  2. Just reviewed the video to be sure. Key statements: - Testing does involve an increasing number of participants, starting with just a few (hundreds) in the initial round. - Public betas are in general open, but as well participants are advised that there still may be glitches. Nobody is advised to use a beta on critical workflows or data. Real support can not be given to these users. - EN is working on a feature that would allow to install betas side by side with the actual version. Why am I writing ? Because this forum is full of „feedback“ that is practically useless because it is based on betas (several ones at the same time, euch one having a different, not reproducable release level): OS Catalina beta, browser Safari beta, web clipper beta, EN client beta, and probably more beta stuff installed. The betas will be gone for good soon, but the Forum postings will still be there, mixing up with feedback on real bugs in the new software. It will be fun to sort this out, then.

    Evernote 7.12 Beta 1

I never stated what version Evernote was testing. I merely made the point that the new CEO made a video asking the community to sign up to beta test unreleased versions of Evernote. This was in response to the previous post. If beta testing is so bad, why would Evernote seek the community to sign up to beta test? The answer is we are actively beta testing almost all software because it is never finished and constantly being updated and changed. Call it a beta, an insider build, a preview build, etc. Also, we are speaking specifically about the Mac version of Evernote and its lack of ability to work with Safari 13 to webclip web pages. This functionality is one of the main reasons to use Evernote and should have an alternate way to do this as I made the suggestion in my posts above.
  5. For example, look at the attachment below to see how Chrome makes it intuitive to tell which tab is selected and which tab is unselected. Which tab do you think is selected? The first tab or the second tab? The answer is the second tab. Chrome makes the selected tab stand out from the top bar. You can see that the selected tab is dark, while the unselected tab and top bar are both light. In other words, the selected tab stands out from the top bar, while the unselected tabs blend in with the top bar. I don't care if the selected tab is light, while the unselected tabs are dark, or if the selected tab is dark, while the unselected tabs are light. The point is, the selected tab should stand out from the top bar, while the unselected tab should blend in with the top bar. If the top bar is dark, the selected tab should be light to stand out, and the unselected tab should be dark to blend in with the top bar. If the top bar is light, the selected tab should be dark to stand out, and the unselected tab should be light to blend in with the top bar. In Evernote, the top bar is light gray, so the selected tab should be dark gray to stand out from the top bar, and the unselected tabs should be light gray to blend in with the top bar.
  6. When you look at the attachment below, which tab do you think is selected? The first tab or the second tab? The answer is the second tab. It's hard to tell which tab is selected because the selected tab is light gray, which is the same color as the top bar (the toolbar and tab bar). This makes the selected tab blend in with the top bar, when it should stand out from the top bar. Currently, selected tabs are light gray, while unselected tabs are dark gray. I think it should be reversed: the selected tab should be dark gray, and the unselected tabs should be light gray. This is because I think the selected tab should stand out from the top bar. It's more intuitive.

    Evernote 7.12 Beta 1

You are confused as to which beta version is being tested. This discussion has nothing to do with the IOS beta versions.

    Evernote 7.12 Beta 1

Wow, listen to you. Not sure if you realize this or not but Evernote is actively seeking the ENTIRE community to beta test for them. Betas are part of everyday life and platforms like windows have insider builds that are Beta releases and they are being used in a large way. I am not telling you how to use software but if Evernote wants to continue to exist as a platform, they shouldn’t discourage people from using a key feature of the platform by not allowing it to work. Mac users do not typically like to use alternate browsers because they sick more battery and don’t use all the features Apple provides users. My point in all of this was Evernote should find an alternate way to do web clipping by pasting a link into an Evernote Client and asking the user what they should do with it. If you don’t use beta software, you have no real feedback to provide here. I have no idea why you are even involved in this post.
  9. I think I found the problem. In NordVPN preferences there is a feature called CyberSec that blocks ads and malware; I had it checked. Previously it did not interfere with EN, but either something in EN 7.12 changed that caused it to be flagged by CyberSec, or NordVPN changed something in CyberSec that erroneously flagged EN. After unchecking this feature, EN is now able to sync while I'm connected to the VPN. For anyone else using NordVPN that has the same issue, try turning off CyberSec.
  10. I'm using a EN-desktop app on Windows 10 laptop... and clip using EN-Web Clipper extension for Chrome I have loads of stacks, 20+, and notebooks, 200+. When using the Clipper, and after selecting 'clipping format', the next clipping field is 'organization'. I click the down-arrow on this field to reveal the search box, and also to show all my stacks/notebooks. Most of the time I already know the notebook I wish to clip to, and just start entering the name in the search field to easily find/select it... but sometimes I scroll through the list, through a long list... so my question is, is there anyway to have this list populate, or be shown as a rolled-up/collapsed Stack view?
  11. User name is used for EXB files. So moab762 .exb is an EN data base for user moab762. Are you signing in with that user name, did you before? When you sign in to the web what usere name do you use. Check Tools - Options to see what/where your EN data base is. I store my DB in a non-default location.

  13. If I double-click to select a word that I want to reformat (say add underline) then the space after the word is selected too. When I apply the underline the trailing space is underlined too. Can this behavior be changed so that for text formatting the trailing space is not formatted, or not treated as part of the selection. The workaround, which is to drag the mouse pointer across the letters of the word to select it, is too slow and clumsy.
  14. I checked that file path and there is no databases folder in the evernote folder. What do I do create one? And where do I get the database file moab762.exb?
  15. I logged out of all accounts phone and computer and browser. Then relogged in on phone. Worked fine. But when I relogged in on windows it gave me the following error.
  16. Maybe post back when you get an answer, for posterity.
  17. Yeah, a reboot doesn't solve it either. I'm waiting to hear back from NordVPN support to see if they can solve this.
  18. Scenario: In the Windows app, I'm in note "A" with a link to another note, note "B". In note "A", I've scrolled down five screens, which is where the link to note "B" is. I click on this link for note "B" and I'm taken to note "B". So far so good. I then hit Alt + Left Arrow to navigate back. This is a standard keyboard shortcut for browsers, and the good news is that I'm taken back to note "A". The bad news is that it takes me back to the top of note "A", instead of five screens down (which is where I was in note "A" before jumping to note "B"). Feature request: Navigating backwards—and forwards—should take you to the same location in a note, especially in the same "session". (This is how it does work in the iOS app.) Side note: I cannot find any documentation that says that Alt + Left Arrow and Alt + Left Arrow are supported keyboard shortcuts for navigate back and navigate forward, but they do work. I searched https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209004807-Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Evernote-for-Windows. System info: Windows 7 Pro SP1 • Evernote 6.20.2.8626 (308626) Public (CE Build ce-62.3.7750) Related to: By the way, a couple of newbie questions. I'm using Google Chrome Version 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) Where can I find help on creating posts? (I searched and searched and couldn't find help on the forum itself.) How do you add tags to a post? How do you reference another post? (I copied and pasted the URL, but is there a better way?)
  19. Sorry, got nothing else other than maybe a reboot. Like @PinkElephant I am not having any sync issues through my VPN. Private Internet Access to be specific.
  20. Yes. I was completely logged out on my desktop when I reinstalled and reset the password and resigned in. But my phone was not logged out if that makes a difference. Where is log file?
  21. You are on a beta, following your own words. A beta is just that, pieces of more or less stable, incomplete software pre-released so that the company can find out what works, and what does not work. If you are running beta software, I would expect that you know this and behave resp. comment accordingly. So thank you for doing beta tests for yourself (and for the rest of us, I do not participate ...), but please stop telling what you are forced to use, and what you have to abandon because of disfunctions. It is practically impossible that all the pieces of software involved (here an OS, a browser, a clipper and a note program) during a beta are so synced to each other in their individual development that one should expect a working workflow. So you force yourself into it by going beta, and that is it.
  22. Different servers make no difference.

    Evernote 7.12 Beta 1

The sad thing about this is this causes me to have to use Chrome (which I don't like to on MacOS and won't do normally) or I just don't use Evernote and cut it out of my life. Wouldn't a better option be for Evernote to do some sort of web clipping when pasting a URL into the actual program? At last having that option available? I understand this is not possible now but should be a feature they implement to avoid issues like this in the future,
  24. ... or, if you access through the web client, go back to the „classic view“. The new version is known for sometimes not showing all existing notes.
  25. Did you completely sign out of EN, File - Sign out username? Any errors in the log file? Be sure you are using the exact username and password.
  26. Kind of a pick your poison at this point. I did post to EN that dispersing the Notebook/Title/Tag data wasn't a move with which I agreed. Particularly since the same structure appeared in the Windows preview. You could do the same.
