  1. Excellent news! Will this version also fix the flashing menu bug?
  2. I'm feeling really obtuse here, because others seem to be following you, whether they can reproduce the bug or not ... but what is the "note menu in the top menu bar"? Do you mean the ... at top right of the displayed note? Or something called "note" that I'm not seeing?
  3. What version are you on? If you choose not to update to a newer version, of course, that's fine, your choice. But if you want to select more notes, you need a newer version.
  4. These are basically user-to-user forums, not a way that Evernote uses to collect requests. For that, contact support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
  5. @HeBoIz, what a great tip! Thanks, I've sometimes wanted that myself.
  6. This really is becoming a food fight. And not with very appealing food, either. My thoughts: local notebooks became important for some people's ways of using Evernote, and are gone in v. 10, apparently never to return. Same for some other features of v. 6 and earlier. OTOH, v. 10 can do things that v. 6 never could, such as provide a uniform appearance for notes across all platforms, and a correspondingly similar interface. It has the Home page, it has real time editing, it has tasks.... Some people need these more than local notebooks, etc., some people need them less. Some people, TBH, are more ready or more able to adapt their workflows and habits than others. While we may have our opinions about these needs and tendencies, there's really nothing to gain from casting aspersions. Legacy is all that it ever was and is ever going to be, and will remain so until it ceases to be. Best to make a plan B before that happens, and obviously many people are doing so. V. 10 has about all the features from Legacy that it's likely to get, though it's probably not done adding new features. If the new editing and syncing features become really stable and robust, if the new AI cleanup becomes something worth using and doesn't steal your stuff, v. 10 will be a fine piece of work and a fine tool to work with--for me, in my opinion. Is there more to say? Oh surely there must be, though whether it needs saying may be another question. Sigh. I'll find a different thread to haunt. PS. V. 10's current ghastly bug-fest, which render v. 10.59.5 of the desktop and Web apps difficult to use at best, and v. 10.52.1 of Android virtually unusable in some situations, has nothing to do with whether v. 10 as such is better than v. 6 as such. It does say something about whether BenSpoo is really capable of managing and developing this software, and at the moment that is what is giving me something of the heebie-jeebies. (Was heisst das auf Deutsch?)
  7. Generally, software developers avoid publishing target dates for bug fixes or app updates. This is because unexpected stuff can happen and delay the release date, and then the already unhappy campers get really unhappy because it feels like a broken promise. So, in the dark we are (in our unhappy camp). Honestly (and I say this as someone what has repeatedly been called an Evernote fanboy for not agreeing with every negative opinion that's posted around here), at this point IMHO the most unexpected stuff that could happen would be that they'd release an update with all existing bugs fixed and no new ones created.
  8. There's another thread in this forum where users have developed several functional workarounds:
  9. Thanks, @AlbertR, for your detailed research! Not having a Teams account, I'll just try to avoid using the 10.59.5 Web client. Yeeks.
  10. Not long after I cleared the 10.59.5 installer out of C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\evernote-client-updater\pending\, Evernote downloaded a file there called temp-Evernote-10.59.5-win-ddl-stage-5236-9c2e448cbf0a50ab27a2635aa27a36eea1db877a-setup.exe. I cannot delete that file: it demands that I provide administrator permission to do so, so I click Continue, get a UAC dialogue, allow the change, and then get another popup that says I need permission from the computer's administrator to make changes to the file. The options are Try Again and Cancel, and Try Again just sends me back to this same popup. I am the administrator, only user, and sole resident of this computer, I'm logged in as such, so I have no idea how I'll ever get rid of this thing. But at the same time, Evernote happily believes that v. 10.58.8 is the newest version available. I am puzzled but apparently stable. EDIT: As I was writing that, apparently after I checked for updates and was told 10.58.8 was the latest, EN did download another installer (Evernote-10.59.5-win-ddl-stage-5236-9c2e448cbf0a50ab27a2635aa27a36eea1db877a-setup). That and its .json file could be deleted, but still not the temp-... version of the same thing.
  11. Hi, and welcome to the forums. These are basically user-to-user, so it's not likely that Evernote is reading. You can contact support here: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. The billing page in the online account settings has a link at the bottom to cancel: https://www.evernote.com/BillyBillingProfile.action. Can't promise how well it works....
  12. Hi, and welcome to the forums. These are basically user-to-user forums, not staffed on a regular basis by Evernote employees. They're the only ones who could tell you that. You can contact them here if you have a paid subscription: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. But if past experience with software developers of all kinds is any guide, the most you are likely to get is something like "we're working on this very diligently, and hope to have a solution soon." IOW, programmers don't promise release dates publicly, since things can go wrong in the meantime.
  13. We're in the Android forum here, and I don't think (I could be wrong) that the Android app is anywhere near up to 10.59 yet. What operating system are you working in? V. 10.59.5 seems to be causing all kinds of problems, but I haven't heard of that one yet.
  14. Sorry to make myself redundant ... wait, that's not right ... anyway, as I noted above I was able to edit the Switch to shortcut to something other than Ctrl+Q, and when it no longer conflicts with the Justify shortcut it can be invoked while editing a note as well. @laurence.glazier, I don't have a "What's New" section anymore in my keyboard shortcuts dialog (Ctrl+/), just searching at the top for Switch gets me to the Switch to entry, which is editable.
  15. Dude, what? You're the one handing out insults. But forgive me, I have an opinion and it is not yours. I'll be careful never to post on any of your threads again.
  16. In the main Notes list, you can click the icon at the top with the downward arrow to change the sorting. Select Date created. Do that again if you want it to sort ascending (with the oldest at the top). Then it's just bulldozing: select up to 100 notes at a time and hit delete; repeat until satisfied. Empty the trash. Don't know if that's "easy"; it would depend on how many notes you have.
  17. @allendick, you say that another user, the Rosy Pachyderm, puts an end to conversation. But what is this? Painting yourself and your fellow Legacy enthusiasts as the serious users of Evernote, and those of us who find v. 10 preferable as mere hobbyists--it's insulting and unfair. I've read enough of your posts to know that you can do better than this. Humbly asking you please to do so.
  18. I've highlighted the relevant information in the quote. How are you getting Web client v. 5.33?? Mine has updated to 10.59.5, and has the same issues as are reported for the Windows client v. 10.59.5.
  19. One of the very first rules I set for myself when I began using PCs back in the 80s was "Never sit and watch the machine working." Do something, useful or not, rather than sit there like a dog waiting for a piece of chicken to fall off the table.
  20. Please search the forums. There are existing threads discussing this, including downgrading to a previous release.
  21. @laurence.glazier, that's my experience too. Assigning the same keyboard shortcut to two different functions in two different contexts seems mind-bogglingly ... can't think of a polite way to put it. And why on earth use Ctrl+Q for justify? However, I did find that the "Switch to" function can be reassigned. I've put it on Ctrl+S, and then it does work while editing a note.
  22. Thinking about this again, I realized that I should extend something of an olive branch here. Your transition from v. 7 to v. 10 was abrupt and involuntary. My experience was quite different. I avoided v. 10 for a year or more, at a time when it really was feature-poor and struggling, and I stuck with the Windows program v. 6. As v. 10 got better, I started using the Web version of it, and gradually got used to what it could do and how it worked. I found that there were increasing numbers of things I preferred to do in v. 10, and at some particular point it felt right to just install the Windows app and start using it, since I was well accustomed to it in the Web client (because it had been revamped to be a consistent experience across platforms). I've mostly found it to meet my particular needs, and I'm not looking back. So my gradual and well-considered introduction and then transfer to v. 10 can't really be compared with the unpleasant experience of having the rug pulled out from under you due to an OS upgrade. This I concede, and I can understand your aggravation. What I can't accept is yelling, interpreting interface changes as crippling, and making the completely unsupportable accusation that the 50-note selection limit (which many people have found very irritating) was an intentional ploy to make it hard to leave. IAC, I do hope that Apple Notes is proving to be all that you need it to be.
  23. NOT a fact. You're flat-out wrong. I just verified both the version (by running "Check for updates") and the export limitation (by performing a selection). The latest version of Evernote for Mac is version 10.59.5—and in THAT version, the export limitation is 50 notes—as shown in my original screenshot. Where do you think I got that screenshot? Furthermore, even if the new limit were 100, my assessment stands: There's NO technical reason to limit export at all—except to deter users from leaving Evernote. I have no idea what goes on in the Mac version, but my screenshot is below. This is in the Web client on a Windows machine, which I think (but I could be wrong) should also be available on Macs. As for your technical assessment of software you have not programmed, I pass that by; but if your conspiracy theory were true, why did they raise the limit from 50 to 100 notes? I never said "zero"! So, you're putting words in my mouth. But perhaps you mean they haven't fixed all of the bugs that bother you the most. That's still not the same as "NEVER fixing bugs." Much (not all) of your list, like other such lists that have been posted here, has to do with the redesign of the interface, stuff put one place rather than another or replaced with icons. All that was done on purpose, and is not going to be considered a bug or a lost feature by Evernote's designers. I'll quote two from the end of your list, though they may not be representative. From the Evernote Help & Learning article on Mac keyboard shortcuts: Simplify Formatting ⇧ Space Search Notes ⌥ ⌘ F Interfaces change. None of us was born into Evernote v. 6 for Mac. We had to learn the old Evernote interface(s), and change our workflows in the process, and we've had to learn the new one. I cry mightily, MEH! If Apple has not done an interface redesign for any app in the last 5 or 10 years (and I truly have no idea), I'll be highly impressed with them. Evernote did a complete remake in order to have a consistent appearance and experience over all platforms. Opinions vary about whether that was a good idea, but most seem to think it was; and at any rate, it's the reality. Again, if you're only using Apple devices, this may not be significant for you, but it is for many others, which was the one and only point of my mentioning that I need it to work on Android. Not having identical needs was exactly my point. If Evernote made its program work better for me (and others) and worse for you (and others), that's hardly proof that they're ignoring their users and crippling the software to keep people from leaving. First you said "us," now you say it's just you. I responded to the first. In response to the second, Evernote has changed but it has been "crippled" only in some users' experience -- as you now acknowledge! -- and certainly it has not been crippled on purpose to keep you chained to it. If Evernote were the despicable, cynical entity you fantasize them to be, they might well have blocked your post. But they didn't. They might very well have sued you for libel, since you baselessly accuse them of intentionally crippling the software to make it hard to leave. But they're not. And past this I do not care. Despite appearances to the contrary, I really don't have time for this. To return to my original observation, I have seen dozens of self-important, over-the-top declarations that Evernote has been irretrievably mangled and the aggrieved user is departing for something that works better. I have never once seen a plausible rationalization for why these folks think anyone here -- all just fellow users, mind you, not Evernote's owners who might be heartbroken at your departure -- gives a hog's hangnail what software they use. If you want to tell Evernote off, here's their number: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. Most of us come here to report problems we're having or offer suggestions to others who are having problems. We do not care to judge, on a scale of 1 to 10, whether Evernote is evil or our fellow users just hate change.
  24. Evernote 10 does of course have a beta program. Some of the folks here are in it I believe. What I don't understand is how such a mess as v. 10.59.5 seems to be got out of beta.
  25. I've been on these forums for awhile, but I've never before encountered a post so loud, so full of misinformation, and so determined to present opinion as fact. But I'm sure you'll insist on being responded to politely and respectfully. So a few polite responses: A fact: for many months now, Evernote 10 has been able to select 100 notes at a time. If you're stopping at 50, that's on you. A fact: bugs are being addressed more quickly in v. 10 than they were in v. 6. Maybe not the bugs you want, but not zero either. A fact: Evernote 10 can do things that Legacy can't. An opinion: Evernote 10 works better for me and is more enjoyable than v. 6 was. There are a couple of things I miss from v. 6, a wider choice of fonts and colors for instance, but it's worth that particular sacrifice to have notes appear with the same fonts, colors, etc., on all devices. A question: Speaking of devices, does Apple Notes have an Android app? If not, I couldn't use it, probably most of us here could not use it. But if you never need to access your notes outside the Apple-verse, then it sounds like it's what you need. Maybe it's all you ever needed.
