  1. Please do not post the same question multiple times. Research other note apps. Most, maybe all, can import Evernote data. There is a lot of information on the forum. You are not the first person here to complain about the price increase and want to move on.
  2. There are several export options in Evernote that can be used to import your data into another app. You are most definitely not trapped.
  3. Have you tried accessing your account on the web to see if the problem exists there too?
  4. As a free user you should be able to download a desktop version and export from there. You will be limited to two devices so if you are already using two you will need to disconnect one first. Worse case, sign up for a month.
  5. We each have our own opinion on these topics. I prefer keeping certain information off the cloud and local notebooks was a great solution for that. It was one of the unique features of Evernote that made it special to me.
  6. encryption: in the search box works. I'm familiar with that one. Maybe the others do as well.. Update: content:encryption - doesn't work From the filter - contains - encrypted does work Both the filter and encryption: in the search box return the same number of notes on my system.
  7. I'm currently in the meh category. I've tried it a few times with mixed results. To be honest, I would try it more if it was entirely in-house. I'm not thrilled about my notes going to a third party. I understand they are protected and deleted after a time, but to me, it is one more potential fault area.
  8. Yes. If you don't, what you have encrypted will be unreadable in a different app. To find all of your encrypted notes, search on: encryption:
  9. One possibility is using a password manager such as 1Password. That has a secure note section that would work as a nice replacement for your secure notes. Whichever app you migrate to, the encryption scheme of Evernote will not import into any other app. Make sure to unencrypt notes before moving them over.
  10. One of the advantages of local notebooks was the security aspect. If I wanted to keep information secure, I would keep it in a local notebook. I was responsible for the security, but I was ok with that. I would, as an example, keep all work-related information in local notebooks as well as personal financial information. The fact that it was still searchable by Evernote made it a brilliant solution IMO. I miss having them. That was my biggest V10 loss. I don't see other competitors offering local notebooks but some do provide encrypted notebooks, which would be my preferred solution for a cloud-only app.
  11. 50 notes is a total and one notebook is a total as well. You don't select just one to use. They are obviously trying to move folks off the free plan, one way or another.
  12. You should charge them a fee for proofreading. They don't appear to be doing it in-house.
  13. It sounds like the issue is between your Android app and Evernote Web. I'm not an Android user, but this still doesn't sound right to me. Make sure you are using the new web interface. It is under Account Summary. Maybe an Android user will jump in and also help out. If you are fully in v10, I don't think this should be happening.
  14. This is incorrect. Paying more (my emphasis above) implies that you have paid something, which is not the case. I don't fault you for having and enjoying a free ride. That is on Evernote for enabling that in the first place, but when you whine about the free ride ending, that crosses the line IMO. Be thankful for the free service that you received and either pay your share now or move on.
  15. If OneNote is working out for you great, honestly. I do want to comment on your reformatting notes over and over comment. That was definitely a problem with the Legacy version. V10 has a consistent, though limited, text formatting editor across platforms. It sounds like maybe you haven't tried v10 before jumping ship. If the issue is cost, that is understandable, but there is no longer a mixed formating problem.
  16. Of course it is. It was free for years because it was funded by venture capitalists, with the hope that the free plan would convert users over to a paid plan, which never happened, so Evernote either finds a way to be profitable or it dies.
  17. Please explain this. The only ads that Evernote has ever had are ones to encourage users to either subscribe or to update into a higher tier. Free users don’t provide any revenue. That is the problem and it is not sustainable. Free users may be a large and loyal group but they are not helping to pay the bills. Converting some of them into a paid plan and cutting the rest will.
  18. How do you verify and check anything on the internet? Research it as best as you can. The point of my post was to make sure to include data security in your evaluation. Basically read up on what they post about it. Could it be lies? Possible, but I doubt it.
  19. Out of curiosity ... why? It may be helpful to others to know why.
  20. Well , it did what it was supposed to do, but told you incorrectly. That is concerning, but I’m not sure there is any other option.
  21. As you test drive various Evernote options and compare features and functions also be mindful of security and how they protect your data.
  22. It might be for those that have managed nicely on a free plan, but for those of us that are subscribers and have been funding the free plans, it is long overdue. What is the downside of dropping accounts that provide no revenue to the company?
  23. If a specific tag locks the note can’t you search on the tag, then select all and just remove it? That is a useful feature. It would be nice if Evernote implemented something similar.
  24. I understand. It is a lot of money. If you are only using Evernote for the occasional note, I agree, it is not worth the price. There are plenty of other free, or lower price options out there. Evernote can do much more, and although I think the price point is too high, I’m willing to pay for another year to continue using it and see how it evolves.
