Title column is too narrow after Evernote upgrade
PinkElephant replied to jbenson2's topic in Evernote General Discussions
There is always note window showing. Maybe that’s the reason. -
Title column is too narrow after Evernote upgrade
PinkElephant replied to jbenson2's topic in Evernote General Discussions
The maximum width is restricted. You could only (with an effort) move part of the information you have wrapped into the title into tags or the note body. Search will still find it. -
Cannot select more than 50 notes
PinkElephant replied to cheesybrit's question in Evernote for Mac Requests (Versions 10.0 and above)
What I sometimes do before initiate multi note operations: Take the client offline. I use an app TripMode on the Mac that does this job very easily by toggling a switch for the app. The operations run significantly faster without syncing. The syncing happens when I restore connectivity. -
It is quite obvious somebody decided the new UI is the way to go. Probably a nice PowerPoint presentation, y‘ know how it works. Now it is the best idea since canned milk, and will stay this way ‚til the next PowerPoint presentation … You can send your idea about it here Feedback about the new UI https://waz9zvkd1f2.typeform.com/newuifeedback

Trouble removing shared notebooks
PinkElephant replied to cab12345's topic in Evernote General Discussions
Don‘t think so. The only cases I know when such shared-to-you orphaned notes and notebooks were removed, it happened by support. -
Depois da atualização perdi meus cadernos
PinkElephant replied to leoPrates's topic in Evernote General Discussions
In your screen shot I see a lot of notebooks. Why do you say they are gone ? The use terms for Free has been changed, several months ago. You can have only one notebook if you want to use EN actively. You can have only 50 notes in total. Once you get beyond any of these limits, you can‘t add any more new notes. You can‘t move them either. You can access and edit all existing notes. In short, if you want to continue the use of EN, you will need a subscription. As a student you may qualify for the student subscription. Check for details here: https://evernote.com/unidays -
The sign out likely happened because the app is unable to sync. Try to set the device to flight mode and open the app again. If this works, extract the notes any way (open one by one, select, copy, paste, sharing, whatever) to other apps that can hold the information. If the device is running Android 9 or above, the actual client can be installed. Open new notes there, and move the content back - manually, one by one. If the device can‘t run Android 9 or above, EN v10 can‘t be installed any more. Then it is Game Over for using EN on that device.

Officially the legacy client is not available any more. Filehippo.com is a reliable source for practically all older EN clients, up to the latest. Look up a matching version, install. It will usually find your existing notes, if it is the correct client. Since the location has been changed in the past, I don‘t know where they are located. You can try to find a folder named Evernote on your drive. Holding your notes it should have several GB of size. Before you install, make a copy of this folder, and rename it to avoid it being overwritten (like calling it Evernote.OLD).

Client Not Supported, Please Upgrade - Evernote Free for Mac
PinkElephant replied to angelinacmurray's question in General Technical Issues
First I am not willing to accept your aggressive tone here. We are other users, trying to help. Tone it down to civilized, or I am out. Nobody of us knows what will be after the 23rd of March. You are invited to try and find out. If your client stopped syncing 2 months back, these notes are at risk. Everything on the server can be opened by v10 at any time. The export of legacy allows to export „All“. Which, as you clearly says, will not keep the information in which notebook the note was. There is a backup project on GitHub - but it will export from the server. Unsynced notes will not be saved. To use the client you need to have it logged in before the 23rd of March, and keep it logged in, but (sounds like a contradiction) cut from internet access. Open, log in, now quit it - NEVER again log out. Use the Mac firewall (or a 3rd party solution) to cut the EN client from the internet access. You will continue to use it in eternal offline mode then. You can open it, close it, restart the Mac, whatever, just never log out. I regard this as academic, because key functions are lost in this use, but who wants it can get it. From v10 you have the same working export option as from legacy: Export any notebook, any size. -
@Mike P The hijack posts have been removed from the thread.

Control Which Image Shown in a Note's Thumbnail/Snippet View
PinkElephant replied to marcelo's question in General Feature Requests
This is in fact no long lasting issue, because picking the thumbnail was never offered as a feature. The workaround you mention stopped working when v10 was released. There are several older threads about it - you can find them in forum search, or way up in this thread. You can send feedback to ask for it again. Explain why it would be helpful for your use of EN. -
We are users here. Payment questions can only be answered by support. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We have several threads her about the same issue. From my analysis the core (LOL) problem here is a weak 2-core extremely energy efficient Core i5 from 2014, Haswell design. It will be quickly saturated if the PC is used with several apps in parallel. OP can ask support to return the hardware acceleration switch (which from his experience he needs to turn off). Apart from this there is the web client, and only keep those apps active that are really used. Any CPU demanding tasks (or tasks that would need a faster GPU, and try to emulate this on the CPU) will bring this PC to it‘s knees fast.

Some operations too slow in v10
PinkElephant replied to kitley's topic in Evernote General Discussions
OK, that’s partially good, because a turning disk drive and EN doesn‘t go along well (which was already true for legacy). It‘s partially bad because 25GB is little, and will reduce the lifetime of your SSD. A SSD tries load balancing, which means it sends new storage to cells that have been used less. This extends the total lifetime of the SSD. From your specs I think the bottleneck in your case it the weak CPU. And yes, as you already assumed there is no cheap workaround. The best advise I can give you is to use EN in the web client, instead of using the installed client. When you use the installed client, try to use it with as little additional load on your computer as possible. The 2 cores will be saturated fast. Personally I don‘t expect any optimization from EN on the demand of the v10 client. Why hardware acceleration was removed you need to ask support. -
No, it is only available on mobile. As already posted above, there is no other way to access the location data somewhere hidden in the metadata. It should be possible to export notes to ENEX, open it with a text editor, add the location data where it belongs, save the ENEX again and reimport it. This could likely be automated as well with a script. But it comes with some downsides from the export/import process.

Some operations too slow in v10
PinkElephant replied to kitley's topic in Evernote General Discussions
In your other post I found this: CPU Intel Core i5 4310U, integrated GPU, 8GB of RAM You don‘t list your drive. Is it a turning disk drive, or a SSD ? How much free space is available ? -
Pin Notes to the Top of Your Notebook
PinkElephant replied to BrianZ71's question in General Feature Requests
Personally I don’t care if I use a dateless reminder to pin a note. When it pins, it pins. It works, it is efficient and it is available now. To place other actions on that same note, you can use Tasks. Feel free to send feedback to EN, or issue a support ticket. -
Exit code 6
PinkElephant replied to octopusintell's topic in Evernote for Mac Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
OK, then use the app AppCleaner to remove the complete install of the EN client. Restart the Mac, get the installer from the EN website, install, open, log in. When this has worked and you see your notes, give it a coffee break to run an initial sync (just a precaution). You can then use it, when unused let it run in the background for quite a while. It needs time to download all and setup the local database. -
Some operations too slow in v10
PinkElephant replied to kitley's topic in Evernote General Discussions
The grandfathered subscriptions are terminated. In your case you enjoyed a rebated price (for a reduced feature set) for 6 years now. I would say „it was nice while it lasted“. If you are running the app on a computer from 2018 (or older), what are the rough specs of this machine ? CPU, GPU (if any), RAM, drive ? It may be worth to check for a hardware bottleneck if you claim that hardware acceleration turned ON makes your app crawl.
