to send emails? Evernote does a number of things really well. It can send emails too - if you really want it to...
  7. You guys might want to look into Transpose.com as a potential template source, though there's no mobile version that I'm aware of - yet..
  8. As far as I can remember, tagging or untagging a note doesn't affect the updated date; and repeating reminders aren't an option in Evernote, though they do pop up (literally!) in other applications. I can imagine that you might be able to set yourself a schedule so all items manually tagged SR1 (or tagged SR and created on a specific date) would pop up through a saved search at regular intervals - just set up a repeating reminder to run that search every three days. When it does run you could also change the reminder to 7 days, then 14 (or whatever intervals drive your SR schedule...). Any of the To-do apps, Swipes/ TickTick/ Azendoo etc should give you the repeats and allow easy edits. Saved searches can give you the relevant note(s). That does rely on your tagging the note correctly in the first place, but it might be manageable...at least until some enterprising developer comes up with a practical SR+Evernote application.
  9. Yeah, Revunote went missing a while ago - don't know why. Would be good to know when/ if you get a response... Edit: Oh yeah - and: This discussion in the forums covers the subject in detail - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/82427-spaced-repetition-with-evernote Wired on Peter Wozniak (who apparently invented this) - http://archive.wired.com/medtech/health/magazine/16-05/ff_wozniak Flashcard software to help study - https://www.studyblue.com/evernote Software designed to use the spaced repetition method - http://help.supermemo.org/wiki/SuperMemo_Screenshot_Tour
  10. Not radical - suggested several dozen times already.. There's a change of CEO though, and we're still waiting for the other shoe to drop after that...
  11. Yup - I live in the UK too. Don't know what the current situation with Android might be, but if you check the threads I'd think Evernote will be keen to allow the database to be moved when they can find a way to do so without compromising normal operations. I now have a Note 4 with 32GB of mostly empty storage which 'could' hold my database if only I could find a way to move it that didn't involve rooting. The feature must be on a to-do list somewhere, it's only a question of when (and if) it fits in with ongoing plans... I don't think any other note-taking apps (ie ON and Keep) have an SD option either.
  12. Anything in your Trash notebook, or synced to other devices? If you're Premium I'd suggest raising a support request, if note just a bug/ lost data report - choose "report a bug..." in the first dropdown after logging in here > https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action - or in both cases reach out on Twitter @Evernotehelps (include the forum thread URL for extra background). Can't really suggest what might have happened, but the golden rules for avoiding a repeat would include... Where you have a network connection, sync your notes often when creating them, and avoid major edits until you have a chance to use a desktop.Email completed/ key notes to yourself as a backupAlways confirm that sync has completed before logging out/ switching off-There are probably more; any suggestions from the floor?
  13. Hmmn. Just gone over 20,000 notes with no major issues.. and yes, I sometimes forget what I saved a year or two ago. My concern though is to have as much information at hand as possible to deal with a current query. I do searches (having fixed some time ago on long informative titles for notes) which usually find what I need. Sometimes I have additional surprises...
  14. Hi. No settings that I'm aware of - a first-time share should generate an email, even if it is to a non-evernote address; the recipient would be able to add it to his existing account if that were the case. The only thing I can think of is that a 'wild' spam filter ate your email before it could be received. If your son has another email address you could try again...
  15. Hi. Not yet - this is a job you need to do on a desktop...
  16. Hmmn. Have you started the chat with him via an email address that is not the same as the one on which his Evernote account is based?
  17. There is a USB version which seems good, and it integrates well with DropBox and existing folders and files - quite a few interesting features; but if you want something bespoke, and you have the time and the talent, this (apparently) include both Android and Windows implementations... http://www.lynda.com/course-tutorials/Building-Note-Taking-App-Android/377485-2.html
  18. Hi. It's already possible to encrypt and decrypt PDF files with a (usually paid-for) PDF editor, annotate the content and re-encrypt back into an Evernote attachment. Don't see the incentive for Evernote to allocate resources into reinventing that particular wheel.
  19. If you sort the notes by created date, things should -literally- fall into place...
  20. @mcheng - good call on removing the original email, but you may want to look at the forum settings too - along with a dozen or so others I 'follow' this forum and receive emails with the full text of original posts, so have all of the email addresses available. I'll (obviously) delete it, but maybe a warning to new posters about including personal details would be a good idea?
  21. I agree to a point - I think it's better to have a specific plan and stick to it rather than being jerked this way and that with calls from users to 'edit images' 'embed videos' 'calendars' 'to-do lists', but sometimes, you do wonder where Evernote gets its inspirations from...
  22. Evernote very rarely comment on feature requests - possibly on the basis that if they spend their time justifying where things sit in their priority list, or explaining why they don't have something there yet, they'll have even less time to actually fix and develop things.
