  1. Every day there will be less and less Macs with a Touch Bar. I know of no software company that is still actively developing new features for it. Actually Apple killed it themselves. I have a MacBook Pro with TB. In the home office it is on a stand, and I use the monitor as my secondary screen. There is (and never was) no MagicKeyboard with a TouchBar ! So most of the time using it meant to lift my hand 20cm into the air, and reach out nearly half a meter. No surprise at home I never ever used the TB. On the road I enjoy it - but that’s less than 10% of my total use time. So if you ask me: Apple introduced a very useful feature, and at the same time made sure by not thinking about the typical use cases it would never take off.
  2. When EN does the OCR, a second pdf is created, holding the text layer. This pdf file is embedded into the note, invisible to the user. And it won't export. It only serves to support the full text search inside of EN. So basically what I get when I do the OCR myself before uploading is the same in effect - but I can always export my notes, and still have searchable documents, because they hold their own text layer.
  3. Did you ever try RTE sync ? It happens so fast, that your mouse pointer would still be traveling from the edit area to the sync button when the sync has already happened. A button was a sign of the old sync, where always a full note was synced, and note conflicts were a permanent risk. It simply makes no sense any more. If you want to refresh an open note, you can always hit cmd-R to make a Reload, or Shift-cmd-R for a Force Reload.
  4. This Photo.pdf does not have a text layer. I took it with the iPhone camera and printed the picture as a pdf. I have checked with PDF Expert that it only contains a graphics layer. The Macs Preview app however immediately identified the text as such, and allowed me to copy it right from the open file into the clipboard. The second pdf was OCRed and has a text layer. The text is editable with PDF Expert, so it exists as text inside of the pdf. To show the text, I have moved the text fields a little to the top and the right of the picture layer. 5. Since you say nothing about your Mac, it's hard to tell. First the percentage is the percentage of ONE CPU core, not of all computing power available. Second when I tried on my M1 MacMini, EN came from a low percentage, went up to 12% when the task was saved, and fell back after a few seconds, in steps that may be related to saving and syncing. Nothing out of the normal. If you have a different experience, open the activity monitor and EN on the same screen and make a screen recording. Then contact support.
  6. The count will update with progress of the download. When I loaded v10 for the first time, shortly after it became available in 2020 there was a gap between web and v10 on one side and legacy on the other. After trying different options, it showed that the much hyped legacy database had silently collected database errors over time. I got them fixed, using the advanced hidden tools from the help menu.
  7. What are the key figures of your internet connection ? Speed up/Down, Latency, Jitter, Package Loss ? If you don't know, the usual speed tests will tell (for example this https://www.speedtest.net ).
  8. The only way you can end up paying 30-40 bucks a month is when you buy subscriptions for more than yourself. And then you are a business, and have a different way of computing operational cost vs. operational efficiency.
  9. It’s wrong you need to sign to a subscription to use your data. But the exit is not very intuitive: The Free plan is behind the „Skip Trial“ text top right of the overlay box.
  10. You likely have a damaged local database. To me it looks as if you installed from the AppStore. You should first uninstall this version. Then purge the local database. It’s located here if you had installed from the AppStore: ~/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data The symbol at the beginning is you Mac user name. Then restart the Mac. Now download from the EN website - don’t use the AppStore version again. It is known to give headaches, due to the execution of the app in a sandbox. Install, log in. Working ?
  11. Is it not send, or not received ? Personally I use an authenticator app, but if I correctly recall it, there was an issue with country codes for the SMS.
  12. Can just tell sharing to EN from Safari is where it always was, and working. You are not on some sort of beta, by accident ?
  13. For me on iOS it seems it still updates the date on opening. Forget to use the updated date for anything meaningful is the best advise we can give.
  14. With RTE you can open and edit notes on several clients by several users (or just yourself) at the same time. Legacy is left behind in the dust with its clumsy sync. It’s not only the full Note approach - it will first sync to local, and then in the background to the server. This shields it somehow against getting into conflict with fast RTE sync. The main issue is that the server permanently needs to keep RTE and traditional databases on par. This will on the long term make any backend development pretty restricted.
  15. You can make the file size show as a column in the notes view panel. Right click on the header, select size. AFAIK you can’t sort by this column. But usually you can watch out for the biggies. The better option would be to get a second drive, and install the entire EN database there. You need to use a symlink to do this. There are descriptions in the forum, and about using symlinks in Google. An option to move the database by settings is under development.
  16. You don’t need to do the debugging yourself. The usual steps are: Open web clipper, log out of your account. Close it, open it again, log in. Uninstall web clipper, shut down the browser, reinstall. Contact support. Can‘t tell you more - I don’t use Chrome.
  17. Donating part of your operating income to charity does not make your business a charity. It just proves you want to give something back to society (or you have a good tax consultant). There is no „being a marketing vs. a software company“. If you don’t sell your product, you won’t succeed. If you don’t have a product to sell, neither.
  18. No, this function of reducing tag visibility based on a notebook selection has not made it into v10.
  19. @JoeTaxpayer We are just other users here (except those with a staff badge). So it’s observation and speculation. We have no news about the grandfathered plans been abandoned, so there is probably an option to continue. But it may be sort of cloaked - the Free option is behind a „Skip trial“ text working as a button. There will be a new price on the old plan as well. And the raise in percent will likely be steeper - because AFAIK all plans were raised by a similar total amount. But as a subscriber you can use support - to get a definite answer.
  20. The vast majority of EN users are in a Free plan, and I have no clue how many accounts are actively used. There must be plenty just opened to receive some shared notes, and others opened by accident, and never used again. I think if you only count active accounts, numbers are already much smaller, and smaller still when counting subscribers. Way to go …
  21. Depending on the abilities of your NAS, you can run the backup app in Docker. The Docker image is on GitHub, a little below the Homebrew description for the Mac.
  22. @AndyDent I always wonder how Windows legacy users ever survived - without tabs … Take it or leave it, in fact I don’t care. I know what works for me, and that’s described above.
  23. I doubt the question of syncing a few browser windows has anything to do with the number of notes. Only the notes open in any app are in active use. The rest sits somewhere on storage, dormant.
  24. You can open several notes, each in their own window - never a feature on legacy. Plus v10 has links AND backlinks - very useful for example when TOC notes are used.
  25. It used to be sort of dangerous with the old sync - could lead to note conflicts and duplication. I think with the new sync this risk should be removed.
