All this imagining other people's lives.... As if I would suppose/assume/bet that someone is an entitled, precious individual who feels they have the right to stamp their foot and cry whenever something doesn't go their way. And of course complain about other people's attitudes. But of course I'm not doing that.

... or just not release any more broken updates.

Can't edit notes that are too large? "view only".
Dave-in-Decatur replied to nightjar's topic in Evernote General Discussions
It's the 21st century. No one complains louder than someone whose free lunch doesn't have enough salt. -
Here's what I don't understand in this thread (well, one of many): it's been made abundantly clear that neither @PinkElephant nor anybody else who doesn't have a "Staff" badge on their profile here works for Evernote. Why keep saying "your company"? 2 devices, one of which is the Web client, is a very tight limit. It used to be looser, but free users were kind of bleeding the company, so they tightened it up. They could have taken another direction, such as sticking ads into your notes or selling your personal information, or just dropping the free service altogether. But they didn't. And they still make it possible to sign up for one month for less than $11, which would give time to get all the unwanted devices off the account and get it touch with support to address the aspects of that that aren't working right. Ack. All this kvetching makes me hungry. I'm going down to the diner where they let me eat for free. I'll probably gripe to the paying customers about how dry the bread is.

Proxy ports V. 6.25 (Legacy) versus V. 10
Dave-in-Decatur replied to @ruygiraldes's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Begging your pardon, but I just looked at a note in the Web version, v. 10.60.4, and viewed several complete PDFs in it, including one that was 41 pages long. -

One thought: so don't do that. Another thought: if you're planning to drop back from a paid plan to free, do all this manipulating of humungous notes before you drop back. -

More unsourced, unconfirmable, and irrelevant-to-the-point online detritus. Search "Evernote death spiral" and look for all the 5-year-old posts. Editing a note knowing changes wouldn't be synced is reasonable? IAC, it now works the way it now works. Ways to operate within the current parameters are all through this thread. But apparently cursing the darkness really is more fun. -
While using Evernote, the situation is as @PinkElephant says. However, if something happens to close down Evernote and reopen it, such as the computer rebooting to finish a Windows update, then Evernote will install the update when it restarts. That, I believe, is how I ended up with the accursed v. 10.59.5. BTW, if you try to close that little "there's an update waiting" window in the left panel with its X and miss by just a little bit, you'll hit the Install button (another way I got 10.59.5, after rolling back to 10.58.8). I prefer to install updates when they appear, unless I've read some bad news here, but it would be better if they did not install automatically when the program restarts, despite the user's preference.

I'm on v. 10.60.4, and I do find that the Note menu is generally active with a single note selected. However, I just tried it now, and when I selected the 4th note in the Notes list the menu was grayed out. When I selected the 1st note, the menu worked, and as I worked my way down the list, including the one where it had been grayed out a few seconds before, it continued to work. Now I can't get it to fail. 🤪

Rolling out Evernote desktop 10.60.4
Dave-in-Decatur replied to Federico Simionato's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Hi, @Janessa, and welcome to the forums. There have been other reports of content disappearing or being moved around, though they seem fairly isolated. I've had it happen to me, but not since the early days of the new sync structure back in May and June. My understanding is that Evernote is always syncing to its servers, and my speculation is that disruptions to the connection process at any point between your device and the server (with lots of hops along the way) can cause problems like this. I think Evernote is working to find ways to keep the note corruptions from happening. I could certainly be wrong, but for the sake of discussion, when did this start, is it happening on all notes you edit, and how solid is your Internet connection at those times? Also, there are other threads in the forums that may relate to this. See this one, in particular some posts near the end that relate to the current version 10.60.4: -
Global shortcuts enable / disable switch

And, just to be clear, none of the people you're talking with here work for Evernote, so none of can do it, even if it were that easy. Evernote support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. -
Specifically, in the Android forum: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/718-evernote-for-android-issues-versions-100-and-above/.

Please be aware that these are basically use-to-user forums. To address the developers, you'd need to use a support ticket: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. If you want to apply a template to new, blank note, the procedure is as explained by others. If you want to apply it to a note that already has content ... I'm not sure how that could work, though there may be other types of software that have other types of templates where this works. One approach that some people use is to create notes you want to use as templates and keep them in a templates notebook, then copy and paste from them (or duplicate them) as needed.

Rolling out Evernote desktop 10.60.4
Dave-in-Decatur replied to Federico Simionato's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Please don't double post. For me, if I'm "in" a notebook, then I want to find stuff in that notebook, so I wouldn't need the "Located in" filter. If I want to find stuff in another notebook, I can go to that notebook, or else start the search in the Search field, and click Everywhere. -
Emailed notes are not added
Dave-in-Decatur replied to OCP's topic in Evernote for Android Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
There have been some issues with emailing into Evernote recently, though supposedly they were caused by some system updates last Friday and should be fixed. Take a look at this thread, and add on there: -
Hi, @vincent.lo, and welcome to the forums. We're mostly other users here, so there are limits to what we can suggest. My question would be about your Internet connectivity. Evernote is constantly syncing, and if there are hiccups in connectivity, this kind of thing might happen, I think. Beyond that, you may need to contact Evernote's tech support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
