  1. You can create a note, make it a shortcut and by duplicating it make a copy for direct use. I found this easier than going through the own templates gallery. If you want a time stamp, use a tool like text expander.
  2. If you want a font from the serif font family, use the Serif Font. And that’s it, all you get. Looking at the low number of negative reactions, I think most users either don’t care or (like me) welcome the simplicity. If I want to go wild on fonts, I use other tools. A setting to adapt the Standard text style would be nice - but within the current options.
  3. There is no goal to „get at legacy level“. What would that be, anyhow ? The legacy clients were different from each other, the one lacking stuff the other had, and vice versa. v10 is a new app design, in it’s own right. If it supports your use cases, fine. If not, go watching for a better alternative. And stop the nostalgia, it’s childish. The world keeps spinning, and if EN would have remained on legacy, the world would already be spinning without an EN company.
  4. It is unique, but not for Synology only. You can run Docker on a number of devices, even on PCs or Macs. It is a nice way to put a job into a nutshell, and run it with minimum resources employed.
  5. And due to this fact, it does NO OCR, never. What's nice in one aspect is a bummer in another. P.S. The data protection rules of EN clearly say that no person will ever access a users data. Only bots will access the data, to run OCR, search index and similar tasks. Since EN has relocated to the EU, the fine for data protection violations can be steep, up to 10% of yearly sales. Ask Meta, they can tell you stories about it.
  6. EN data on the server is AES encrypted. During transfer it's protected by TLS/SSL, a safe encryption standard as well. A big plus ....
  7. Not sure about the effect (I’m iOS only), but the function can be toggled in the app settings, without uninstalling. Even if I want the extra layer of security (no idea why, the device as such is secured), I can at least try if it solves the issue temporarily.
  8. @humanengr On the Mac it’s right where it is on Windows as well. What is your version number ? On the older versions (maybe below 10.40 or so) it was located in Note Information.
  9. The option with the database path will only show with at least 10.59.5. Behind the 3 dots is the option to move the database to another location. On 10.58.8 it was not available.
  10. If you want to have extended sharing capabilities, you need to purchase the server version. Adds significantly to the price tag, plus you need to run a server infrastructure to benefit from it. As often, there is nothing like a free lunch - and one need to understand that DT is a self hosted application that has no "home base" on a cloud server operated by the apps developer. In this respect it is fundamentally different from EN, and requires additional skills and effort from the owner. It is not the "Sign in, subscribe and go easy" app like EN.
  11. In 10.59 the database location can be found (and altered) in the EN app settings, first tab, when you scroll down.
  12. Experts have a special role with EN, since some of them are offering consulting services as well (offering help on a professional level against a fee). The forum levels have nothing to do with the EN Expert status. None of us are employees and have inside knowledge. The experts will get additional briefings, to help them to help their clients. @agsteele can comment on this. The only forum users that may have inside knowledge have a "Staff" on their badges, are employees - and usually will rarely show up here in the forum to share their knowledge.
  13. There is a implicit limitation for the number of stacks: A stack needs a notebook inside - at least one (even if this makes no sense, but you need one notebook to create a stack). The number of notebooks in a Free account is 250, so the theoretical number of stacks is 250 as well. For practical use its much less. Stacks can‘t be nested. The question tells you want to organize mainly by notebooks and stacks. This is a long discussion - I always tell to discover organizing by tags. The big advantage of tags is that you can assign multiple tags at once to a note - but a note can only be in one single notebook at a time.
  14. The clown is yourself. You got advise how to improve the situation, instead you add proof that you simply have a corrupted local database. It‘s your decision not to solve it. You seem to be searching for proof that v10 must be bad - you shoot yourself into the foot. 🤡
  15. @AlbertR That’s easy to explain: Every note has a UID, that serves as unique address for it. Each note is like a small website, listed under its UID. Sharing works through the UID, linking works through the UID, and I think syncing does so as well. AFAIK the UID is maintained on the server.
  16. @Mark Dry You list 4 lines of text with a handful of features that you don’t use. From the list it looks to me you didn’t even explore if they could be useful, but whatever. You seem an expert in not using features of a software, that’s what thrills me. Now to my unresolved problem: I use Excel (a little OT), and from the 447 functions I only use 53, by my last count. These are very useful for me - but for 396 others, I have no use. Should I now go to the Microsoft forum and lament about what a bloated product they have made - including a terrible number of features for which I have no use at all, but surely pay for with my subscription ?
  17. The search for tags on desktop will only be kicked off by the beginning of a tag. A string taken from the middle will not trigger a list of possible tags to build. Why the same search on a mobile client will trigger from a string out of the middle, remains one of the unresolved mysteries of v10.
  18. This is a good question, that probably only support can answer. You could try note history - maybe there are older versions saved.
  19. Correct - support on all technical issues is a subscribers feature.
  20. You are jumping topics - no arguments on 1), OK, let's open 2). Not a sound strategy, but OK. I just tried to open notes, going down the list, 2023, 2021, 2019, and so on. Sizes were up to 165MB, holding attachments, web clips, regular content. The longest wait on the 165MB was below 10 seconds - on notes I am pretty sure I had not touched since RTE launched, so they needed conversion before displaying. The usual wait was between 1 and 3 seconds. Notes that had already been opened before usually open in an instant. This indicates for me: You have either not the latest client (10.59.5, 10.58.8 should do as well), or you have a corrupted local database, that is slowing everything down. To rebuild it from the server, you need to make a clean uninstall first. A clean uninstall is one that removes settings and data as well. To perform it, use an app like Revo Un installer (for Windows). Make sure all program parts are selected, then uninstall. Restart the PC, then download the latest version from the EN website, open, log in. It will draw an initial load of data (notes and metadata) from the server. Let the app running, because it will need time to download everything, including attachments, for offline use.
  21. We are here not talking about sharing from EN - we are talking about sharing from everywhere INTO EN. Sharing on a Mac is more or less what "Open with ..." is on Windows, just that the sharing dialogue has a dialogue box that allows to add some text to the new note before sending it into EN. At least that used to be the case, but it broke some weeks ago. Support had the usual bunch of ideas (update, uninstall, etc.), but up to today, I couldn't fix it. BTW it broke on 2 Macs, one powered by Intel, the other by Apple Silicon. The common denominator is the latest macOS, and a fully updated EN client, direct install. The workaround is to drop the file into an Import Folder. The difference is more clicks, and no option to add some text right before creating the new note. The box looks like this (the picture was selected, and a text entered) , and after clicking on OK, exactly nothing happens:
  22. If you are nervous, check on the web. It is the most direct view possible to see the state of your notes - old or recently created.
  23. There will be no dependency of first fixing here, meanwhile continue running legacy there. The stress of double syncing and double code base is obvious. I think it will be necessary soon to simplify the setup, by shedding the old data structures.
