  1. I don’t know about it being at the puppies and rainbow stage yet, but it has improved greatly since it was first introduced in, I think, May. I also had some problems with it initially, but as of recent releases, it has worked pretty well for me.
  2. That is the desktop app, but it is Chromium based which is web-like, maybe that is what is causing the confusion.
  3. After what I just experienced, I think, personally, I would like AI search to be a two-step process. I would prefer that it first presents the list of notes that it planned on sending to the AI engine, and then the second step is that you give it approval to proceed. I just gave it a try and I thought I read somewhere that initially it only sent over up to 8 notes. When I just tried it, it appeared to send over many more than that, including some that I wish had not been sent. If I had seen the list of notes first that it planned to send, I would have halted the search at that point. Not knowing ahead of time which notes will be sent to the 3rd party, is making me even more hesitant to use this.
  4. https://evernote.com/download I'm not sure what you downloaded, but you can download either a Windows or Mac desktop version from this link.
  5. Is it truly crashing or are you just getting the spinning icon? Unfortunately, and this has been discussed a lot in the forums, the note conversion is not done all at once in the background. It is only triggered as you access each old note, so leaving it open doesn't help this conversion process. Try to open one PDF and wait to see if it does eventually load. This is my guess as to what is happening, but maybe there is something else going on.
  6. If you just installed V10, two things: there is a one-time back-end note conversion process for each old note that takes a little time. Also, depending on the size of your database, it can take some time to download it.
  7. It is when not if. The decision on custom fonts was made in the design of V10. They decided to go for uniformity across the platforms rather than allow for custom fonts. If this is a line in the sand for you, then the time to move to a different app is now.
  8. I think the comment making other users suffer, is a bit strong, but I can understand the companies desire to stop supporting an older technology that provides a redundant function.
  9. Why? V10 implemented real time editing which essentially is instantaneous syncing. They have been working through some problems but it removes the need for a sync button.
  10. In V10 they have implemented a new sync technology called RTE, real time editing. It is basically instantaneous character by character syncing. At a minimum, it is very inefficient for the company to maintain two distinct sync mechanisms and maintaining support for the old one is likely holding them back from introducing some new features.
  11. I think in many cases you are confusing support for acceptance. It is no surprise that those of us that have enjoyed using and discussing this software for years have gotten to the acceptance stage quickly. We find value in the product and after some internal debate we’ve made our decision. I can’t speak for everyone but I doubt anyone is happy about the increase. I’m not and I think it is too high for what it provides and I think the increase was ill timed, but the company made the decision and set their price. I spent time reviewing other options and came to the conclusion that although I don’t like the price, I accept it and have renewed for another year. Next year I will go through this decision process again. If someone is not getting the full value out of Evernote and only using it for simple notes or grocery lists then yes, the price is shocking and they should either move to the free plan or another app.
  12. That is a personal decision that you will need to make, not a collective one. We all have unique software needs. In the meantime, you can downgrade to free while you decide.
  13. That would be my preference as well, but if their intent is to keep the free plan then I think a lower entry point option would be helpful, assuming the new rates are adversely impacting retention.
  14. The plus plan didn’t succeed before but now that the price is $129, maybe an entry plan makes sense now. I realize that finding the right feature balance for a lower price plan could be challenging. Everyone has their own opinion on what that should be, but it might be worth trying again.
  15. Yup, we see that on the US site as well. It is possible that the discount isn't offered to professional subscribers that fall back to free. They probably realize that it is an empty threat.
  16. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I tried a couple of times before my renewal and never got the offer. I reached out to support and was told it was random. This is why I don't play the lottery.
  17. Not quite the same thing but you can drag a note to the saved search section in the left hand pane and “pin” a note there.
  18. Any decision you make is reversible. The easy answer is to downgrade and then see if you miss anything that you can’t live without. Also there is a help page out there that lists the differences. As a result of the cost increase, I downgraded from professional to personal and can live with the differences.
  19. I get the conflicting scratch pad quite frequently, but have always been able to select the one I want to keep and once I hit the keep button, it works. If you can’t delete the widget, I would suggest a reinstall.
  20. Not my intent at all and @Paul A. summed it up quite well. I value discussions that cover both views. I do though dislike the heavy-handed responses that I sometimes see here concerning feature requests. That was the main point of my post.
  21. Not really, I think it is a sound move. I understand there are Linux advocates out there, but what is the marketshare as compared to Windows and Mac? Wherever you look, it is small, real small. Plus there are numerous Linux distributions. Which one(s) do you support and test? I have some experience in this and it can be a nightmare. They do not all behave the same. In making decisions on where to place your limited development resources, this one makes sense, at least to me.
  22. Since you asked ... If you had stopped at the three points we would be in agreement, but then you added #4, "No need for Evernote to reinvent the wheel." Whether intended or not, to me, that is a pretty dismissive remark intended to shut down the request and its discussion. Even your opening paragraph was a justification on why you believe Evernote's time would be better spent elsewhere, which is your right, but it is a defense of the status quo. I often see ideas or requests shot down in these forums, sometimes quite aggressively, and I don't see why. It just stifles conversation and only heats up the discussion. What may not make sense to one person makes perfect sense to others. Our input here doesn't influence the development path of the app. If it did, they wouldn't be working on AI 😏.
  23. You can, but instead of a drop down menu it is more a hover over. Place your cursor a little to the right of the notebook name and the option should appear. I’m not a fan of this method and wish they went back to the original drop down menu.
  24. Unlike Legacy, the V10 toolbar cannot be currently customized. Maybe someday. I would find that useful as well.
