  1. ... And then hire a team of Windows developers, a team of Mac developers, a team of Android developers, a team of Web developers, and probably more support staff since problems on one platform will not be solved by solutions used for another, and watch the versions diverge in UX, and then fall behind the changes in the OSes.... And can any app in any OS that does what Evernote does be simple?
  2. Perhaps yet other bug in v. 10.59.5. Search the forums for that and you'll find lots of threads on search issues and other topics.
  3. Sorry for a little thread drift, but yesterday I had issues with input using an alternative keyboard, Smart Keyboard Pro, which I use mainly because of its large selection of non-English keyboards, and its customizability. I was actually using Google speech-to-text to do input, accessed through a microphone-labeled key in SKP. I read several paragraphs into a note and closed the note with the green check mark. But when I looked at the note in Windows, the text was not there, and checking back in Android it was also gone. Not being that bright, I did the same thing a couple more times, with the same result. Evidently the alternate-input text was not being properly "received" into the note so that it could sync. I did it again, just a paragraph at a time, and always selecting and copying the paragraphs into the Android clipboard. Eventually I was able to get everything into the note, but it involved some pasting. I also input some Hebrew text from SKP into the note, and this also did not seem to be properly "received." Pasting Hebrew text in worked just fine, I just couldn't type it reliably. So it seems that Evernote does not play well with anything but stock keyboards ... anymore, that is. I've done this kind of thing with previous versions of the Android app without difficulty. Currently I have v. 10.52.1 build 1207729.
  4. Ah ha! I do indeed have 10.59.5 of the Web client, and indeed I experience some of the reported issues: searching in a notebook is denied with the pop-up message: "Permissions lost..." sometimes global search in all notes returns the full note list. scrolling to the bottom of a long results list (> 128 notes) jumps back to the top of the list. Ergo, I'll have to be careful using the Web client, and I will rigorously guard against any installations of the 10.59.5 Windows app. Thanks!
  5. Where was that located? In C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\evernote-client-updater\pending? That's where I found, and exterminated, the 10.59.5 installer. I don't have the 10.58.8 installer, but the next time there's a well functioning version I'm going to keep its installer handy.
  6. Hmm, my experience is like that of @Grant837. Yesterday I finally got a notice that an update from 10.58 was awaiting, and inviting me to click and install it. Heh heh heh. After reading all the problems here, I didn't. Later I found a folder called C:\Users\{myusername}\AppData\Local\evernote-client-updater\pending, where the 10.59.5 updater was lurking, along with an associated .json file. I deleted them, but I expect they'll be back, so I'll monitor that folder. I do feel more secure, though.
  7. Hi, and welcome to the forums. This issue has been reported by a number of Android users in the Android forum: Do you have a passcode enabled to access Evernote? That has also been causing issues in Android, where the feature has had to be temporarily disabled while they fix the problem: We are mostly other users here, and this type of issue really needs to be reported to Evernote's technical support so they can be aware of it and address it: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  8. My Windows Evernote app tells me there's a new version waiting to install, but I'm not going to let it till v. 10.60 is out. Poking around, I found a folder called C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\evernote-client-updater\pending, in which the 10.59.5 installer was lurking, along with an associated .json file. I deleted them, but I assume they will come back at some point. Somebody may already have given this info, but is there any chance the 10.58 installer is still around on my machine? If so, where? In case I do accidentally install 10.59, and in case (not being @gazumped) I do have problems with it.
  9. I haven't experienced this (much) myself, but I agree. I have had such things happen a few times, even on a pretty decent connection, and it's aggravating to say the least. Forcing a sync (the topic of this thread) wouldn't help this, IMHO, since it would be the same data structure syncing over the same system. What it would do, though, would be to force the user to wait till the sync completed before editing any further, and that might prevent some of the data corruption. Another option, which has been mentioned by others, is simply to go offline when in a poor connectivity area, and not go back online until you are in a strong connectivity place, when sync should hopefully work without issues. But that is not always possible either.
  10. ... And you can subscribe for one month, then drop back to Free, which hopefully might amount to "something reasonable."
  11. Since this is specific to Android, it might be best to post it in the Android forum: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/718-evernote-for-android-issues-versions-100-and-above/. You may also find that others have reported similar issues.
  12. It might be best to contact Evernote's technical support about this. It sounds like you've already tried what your fellow users here would be likely to suggest. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  13. Likewise the difficulty of changing the date created seems related to its intended use. I'll have to admit that I would have thought of Evernote socks before I would have thought of changing the note creation date in order to have it serve some other purpose. Maybe I am better at accepting things as they are than I thought!
  14. I got the flashing menu yesterday for the first time, and I found that quitting and restarting fixed it. I don't think I cleared the cache, but I may have.
  15. "It's been almost a year...." Yes. And things have changed. Since you've got a new installation, you've got the latest version of the Evernote app, and as @agsteele said, a couple of months ago Evernote introduced a new data structure that is constantly being synced to the Evernote servers. To test this, open a note in the Windows app and in another Evernote client simultaneously, such as the Web client in a browser (https://www.evernote.com/client/web). Edit the note in one and watch the edits appear in the other. In most cases, it would take longer to click a sync button than for the sync itself to happen. If you still want that sense of command, Ctrl+R will reload Evernote, and sync it in the process. This was mentioned in the 3rd post in this thread.
  16. Welcome to the forums, @faima_choudary. As @Mike P says, requests like this have been made numerous times (take a look at the Windows app feature requests forum: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/731-evernote-for-windows-requests-versions-100-and-above/). Often the use case is similar to yours, to make the note's date created correspond to the creation date of an attachment. Personally, I like the date created to stick to its intended use, and I'm not sure Evernote is likely to modify this field in order to make it do something outside its intentions. Perhaps they should add an additional metadata field alongside date created and date updated, such as "date of content", and make that a searchable and sortable field. Clearly many people would find it useful.
  17. Once again, this forum is populated by other users (almost all of whom are humans 🙂). It's not a way of addressing Evernote directly. For that, go to https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new (also humans). I didn't know there was an SMS contact for Evernote.
  18. Welcome to the forums. With respect, if there are 0 notes, not even headers but no notes at all, and 0 in trash, then the likelihood is that you did accidentally create a new, empty account, which is very easy to do by simply logging in with a different email address. If you're absolutely sure you're using the right credentials, then you need to contact Evernote support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  19. The "lost permissions / no access" error has been reported for v. 10.59.5 by other users as well. If possible, you should report this to Evernote's support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  20. The "permissions lost" issue is one of a number that have been reported with v. 10.59:
  21. This has long been a feature of the updates, as they are rolled out gradually, not to all users at once. But be cautious about jumping to v. 10.59. In this and the following posts in a long thread, there are indications of quite a few problems with it?:
  22. And, just to make a point that should be obvious but may not be, some of us continued using Legacy for a year or more as v. 10 slowly progressed, and then finally found it to meet our needs and are not looking back. The "improvements" are actual improvements for us. This is not to say that features and ways of working in Legacy are not superior for some people's needs, only that working with v. 10 is a better than acceptable option for others. There's no need for either group to consider the other unreasonable.
  23. I just want to thank folks for the reports on the problems with v. 10.59.5. My laptop does not yet offer to update to it from 10.58.8, and I will refuse it if it ever does.
