  1. That's never stopped us in the past šŸ˜Ž. This is all on Evernote for offering the freemium model to begin with. All those free users were supposed to fall in love with Evernote and migrate to a paid plan. All that happened is that free users found a plan good enough to stay free. I admire BS for taking the long-overdue step away from the free plan though I think their random approach to locking down some users but not others is wrong. They should make the change across the board to all new users, and then think of a way to manage the millions of current free users. This random, unannounced approach is frustrating to those affected, especially if another user in the same household isn't. It is also confusing since the online free plan documentation is now only correct for some users, and wrong for others. I don't think this marketing test, assuming that is what this is, is unethical, but it is ill-conceived.
  2. You need to be on the professional plan to get more than one scratchpad.
  3. There is definitely a learning curve with using ai search. With standard search I would have also searched on ā€œcomputer desk.ā€ Simple words is how I initially tried using ai search, also with poor results. The success rate was much better when using more descriptive requests. Just now I asked it when my HVAC system was last checked and it popped out the correct date. With standard search, I would have searched by the company name which is fairly common and would have pulled up other notes as well. Iā€™m not a convert yet, and Iā€™m still bothered by the third party access to my notes, but I do find this interesting and am curious to see how it evolves.
  4. Has Evernote provided any insight into what the cause of the support backlog is? Is it v10 new user issues, cost complaints or some true technical issues? Iā€™m not seeing that many technical issues on the forum, so Iā€™m curious as to what is causing the support pressure?
  5. I have found in the past that just the .exb file was needed but it has probably been several years since Iā€™ve tried it.
  6. With Legacy using Windows you could backup the .exb file and know you had everything in that one file. I miss that option with v10. I'm on a Mac now and I suppose there is a directory that could be backed up and restored but I've not tested that and I haven't noticed any other users on the forum post the results of that test.
  7. If you are referring to the history of what you are searching for within your own notes, then I have to admit I donā€™t. If you are concerned about the security of your Evernote search history, I would first be more concerned about the security of your notes.
  8. I like that idea except where this problem bothers me most is with web clips. Regardless of definition it would still be wrong likely most of the time. I prefer snippet view but Iā€™m tired of fighting this, so like @Boot17 Iā€™ve moved over to list view.
  9. Iā€™m not disputing that, Iā€™m suggesting that you also report this to support so if there is a problem, they can fix it. Notifying other users here is fine but those that frequent the forum likely already know about the plan and cost changes.
  10. If you havenā€™t already have you confirmed that the email Evernote has on record is one that you still use and check? Assuming you purchased this directly from Evernote (I donā€™t know how the stores handle this) they are likely using some automated script to send out the information on subscriptions renewals. We know this ā€œmostlyā€ works since many of us have received the emails. Since you havenā€™t, it would be helpful if you reported the omission to Evernote. Then maybe they can figure out what is wrong with their automated system so others wonā€™t also miss emails. If you are affected, others probably are too.
  11. I was first aware of the change coming in the forum, but I just checked my email history. My upgrade date is Aug 24, and they sent me an email on July 27. I saw the account name change earlier in my account as well. I think they just flipped the switch on all of the accounts at once. They could have done it differently but it was probably easier to convert the plans all at once. The big issue is deciding if you want to continue with the price hike and stay on v10, or move on to something else. There are many options and opinions out there. Good luck with your decision.
  12. Well, in one sense, he was downgraded, like we all were. Under the old plan premium was the top tier. Now it is professional. When they converted all of us premium users over to the new plan, premium members were moved to the new personal plan. If you wanted to be in the top tier again you have to upgrade to professional. IIRC the new personal plan was similar (maybe same) as the old premium plan, so not really a downgrade. I saw it more of a plan name change.
  13. The original Evernote team had very strong feelings that tags were the way to go and allowed for nested tags to mimic folder behavior. That said some still preferred traditional folders. Evernote added stacks that act as a container for notebooks but that was as far as they took it. V10 was a complete rewrite. I think if sub-notebooks were to be added, that would have been the time, and they werenā€™t so I think that decision has been made.
  14. That is your experience and I won't debate the point but as I mentioned earlier, it is not the expected or typical behavior and Legacy has a limited life so you may want to try and sort this out or look for a plan B. Many users will load V10 for the first time and then immediately test it out and complain about notes not loading, search isn't correct, and many other issues. They basically did not give the installation enough time to complete in the background. It does sound like you are past that so support is probably your next best step.
  15. Iā€™m not surprised that v6 is working fine. You have been using it for a while, I assume, and you have a stable installation. What you are experiencing with v10 is not expected or typical. Itā€™s possible that there is something wrong with your installation. Have you tried completely removing it with something like Appcleaner and then reinstalling on your Mac? Also, Iā€™m not sure if dual installations are recommended anymore. Maybe the note conversions back and forth are somehow affecting this.
  16. No. There has been a lot of discussion about this over the years. The recommended way is to use tags and subtags instead.
  17. How long are you waiting after installing v10? It takes time to download the database and generate a new index. If adding a new PDF it still takes a little time to index . PDF search is working fine for me.
  18. I donā€™t know if they dare to make mistakes or are just making more mistakes. I think the old team would have caught some of the recent problems before releasing updates. Iā€™ve been attributing it to them learning the code and getting their feet under them, but every release there appears to be something they missed. Today I updated my iPad to 10.56.3 and now the task widget doesnā€™t work and appears blank. It is no big deal and they will get it fixed but it does seem to me like they could do a better job testing new releases. I agree there is more apparent energy and that is good, but expected. They just bought Evernote and are highly motivated to make it a viable product for them. Letā€™s see if they can maintain it.
  19. I donā€™t think Iā€™m following your question. What specifically are you seeing that is the concern? The task view pulls all of your tasks out of every note will list them in that view whether there was one in a note or several.
  20. I think the jury is still out and it is too soon to tell. It does appear they are trying hard to address fundamental issues but there have been some missteps along the way and the price increase that was introduced, IMO, much too soon, is driving some away. Also, some folks are still reporting data loss. Iā€™m sticking around for now but will be interested to see where we are in another year.
  21. I may not always agree with someoneā€™s position but Iā€™m usually able to see where they are coming from, but with this topic Iā€™m struggling. Instead of 30 seconds, I would say it is more like a 5 second manual operation. I understand that folks dislike losing a function they had, but I see no urgency for this one. There is a long list of other fixes and improvements they should focus on first, and then maybe, or maybe not, get around to this one.
  22. I really doubt that they did a deep dive analysis of every feature to determine whether it was worthy of implementing in V10 or not. This was written from scratch and I think it was rather more likely that they first had a list of basic functionality needed so they could push it out as quickly as possible, which they did, though too soon in my opinion. Then, at some later date, start adding back in some of the user requests.
  23. This brought a smile to my face. Iā€™ve worked with numerous UX designers in the past and the word objective doesnā€™t come to mind. You could put 5 of them in a room and each and every one of them would fight to the death defending their own uniquely objective opinion šŸ˜€.
  24. I agree this was a useful feature. I used it as well. Once they get the stability and speed issues addressed and they start to look at UI improvements as they have suggested, I hope they will consider additions such as this.
