  1. Specifically, the notes near the end of this thread as of the 13th of June:
  2. I guess because it is part of the standard interface now that RTE exists, and the interface simply cannot tell how many people may be sharing a note, or whether a particular user habitually works alone or collaborates. Don't know if you're familiar with Car Talk, a hilarious radio call-in show with automotive advice by two brothers, Ray and Tom Magliozzi. One of their standard pieces of advice was if an indicator light on the dashboard was annoying you, put a piece of black tape over it. Probably even they wouldn't recommend that for a computer screen though.
  3. I haven't experienced anything like this. I only began using Evernote for Android v. 10 in January, when I finally got a new phone. The install with the then-current version went fine, and I've never seen a problem with the default notebook. This is an obvious question, but how much time did you give the new install to "settle in" or do its necessary downloading before working with it? The early problems could (I suppose, only that) be due to the app not having all its data downloaded. I wonder if the duplication of the notebook and wrong notebooks could be fixed by going into the app's data and deleting the cache, and then if that doesn't work the data, then restarting the phone. You'd probably have to log in again after that, and also wait a bit for things to download. Apologies if all this is so obvious that you've already done it.
  4. Interesting question! But the forum is basically user-to-user, and none of us would know about Evernote's upcoming development paths. Nor would Evernote be likely to spill those particular beans--they almost never remark on upcoming feature changes (except for the recent introduction of the flashy RTE-enabled sync structure and AI functions), and letting such info out would only encourage competitors to do it first. I don't need anything that big, but I know there are many who would love it. You could always try a support request (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) to get a definitive non-answer. 🙂
  5. I would suspect Electron, the framework in which Evernote runs and which governs interactions with the OS (in my feeble understanding of it). Perhaps Evernote issues some call that Electron is only able to interpret in one way.
  6. I don't think @scerwin's process sounds overly complex. A couple of installs, a couple of setups, and after that it just works, without extra clickage. Slightly complex setup leads to simple functioning, simple setup leads to slightly complex functioning: a classic tradeoff that will suit some one way, some the other.
  7. @Jay T Cold, are you actually experiencing those issues yourself? In your other post, you said you had guessed them from reading through other people's posts: So you're leaving Evernote and going through the pain of starting over with OneNote on the basis of what you guess other people are experiencing?
  8. Can I get in on this? I've not only reminded people not to double-post (standard behavior in every online forum), but gone so far as to suggest that they read through a thread before posting to it. Can't I get flamed in a blog post too?
  9. The thing is, as I understand it, that "RTE" is simply a kind of operation that can now be performed on notes having the new sync structure. It is the conversion of notes to that structure that seems to be partly responsible for the problems, especially load delay. To try to limit the structural conversion to a certain subset of users (paying users who opt in) sounds to me like a recipe for chaos on the server end.
  10. Please be aware that these are primarily user-to-user forums. The people you're addressing here are not able to fix things, only discuss and offer advice. However, Evernote's product lead has a thread going in which he promises fixes to the missing content and other issues:
  11. Just on this point, I assume that is related to the screenshot in your initial post. That must be from iTunes, which would be an issue for Apple. Evernote's own plan comparison page (https://evernote.com/compare-plans) has only Free, Personal, and Professional.
  12. This TF: V. 10 now supports real-time editing, based on the new sync structure rolled out in early May (which has been causing a number of problems that are being addressed, and which Legacy does not support). RTE makes it possible for a note to be edited on more than one device at a time, and therefore by more than one user. "Only you" lets you know who is currently editing the note. If you collaborate with others, this will probably prove helpful. Even working alone, I was impressed one time when my computer crashed mid-edit, and when I opened another device (a laptop), there was the note in precisely the state I was editing it in.
  13. I think I'm the one who originally asked, out of curiosity, about the ongoing need for Legacy, so thanks. Hope you're able to develop a solution if Legacy goes away.
  14. Since you've got over 50 posts in these forums, you must know that they are mainly user to user. You are not venting/ranting or whatever at Evernote, only other users who cannot fix any problems, are not getting any money from you, and may or may not agree with your decisions. Anyway, I get that the new version (for whatever necessary reasons there may be in its construction) doesn't work to get material out of emails as you were used to doing in Legacy. As @PinkElephant points out, it (like Legacy, I think) offers two much easier ways: forward the email to Evernote (if you have a paid subscription), or clip it with the Web clipper if using a browser to look at the email. We all developed workflows to use with Legacy, and it took some time to do so. Moving to v. 10 causes some new development of workflows, but workflows always have to evolve.
  15. I'm not leaving, but I wonder if those who do need to move to a different service could drop back to a free Evernote account, and then take their time moving notes elsewhere without feeling pressured by the price rise.
  16. I imagine in a week or so someone with the same problem will search the forums and find this. You have performed a service.
  17. I disagree. There are lots of things that seem "obvious" for different users of Evernote that it can't do. It can't scan docs to PDF; it can't run formulas in spreadsheets; it doesn't offer equation-building facilities; it doesn't colorize computer code.... You and I would like it to scan PDFs. People who want it to do more with code or spreadsheets may think we're nuts. But Evernote's developers have always had to draw lines between what the app will and won't do, especially when there are existing programs that do it better than Evernote could be expected to. E.g., how many languages should Evernote's PDF scanner handle? English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, obviously. But what about Farsi, Hindi, Swahili? Oops, I left out Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Polish, Czech, Greek, and Hebrew. I can't imagine that it could be trivial to work up a PDF conversion module of Evernote (not a separate app!) that would handle all the languages Evernote's users speak and need. Existing apps do this job, and Evernote stores the results and makes them searchable. That's what we get, and (given everything that Evernote does do), IMHO it's not bad.
  18. Really? The camera gets pics into Evernote, including images of documents, but doesn't convert them to PDF. Or have I totally missed something? @scerwin, AFAIK you have to use another app to do the scan, then you can attach the PDF to Evernote. Evernote OCRs text within images (and PDFs and other attachments), and the text becomes searchable (if you're on a paid subscription), but prefers to let you create your attachments (other than images) elsewhere. I agree it would be very cool if EN did this.
  19. In the blog post giving information and rationalization for the new prices, along with information about new features, including AI, the prices and features were not explicitly connected. It's worth reading, or reading again, to get a sense of their explanation, whether you prefer it to your own or not. https://evernote.com/blog/evernote-pricing-upcoming-features-update/
  20. @Guy Bjerke, see my post with a link just before yours.
  21. At least 2 threads in the Windows desktop feature request forum:
  22. They're swamped, they're prioritizing, squeaky wheel gets the grease ... not a unique situation in our times, or in human history. Just my perspective; but if it were happening to me I might feel differently.
  23. It's not super-convenient, but this is how v. 10 includes all the formatting capabilities of the desktop and Web apps, which were not available in the older version (v. 8, I think). I got a new phone earlier this year, and finally was able to install v. 10. It took a minute to find where things are, but it was worth the time poking around in it. BTW, on the "front page" of the formatting tools, with the + button to insert things, the Aa, B I U, etc., if you scroll the B I U area to the right you'll find the buttons to increase/decrease indentation of paragraphs.
