  1. Thanks for the life hack exchange here. This can come useful if you are in a situation where using a speech assistant is preferred. Generally speaking this is no EN hack, it is a method that makes use of the relevant OS or installed app features. On a Mac it is possible to create a Shortcut with the Shortcuts app, and use it to accelerate the process further, or adapt it to the personal preferences. You then just call the shortcut with Siri, and don‘t need to advise it all. EN itself AFAIK still does not work well with automation or scripting.
  2. To check on this (I don’t use Apple Notes) I created a ENEX file on my Mac Monterey 12.5 in EN 10.41.5 with 5 random notes. I imported them by dragging the file from the desktop on top of the Apple Notes icon in the Dock. All 5 imported just fine, with attachments and all - including the correct 5 notes titles. Just my experience …
  3. Clip - this in fact is not clipping, it is filling a sharing box with content. Open the EN app on the same device, and wait until the clipped content has been imported. Then wait again (on both „waiting“ blocks you can continue to use the app for other purposes) until the new note holding the clipped content has synced to the EN server. It will then be distributed form the server to all other devices. Clipping on mobile uses the sharing, which means it is an on device process, and it lacks possibilities available for the official desktop web clipper. The official clipper does not use the app installed on a computer (it can even be installed if no desktop app is available), and it saves through the API directly to the EN server. These are 2 completely different processes, and if not following along on mobile with what is necessary to make the whole process work, the clipped content is lost.
  4. It only says „Share“ (which is an action you can do), not „Shared“ (which is a Status). And the share buttons are white, with a shared note they would be green. I don’t think this note is shared at all.
  5. It is called import folder, available for both v10 desktop clients. You set it up in app settings, it is pretty much self explanatory. The new version even allows for more than one import folder, each linked to another notebook. And it has finally reached the Mac, thanks to ENs all platform policy with v10.
  6. Would be nice stuff, everything. EN currently does very little to adapt inside of a platform like „EN mobile“ to the abilities of specific devices. If you want to build any pressure, the forum is the wrong place. Issue support tickets, explain your use case. Just „nice to have“ is not enough - make them understand why it may be important for users (new users …) to get a feature. Try the same on the feedback function - it is channeled to EN PM. Wish you success.
  7. Nearly all forum discussions are about the new clients, version number starting with a „10“. You will usually find that things are not working for you as we discuss them. There will be no support by EN for your version, no new releases, and if it fails one day, it fails. The new version is available for you as well (at least on the more recent Windows versions). Download it from the EN website, and when it detects an older version, it will lead you through the conversion. If you use local notebooks, export them first. No local notebooks in the new version. You can install legacy again if you wish after v10 is up and running.
  8. Presentation mode was a whole autonomous set of code, build and maintained for „the few“. This sometimes you only learn after you coded and released it - and then you can let the code just sit there and do the job. But when you change the code base, redo 100% you will not code it again. So it is gone, and EN made it clear it will not return. Live the future, use another tool. That’s it, thanks for watching.
  9. EN takes email as it is received. So if looking for mystery, check on the mail client. Maybe it does a conversion there. Or ask support …
  10. Anybody can request everything. Nobody in my opinion should wait for it ….
  11. Each task is embedded into a note. The current way of tagging is by tagging the note.
  12. This is not a feature, this is fighting a normal aging of the eyesight. What good does it if the line you are typing is locked to the middle of the screen, but the menu is at the top, and other windows are scattered over the screen ? Correct, it does nothing to really prevent a stiff neck or headache from computer use. Get yourself glasses that are optimized for screen work, and your neck stiffness will go away. These glasses are in between reading glasses and glasses for daily use. The lower part is for watching at the screen and documents on the desk, the upper to look at a colleague or customer standing at your desk. Often your employer will provide them to you, if you ask for them. Because they keep you healthy and happy - and productive.
  13. AFAIK EN has no own spell checking resources. They use what is on the host machine. I don’t expect this multilingual spell check to be implemented, because they would probably need to install their own (purchased somewhere) spell checker instead. Sure anybody can ask for it - but it is IMHO not likely to show up.
  14. Thanks for sharing. Personally I would say sharing notes or (better) notebooks works for most people, because threads in the forum about sharing not working are pretty rare. Sorry support could not solve it. You could still try to open 2 new accounts (Free) and try if sharing works there. If yes, either use these accounts for what you want to share, or merge your existing accounts with them.
  15. Personally I don’t think blowing the download page up is a good idea. You always get the latest version on the official website. The installer usually shows the version number. Whether you decide to execute it and run the install is up to you - if necessary disable any automatic install. For older versions you can use sites like Filehippo. Or don’t erase the installer after execution, save them case you want to go back.
  16. We should not say „newest version“, since we get new updates rapidly. So I tried, Web 1.0.41.5 on my iPad, Safari. I can confirm that all attempts to add a photo or file added with a red error message telling the attachment could not be created. I can NOT confirm that a thumbnail with the failed attachment was added to the card view. My test note (created just for that test, it had no thumbnail before) stayed white in card view. Conclusion: The whole upload failed, as the error message said. I issued a support ticket.
  17. HUGE hint that this optimist scenario will not happen. It would probably require an additional index on the database, and that is nothing you add lightly, because it influences performance. And it is not easy, because you need to integrate it into every view where the manual sort should be recognized. A HUGE effort for little gain (36 votes since 2011).
  18. If the native dictation software is used, it may be that it automatically stops after 30sec. This is a restriction of iOS, and maybe it is similar on Android (Have not found an official help text about it). The dictation can be started again, but if I don’t recognize it is stopped, it may seem it was truncated.
  19. Hi Dave, thanks for sharing. Just watched a few videos, some great insight and tips.
  20. If you regard it a bug, nobody will do anything about it - unless you contact EN support by a support ticket. We are just users here.
  21. From the description I think the pictures have a format that is not common (like the infamous WEBP Google tries to promote). The Mac may be able to open it, the web client itself does not recognize it. When opening, the local resource kicks in and provides the necessary code. This can be checked by exporting the picture and looking at the file extension and information on the Mac ( cmd-I ). EN will natively recognize GIF, JPEG and PNG. Just my 5 ct …
  22. No EN fixfix here, just other users. Contact support (iOS app, settings, support) after you had the problem, from the same device to send an activity log.
  23. If you still have the old phone, open the EN app and log out. If not, skip this step. Now open the desktop client. Open the account information. Go to the tab devices. You may see one or 2 iPhones. If you know which one is the one you want to drop, click on it and revoke access. If you don’t know, revoke access to both. This is why my iPhones all get an individual device name in iOS settings. We can’t play try and error here, because you only have 2 revokes per 30 days. After you revoked both (or the correct old one), open the EN client on the new iPhone. It should now allow the access. If all this does not work, because there had been too much going on on your account recently, contact support. Ticket types Billing&Payment and Account should work for all users, Free as well: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  24. A 16 second clip says nothing. A lot of hype, no content. The green triangle does not tell „Oh, I am trying to sync, and it is soooo hard“. It only means „This note still needs to sync“, nothing more. When syncing a little turning wheel would appear top right. And when it has synced, the green triangle disappears. From my experience it can take a minute until it syncs. Most of the time it is faster, but not always. If you want to force it, you can pull down the note list a little, and let go. Or go to settings, synchronization, sync now. In case of a calendar note it probably needs to wait for an answer of the Google calendar through the API before it can sync at all.
