  1. Hi. Multiple note selection doesn't appear to work on the new web client yet, but if you revert back to the old version, Ctrl + click (in Windows) will pop up the familiar merge / tag / move sub-menu.
  2. Nope - workaround continues to be: send notes to yourself @ your professional account; forward email (suitably edited) from there.
  3. Nope - there's no 'All Notes' option. Best you can get is a specified notebook. Unless you have a very small database - or a very large device memory - I'm not sure what benefit an 'all notes' display would be. Without a network connection some or all of the notes would be unavailable. Because (like most) my device has limited internal storage, I have one notebook where I move all the notes I currently need to be able to see on the phone. The contents rotate depending on my needs. That notebook is offline searchable, and that's the one I keep in my List widget. Currently the mobile notebook has 42 notes in it, as compared with the 19.5K in my main database.
  4. As to 'why' - Evernote doesn't really seem to envisage notebooks as anything more than a special type of 'tag' - a container to hold a batch of notes so you can do more specialised searches. The idea that different batches of notes might need different sorting methods for a static display presumably didn't occur to them. I'll agree that I have one specific notebook where the 'created date' of my notes has been changed to the upcoming event date (in 2016) of a series of events, and the intent is to share this notebook with a ToC created with the notes sorted by ascending created date as a diary for the year. However my All Notes list is sorted the opposite way so I get the most recent notes at the top of my list. I was thinking about setting up a Phrase Express hot key to change to the notebook view and resort the notes - and maybe also generate a ToC note - all with one keypress combination. I don't think Phrase Express is Mac-friendly, but Lifehacker has a few Mac suggestions - http://lifehacker.com/5843903/the-best-text-expansion-app-for-mac Other than that any searches I need to do by notebook are "notebook:<mynotesbook> intitle:<keyword/ date>" so IMO there's not a pressing need for a separate preference for each notebook - others may disagree...
  5. Hi. That's not an Evernote preference. Have a look at OfficeSuite7 in Android > Application Manager and scroll down to the defaults. I think you should find OS7 is the default 'handler' for files of certain types. Clear those settings, and next time you open a file you should have a choice to use OS7 or AndrOPen 'just once' or all the time. Choose 'all the time' and that should solve the problem.
  6. It's a reasonable feature request, though I tend to open the app either to add a note or to search for specific information, so the initial display just tells me it's awake and ready to rumble. I guess I also sometimes edit a recent note so a notes display in 'created date' order lets me see the last note quickly...
  7. Nope, sorry - you could save a 'standard' blank template and copy that to a new note each time you go shopping...
  8. The 'export to html' trick is a generic option for most wordprocessors - not everyone uses Word, and there are at least three flavours of word doc; lots of coding required...
  9. Have a look at SafeRoom - http://www.getsaferoom.com/ "mobile and desktop apps embedded into existing platforms providing users with zero-knowledge encryption using standard AES-512 algorithm and standard iOS/ Android/ MacOS/ Windows built-in libraries." Feedback from users - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/81336-saferoom-zero-knowledge-encryption-for-evernote-and-more/ I use LastPass for logins and Evernote for data. EN would be clunky and cumbersome for passwords.
  10. Wow - I'm even more local; Newport just down the road (give or take 50 miles...)
  11. I assume the Apple apps you're copying from have already done whatever translation is necessary to the link to make it operate as a normal 'open local file' link, Accordance doesn't seem to be quite so open with its links.
  12. Hi. AFAIK Evernote requires links of a specific type: either web pages - http:// or www, email addresses with an '@', or file:/// which tells Evernote to open a local file on your computer. As yet it doesn;t know what to do with your accord link. You'd need to know more about Apple / ElC's rules on links, and how (if at all) Evernote could be set up to navigate to the reference. I'd suggest raising a support ticket - click Troubleshooting in the Help Center (link below in my sig) and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the 'Contact Support' button.

  14. LOL. No defense involved - just wondering why folks don't have better things to do with their time like getting stuff done. I know I do.. All done with this topic now too!
  15. Hi. Are all these notes in the same notebook? You may be receiving 'Conflicting Changes' notifications - if two devices are connected to the same account in Evernote and both save different version of the same note - "Evernote creates a duplicate note with any edits made. This duplicate note is automatically saved to a notebook named “Conflicting Changes...” along with a unique timestamp. Users are responsible for determining which changes they would like to keep or discard." The trick is to manually sync before, during and after any changes are being made.
  16. I don't understand why it's so hard to accept that Evernote have their own agenda and will get around to stuff in their own good time. Not doing something doesn't mean they don't know how to do it, or are deliberately being obstructive. It's common business sense to get rid of the small easy stuff and carefully plan for the harder jobs. Meantime no one's suggesting we have to break out the candles and start building log fires, just - if plan A isn't working, try plan B. My days usually end up around plan Z anyways...
  17. Can't find the reference, but I do remember a post by one Employee about much-requested missing features - along the lines of "some stuff we can do immediately, because it's just extra code; other things need a fundamental rewrite because the mechanism to provide that feature just doesn't exist, and we'd need to replace whole blocks of code - which already links to other features - to add it. That requires serious resource, risk assessment and planning. The easy stuff we can do quickly, the more complicated stuff takes a lot longer." - Evidence the recent Editor updates that hit after some years' development - which by-the-by might have been necessary before extra bells and whistles like sorting could be added... (That's my recollection not their words so I apologise for any misinterpretations!) Like @Metrodon says - I'm not 'against' sorting, and I'll definitely use it if/ when it's available. But it's not currently possible; so I do the 'use another app' dance when I need to sort. It's a pain, but that's the way the world currently works. Evernote will fix it when they're ready to do so.
  18. Hi. You don't say whether you're a basic, plus or premium user, and of course there are differences in the amount you're allowed to save in one note and upload in one month for each of those accounts. It's possible you exceeded the limit to cause this problem, though you'd need a lot of large pictures to exceed the single note / upload limits for even the basic account. Either way I'd recommend you raise a support ticket - follow the Help Center in my signature below and scroll to the bottom of the Troubleshooting page for the Contact Support button.
  19. No problem for the 'help' although it didn't get you very far.. When my Android Note 4 saves a clip I get a spinning green icon to indicate the clip is in progress, and if you tap the icon before it finishes - which in your case should give you plenty of time - there's an option to untick 'save full article' and just save the URL. If you clip with that option the setting is remembered. Does it make things move faster to deliberately clip just the URL? Not a fix I know, but it may help..
  20. Hi. The only way (AFAIK) is to set up another account, move the notes to that account, and share a 'read only' notebook back to your original account.
  21. H. No reason that I know of - are the 'blue' pages identical with the others? Same background colour / same text colour and size / same lighting conditions? If so, I'd suggest you check through the Help Center pages (see the link in my sig) and contact support to raise a bug report / ask for tech support. Scannable carries out a lot of image enhancement, and maybe the same settings that turn out black and white pages under normal circumstances will also give black on blue if the lighting is marginal.
  22. Hi. Closing Evernote with File > Exit will save the current note sort order, but not the size of a new window. If you're opening a new note in its own window, Windows should remember the window size on close, and open new similar windows at the same size - just tried that on my Win 8.1 system, and it seems to work... If it's not working for you, sadly there are no settings to adjust.
  23. Hmmn. I looked again at 2pm (install + 2 hours) and the Backupery window said 'working'; then checked again just - 5pm (+5hrs) and it showed the same - was preparing to be underwhelmed, but when I checked the backup file location, a 17GB file is happily sitting there with a modified time of 12.52 which is about an hour after install. So it looks like even my heavyweight database got copied in an hour or less, which is actually pretty good. The EXB file is 14GB so there's a bit of expansion when you export, but I have USB drives that are bigger than that. (Wouldn't recommend using one though because the data transfer rates are pants*...) Subject to the reservations and suggestions above, this is a sweet bit of software. Thanks! * UK slang for sub-optimal in a bad way
  24. OK I downloaded the app too (latest version) - first thoughts are: on Install, Windows immediately 'protected' me from unknown software - kinda unsettling if you aren't expecting it...The first backup starts immediately without any warnings or options - agree with Morticia I'd like a choice where it goes, and I'd suggest a 'backup now, or postpone?' (for 1/2/4/8 hours) option.Checking the About tab I see this is a trial version expiring on 31/10Some sort of a progress bar would be good - I got 'working' but how do I know when it's finished? Can I sleep/ switch off the machine in the meantime?- I'll add any further comments when the operation finishes. Currently running at 30% disk / 90% memory (4GB Win 8.0 lappy here). More to follow...
