  1. How is it limiting? You have survived without it for however long you have been a subscriber. Boolean search is brand new and no-one has ever had it before. Though some posts prior another member actually showed how to use existing EN search to get the same results. Cheap or not cheap is personal opinion. For what I use EN for I find $69/year to be very reasonable. At some point everyone has to make the decision if it worth it or not personally. Sounds like you are in the process. And whether or not you consider features basic or not really has no bearing on what EN offers and what tiers they put features.
  2. How do you/we know that EN is not gaining more new subscribers than the ones they are losing? EN is out to make $$$ so I highly, highly doubt that the changes have been made without usage data. The internet is a echo chamber of negativity and complaints because folks who are generally happy have no reason to say anything. So we see a disproportionate posts that are negative. Personally I see no need for damage management for any updates or changes made recently. I know not everyone thinks this, but to me the apps and features are going in a great direction. They work very well for me. Sure I’d like to see some changes and fixes, but it’s good now. Keep it up.
  3. I am guessing you are a free account and lost access to the task panel (central tasks view). You need to search for the note(s) that have the tasks in them and you’ll be able to see and interact with them. You did not lose access to your tasks, just certain aspects of tasks. Here is the help page about tasks. If you really did lose access reach out to support.
  4. I amused by everyone saying something very similar to this. And at the same time EN has “rewarded” long time customers by allowing them to keep the old rate plans….that new customers cannot even sign up for. Really the only thing that current premium/personal customers do not get is Boolean search. And as pointed out earlier in the thread by a couple folks you can accomplish almost the same thing using current search. back to my 🍿
  5. Maybe try on your mobile device and upgrade through the App Store? I have not done that myself, but is another option. Unless this is how you already tried.
  6. The Personal Plan is the new “Premium”. It is not a downgrade.
  7. You have a default Task note that you can put tasks into “Things To Do”. You do not need to make each task it’s own note. If you create a task with the quick action while not in a note the task defaults into the single note.
  8. If you’re not squared away you need to log out and back in. There was a bug yesterday causing some account problems with Home and Tasks.
  9. Sounds like a bug some folks ran into yesterday. You need to log out of your account and back in. If that does not fix your task access email support. Here is the page that shows what you will get with your legacy premium pricing.
  10. Log out and back in. That fixed issue I was having on iOS. Assume it’ll fix it on other platforms as well since it’s a issue server side.
  11. There are a few new things included in the Personal. Might not be a big deal to some, but here is from @Shane D.post introducing new plans. NEW–Evernote Personal All the features of Evernote Free and Premium, plus: NEW: Tasks lets you create tasks in your notes and manage them all in one summarized view. You can set reminders, due dates, and notifications to help you stay focused. NEW: Connect Evernote to your primary Google Calendar account to keep meeting and event details synced with your related notes. NEW: Get more Home widgets and adjust the layout to fit your style.
  12. Yep, thanks. I should have tried that first. Also, great to see the Tasks widget!
  13. There seems to be a hiccup in this today. As a premium, now personal, user I should be able to edit widgets and my home screen. I cannot do this on my iPad. I should also be able to email/chat support. However, I cannot open a ticket and when I try to submit one I am told to upgrade. Hopefully these issues get resolved somewhat quickly today.
  14. The bummer of this is that it is able to be done on mobile apps. Hopefully they offer this ability on mobile soon as well.
  15. Gotcha - I’ve had the same thoughts about filtering by stacks as well. @Mike Pshared a way to filter notes that have tasks and tagged with a specific tag in a previous post. Hoping as EN adds more features to tasks filtering and viewing is easier.
  16. EN has said that tasks are part of a note, not the other way around. So if you need to use tags for tasks you must tag the containing note and put tasks you want tagged differently in a separate note.
  17. Is the list item already a link? Or do you have a link as a separate line item? If the task name is a link it should work on the desktop apps (mobile coming in the near future). If you have the name as the link maybe there is something in the conversion from list item to task. I’d reach out to support and ask if the link should stay or not.
  18. If you need to add more context and information to a task it is easy enough to move the task to a new note after you create it. This prevents the default task note from becoming cluttered with additional text.
  19. I used saved searches with filters for work and personal task separation with the new early access feature. I keep notes separated by notebooks and filter tasks based on notebooks for work/personal.
  20. I use Evernote for both personal and work. Right now I have everything broken into two stacks - personal and work stacks. I have been doing different things with completed tasks depending on there the task lives and what the task was. Doing these things mainly so that my task panel is not a list of 50 notes long….. default task note - personal tasks i usually just end up deleting quick and easy tasks if it’s something I want to know I did and keep track of I move the task to a “completed tasks” note that I made. I also have a link to this note in my default task note tasks within a note - personal i have done two things. 1) delete the task if it was something I do not need to remember I did 2) copy task into a checkbox I can mark done so I know I did it without clogging the task panel view task within a note - work if the note still has uncompleted tasks OR is a note that I will be adding more tasks to I leave the completed tasks alone (no reason to remove them to clean view up if there are more or more coming) i mainly delete tasks for work as they are not project based and I don’t need to keep track of what I did if I do need to keep track of what I did I again convert the task into something
  21. I’ve been running into the view only bug as well. I can self fix it by force closing the app (swipe EN app away) and get into edit mode easy enough as a work around. Definitely not a fun bug and very recent to me. I submitted a support ticket and was told it’s a known issue.
  22. No. EN Tasks do not sync with any other services.
  23. The bulleted list in my post was visual only - they would actually be tasks you could flag and assign due dates within a note. The idea is to make the note the over all task and then use tasks within that mote as your sub tasks.
  24. Not sure how doing the right thing is indenting tasks - does that really make them hierarchical? Or is it just a visual way to see your tasks? You can do this already by making the note the parent task. Then you can view your tasks by note on the task panel, which allows you to collapse tasks so you only see the note titles. You do not need to use the default task note for tasks. You can have as many task notes as you want…. note title (main task title) Task in note another task in note etc… I do not recall EN dying one way or another if indenting tasks is on the road map or not.
