  1. Yes, v. 10.53.1 is supposed to be an improvement for such issues. I haven't seen it in the Play store yet, but Evernote has released it there, and people in some regions have received it. Just yesterday I had a problem where two different notes simply refused to retain added text at a specific point in each note. I would type it in (just a word or two), save, and reopen the note a few seconds later to find the added text missing. Always the same words in the same spot. I finally edited these notes in the desktop app (the Web client would probably have worked too), and the edits showed up in the Android app. Really looking forward to the update.
  2. Hi, and welcome to the forums. There are some threads already about client debug mode. Evernote has just released version 10.53.1 to Google Play, and I believe it should fix this problem. I have not yet seen it on Google Play myself (the timing seems to be up to Google), please keep a watch for it.
  3. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I'm not sure what you mean by the GET STARTED widget. Is there not an Evernote icon in your app drawer or on a Home screen that you can tap? (Also not sure why you can't remove a widget without paying, but that's a different question.) In any case, a new version of the app, supposed to be much improved esp. WRT crashes, has been released to Google Play. It's v. 10.53.1. Watch for it to appear in the Play Store (I haven't actually seen it on my phone yet), and install it when it arrives. Hopefully that will help.
  4. Just curious if this is still happening. I have yet to see it (and would not want to).
  5. My sentiments exactly. It's like I woke up one day and thought, "why am I paying a premium subscription for a janky app that requires me to treat it like fragile china?" You're responding to a post from before the new sync structure was implemented in May. Not that that implementation didn't have problems, but they're unrelated to the issues discussed previously in this thread. The newest version, 10.60.4, has resolved some issues, as did their work to beef up the back end a couple of months ago. Are you still experiencing note conflicts (the subject of this thread)? If so, under what circumstances?
  6. If you're not logged in to a paid Evernote account, then your support options will indeed be limited. But the link (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) does work and there are (limited) options available if you enter as a guest.
  7. If you updated last week, that was v. 10.52.2, which did indeed remove the passcode lock because of a bug. 10.53 restores it, as I understand. But I think they're a little bit at the mercy of Google for when things show up in the Play Store and in which locations. I'm not seeing it yet either (in the southern U.S.), but I keep checking.
  8. This doesn't seem to be a universal experience. I have Evernote 10 on a mid-range Windows 10 laptop, and have PDFs set to display as title only by default. When I click on one and then click on the menu and select All pages, they load at once, including one that is 41 pages with lots of graphics. So what you're seeing may not be due to Evernote 10 as such. Perhaps the installation is slightly corrupted, perhaps there is some odd interplay between Evernote and Windows. In Settings, there's one called "Keep a copy on this device" or the like. Unselect that, quit Evernote (File > Quit), and your local database will be deleted. Restart Evernote, re-check the Keep option, quit and restart Evernote again, and a fresh copy will be downloaded. (I think that's the process; not sure about quitting both times, but I think that's how it works.) Could be worth the effort just to see if it gets the function working faster.
  9. Hmm. I find that Shift+Enter works to create a new line at the end of a line with text in it, but not after a blank line, that is, after an existing new line. More interestingly, in bulleted and numbered lists it creates un-bulleted and un-numbered lines (any number of them, apparently), and plain Enter after these lines resumes the bulleting/numbering in sequence. Didn't know that! @Donovon, what are you trying to do with Shift+Enter? If it's not working in lists, and you've already tried quitting the program entirely (File > Quit) and restarting the computer, you could go all the way and uninstall Evernote (people recommend Revo Uninstaller to do a thorough job) and reinstall it. Beyond that, you may need to contact support.
  10. Took a look at their Website, including their Evernote comparison page, where they emphasize that, supposedly unlike Evernote, Notejoy is built for collaboration. Since I work alone, it doesn't sound like it would suit me. As for pricing: $4/month is the spot that Evernote doesn't have, and which relatively light users often request. $8/month for Plus = $96/year, $36 less than Evernote's current Personal, and $12/month Premium = $144/year, $26 less than Evernote's Professional. The price differences are noticeable, but not overwhelming, IMHO.
  11. From https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005867:
  12. I actually did exactly that when planning a complex trip out of the country last month. I had to plan for a conference where I was delivering a paper, keep track of flights and hotels, work out sightseeing plans for after the conference, set up packing for a different climate.... It worked well to have a head note with links to other detailed notes with checklists, some of which linked to other subsidiary notes. With the backlinks, I found it easy enough and fast enough. FWIW, which of course may not be much for your purposes, @Nomis44.
  13. I'm not sure exactly what you're seeing, but in my experience having an image show up in snippet or card view long after it has been deleted from a note (for instance) was happening all the way back in Evernote 6.
  14. @Matt-W, a recent post from @Federico Simionato suggests they are indeed diligently seeking solutions for the data-loss issues:
  15. Not for me yet. I'll keep looking a couple times/day. Glad to hear the menu scrolling is fixed.
  16. I'm finding this topic mysterious. I run Evernote Web in the MS Edge browser on my personal Windows 10 laptop. I just logged out of it and back in, and all I had to do was put in my credentials. No Captcha. Are others seeing this consistently? Is it happening on work computers (i.e., Captcha instituted by IT admins)?
  17. Since you've reinstalled, I assume you're on the latest version, 10.60.4. See this request from @Federico Simionato for users suffering data loss to report it:
  18. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Best practice is to read a bit first, then post if necessary. As stated in a number of posts here in the past week: (quoting from this post specifically). By this time, v. 10.59.5 may be auto-updating.
  19. Assuming you're taken the advice given earlier to remove one of your 3 devices (laptop, Web client, Android phone), and have tried uninstalling Evernote from the phone, restarting, and re-installing, you may need to contact support on this. If you do, refer them to this thread, so they know that it's happening to multiple users. That would mean re-subscribing for just one month, getting it fixed, then dropping back to free. Repeated accusations of manipulation by Evernote don't really help.
  20. Don't know if I'm one of "them" or not, but on the off chance: this is borderline censorship. Anyone offering an opinion differing from the author should be shouted down or ignored. Then throw in baseless conspiracy suspicions about "their" motives. DevonThink works great for you, fine. It's like Evernote used to be, I'll take your word for it. But this kind of casting aspersions on others is out of place here. In my opinion, of course, which may also be ruled out of bounds.
  21. First of all, @Duhtch, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues! It's good to know you've gotten some effective treatment, and perfectly understandable that this could leave you in a place where you need to stick with what's familiar. I appreciate your positive spirit. I'm in the process of going through a group of notes that I created for a specific, temporary purpose, and either archiving them for later reference, deleting them, or keeping them as is for other uses. They all have the same tag, and in the case of the deleted/trashed and archived notes I am removing that tag from all or most of them. I do this process by having the list of notes that have the tag open, and working down it. I find that when I remove a tag from one of the notes, it drops off the list in a couple of seconds, but remains open while I work on it, for instance to move it to trash or archive. This seems to correspond to @Mike P's "normal" experience. So far I haven't encountered the inconsistency, but I'm keeping alert for it. And I'm not changing tags, only removing a tag, which might behave differently (though it shouldn't).
  22. You know, it's really interesting how people who express positive opinions of how Evernote works (while also acknowledging problems) get called fanboys and evangelists, while people who come here to evangelize for other software, refusing to acknowledge any of its limitations, are somehow supposed to be considered benefactors of humanity. But it is interesting that @Zawen and @PinkElephant agree on one thing: Mac is the only rational choice of operating systems. Fanboys! 😜
  23. Glad you got it sorted out. Agreed, that is a weird procedure, but at least it worked. If you haven't updated to v. 10.60.4 in the desktop app yet, it would be good to do so. The problems of v. 10.59.5 seem to be pretty much solved in this update. If the app itself isn't offering it yet, you can download directly from https://evernote.com/download.
  24. A very good question. I did a search for "software disappearing from windows computer" and found pages with some suggestions, e.g. relating to Windows updates. None of them involved the software deleting itself, though!
  25. But I wonder if you would make this public pronouncement in the vitriolic terms of the original post in this thread. That's the bit that I don't get. Where does the sense of being personally wronged by changes in software or its pricing come from? -- Not really trying to have a debate; it's more a rhetorical musing.
