  2. What's ironic about this comment to me is that the changes Bending Spoons has been making lately has been making me fuss and worry about my systems and workflows in Evernote. With Obsidian, I have way more control over how things look and function. Sure, there was an initial learning curve and getting settled, but now I'm on cruise control with way less disruption. Edit: so actually I agree with that comment, but I'm just on the other side of the coin.
  3. 1) Nothing was killed. The v10 app is new. What’s not there was not coded. And THIS is a deliberate decision for simplicity. 2) I doubt after more than 3 years without this option there is any real need to add it. At least you should have better arguments when you tell: feedback@evernote.com
  4. Can you name just one highly popular plugin in Obsidian that people were dependent on (not just cosmetic plugins) that went kaput with no one picking up support? I haven't heard of any. Not to say that it couldn't happen, but the bigger point of my comment is that with Evernote the community has zero control over changes (naturally) and things have changed and been taken away. So worrying about that in Obsidian is a bit of a strawman in comparison.
  5. That is horrible! They have KILLED what was working really well! Another loss... I hope they get that fixed soon... I heavily relied on that/those features!
  6. Probably the functionality you're used to stops. Worse case scenario would be the whole app fails until the plugin is uninstalled. I do wordpress consulting and the biggest single point of failure is third party plugins and themes. Personally I wouldn't give over all my productivity and workflows to hobby projects and free things. Id rather deal with just one place even if that means I can't have all the features all the times in one app. I just need to get stuff done and not spend my life fussing with systems and workflows.
  7. I too would very much like to have Evernote have the capability to dictate using an AI Transcription service like Open AI Whisper directly into an Evernote Note. I am familiar with and have used the Frank Thomas solution that "SeeingHuman" referred to and can confirm that it is very effective and incredibly useful. If I had the needed skill set I would take a shot at creating the exact same solution in Evernote that he did for Notion. If anyone wishes to find out more simply do an internet search "Frank Thomas How to Take Perfect Notes with Your Voice Using ChatGPT". This kind of solution would be ideal in and for Evernote!
  8. You'll have to adapt or move to another product, just like people have had to do for v10 not satisfying features and workflows they relied on in Legacy - or other changes that Bending Spoons make that we get stuck with (e.g. green to blue internal links). The plugins in Obsidian are all open source. Somebody else can pick it up and run with it. We're actually more "stuck" with Evernote in that regards IMO.
  9. 100%. A premium-priced product should also have premium support.
  10. I would imagine there is a far different set of expectations for stability and amount of fiddling necessary between a free app and one that's $170 per year. Even with Obsidian's most expensive sync tier and a commercial license, you still aren't cracking $150/yr. At the basic sync tier, you're under $100. Also, with Obsidian and similar plugin-augmented apps, you can choose to change up your workflow with new features that matter to you, or not. I'm not seeing that option with EN. I pay (a not-insignificant amount). I'm expected to donate my time for bug fixes, while BS uses robots because they don't want to spend their time. My workflows continue to be upheaved at frequent but random intervals. Only a portion of the new features is useful or even relevant to me. Tasks? Don't use 'em. Calendar? Same. This files thing? I can't envision any use for it but without seeing it in action I can't know that. Yet what I did rely on, like mobile offline, is kaput, with a vague assurance that it's being worked on but the longevity of the bug doesn't give me much hope for a resolution.

  12. 2 things stand out to me in this discussion. But if you suggest patience and perseverance to anyone frustrated with Evernote 10, they will curse you like a wet dog. Obsidian seems to get a lot of unearned grace by comparison. The other thing is the need to depend on 3rd-party add-ins. (If I'm understanding this correctly.) What happens if the add-in developer moves on to something else, decides they don't like Obsidian anymore, or just gets too busy to keep updating the add-in? It's a little tough to be heavily dependent on one app and its developers, like Evernote, but I'm very shy of being dependent on a developer and a community of add-in programmers who may range from committed to just hobbyists. Just my thoughts.
  13. Please do indicate your version number and OS. In my Windows desktop app v. 10.84.3 (on Windows 10) and the Web client v. 10.86.2 (the latest, I think), the blue + sign still works fine, so you should be able to continue as you are used to doing. The annoying / hint can be disabled in the ... menu at top right in any note, under Slash commands. But I do find that the Attachment option in that popup does work.
  14. I use it and pay for it. Not perfect. But visual and effective.
  15. I also have only one notebook... Well I have two. One called notes. And one called archive. I use the GIT project evernote-backup to create a full back up once a week. I believe it works for Mac as well.. It is fast, reliable and works every week. Doesn't cost me a lot of time.
  16. I totally agree. It's really unacceptable to experience this level of support, but here we are again, on the forum, complaining to each other about Evernote.
  17. Thanks. I'm still on 10.85.1, and I have automatic updates turned off on my phone, so I'll just wait until I have the time to deal with this to move up to 10.86.
  18. Unfortunately, there is no support. It doesn't matter how critical your problem is. This is a HUGE issue, which doesn't seem to bother a lot of folks on these forums. You are paying for this product. You should get support. Especially in a critical situation like this (but, I would argue, in any situation, given the price we're paying). I hope you find a solution to your problem!
  19. I have Evernote Premium. I have a Mac computer. I want to back up the files that I have. About 20K. I have just one notebook. 1- I have read through the forum messages- don't quite understand how folks are able to do this on a regular basis- every week or so. Seems high level tech to me. Would like a simple explanation of how to do this. 2- Nevertheless, I am able to get start the back-up process. When backing up the notebook, I get several error messages that stops the back up. And then have to restart the whole backup process and after a few minutes get another of these error messages. How do I correct the errors and how do I complete a back up. 3- With the .enex back up, you would need Evernote to be able to read the notes. Is that right? And if evernote should not be available how would we read the back-up notes. Thanks.
  20. Support is quite inundated - we as other users can't really help you with this. We can just ask you to be patient, or use the ticket list on the help pages (requires a login) to look after the ticket. For the future these steps can make sure your account is safe: Store the 2FA codes safely and where you can access them, for use whenever the dynamic code is not available Make sure your phone is safe, using the different locking options and biometrics. You can in addition set up these measures for the EN account as well if you wish (Remark: I personally don't use it) Use an Authenticator that can be use on several devices, not only on a single one. I personally use Authy as independent authenticator app, synced over several devices.
  21. It's not quite like Evernote, if you mean the notes previews next to the sidebar. I stopped using that in v10 because it takes up too much space on the desktop... But the Note Gallery plugin works very well for uploads with different filters and in different folders. It took me about 2 evenings to understand how to use the plugin and how to write the codes. There is a manual for it on his website and you can understand it from there. Of course, it's not as easy as Evernote, but once you understand it, it's fine and you can use it in a very different way. In fact, you can also set it to make a gallery of all notes and sort from the newest to the oldest, or you can limit it to the last 100 notes, for example, so that it doesn't "kill" the Obsidian calculation... I've also put together my own css additional settings for solving 1:1, 2:1 and so on... depending on what I want to display and how I want to display it. A little demonstration I hastily uploaded now on YouTube at my place, what I use it for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3L3ycqD7-YY
  22. On my site, it works fine with 5 notes in all three widget sizes on 10.86.4 desktop on windows 11, while the bug still exits on the web version 10.85.4.
  23. Hello all, I have several tasks that are stuck, I can't change them in any manner and they do not show up in iOS app and do randomly on the web app. I assume this note was deleted and the tasks are now orphaned. I've tried logging out and remove data and uninstall\reinstall. Any ideas how to remove these tasks would be much appreciated. * EN 10.86.4 Desktop * Windows 11
