  1. Feature I'd guess, to help us keep our systems straight. I personally have about 35 notebooks and know them well enough not to make duplicates. But I'd certainly rather have random numbers at the end of a notebook name than two with the same name. The numbers obviously draw attention to themselves and alert the user to fix it (or at least notice it).
  2. Check to see whether you have another notebook with the same name. I just tested by creating a new notebook with a name identical to an existing one, and sure enough, after it synced it got 6 numbers at the end of the name. Tried again with a different notebook, and got 6 other numbers, which seem to be randomly generated.
  3. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Assuming that this is editable text and not a graphic, there is a button to click to make everything editable which is found in the HTML "box" into which clipped material is sometimes placed. If there is a border around the text and a thick gray bar at the top, click anywhere in that bar. A "magic wand" button will pop up (along with a 3-button options menu); click that wand, and the text will become editable. Hope this helps.
  4. Good news: as indicated in the post below, this has been fixed in v. 10.40, currently available for the Web client and hopefully coming soon to desktop apps.
  5. It's true! You have to select Copy Image, and in the receiving app may have to select Paste as Image. But I did get it to work.
  6. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I'm not sure that what you're experiencing is the same issue as the one described in this thread. Nevertheless, can you please give some more details. Were you making notes in the Web browser version of Evernote? Did the loss of notes also occur in that version? Have you looked in the Trash (which is where deleted notes normally go)? If they're not in the Trash, it's possible that there was a problem in the syncing. The master copy of all notes resides on the Evernote servers, and is synced with the Evernote apps or Web client from there. Be sure you have a stable, strong Internet connection, and give it a chance to sync completely. Please let us know (we are other users here) whether the situation improves or not. PS. Please don't write in ALL CAPS. This is standard etiquette on forums. Instead of conveying urgency, it feels like shouting. Thanks.
  7. Well, an elephant never forgets, so you have the advantage of remembering the lessons you've learned from the past. Some of us (definitely including me!) are more like bulls or pigs--at least in English idiom, where we speak of a stubborn person being bull-headed or pig-headed. We refuse to learn lessons! I will keep putting that little . before a [] because I want a box not a list! I will make the wall remember me, since I refuse to remember it! 😁
  8. @TechGuy, you can find a number of threads on this and similar questions with the not-terribly-sucky search feature. Basically, in Evernote 10 at this point you have to select "View as attachment" for every.single.PDF. Which does kinda suck. I'm hoping that they add back the old option, but not so far.
  9. Hi and welcome to the forums. I haven't encountered this personally. It would help to have a couple more details. Does deleted text ever reappear? If not, can you access Note History? This is on the latest version (I think 10.39) of the Windows desktop app, correct? If the text disappears, is it still there in the Evernote Web client, which is directly accessing Evernote's servers? I appreciate that you're waiting for "All changes saved," which is a good idea. Still, how is your Internet connection? Evernote does so much interacting with its cloud servers that even a connection that works for other apps apparently can give it problems.
  10. Someone on a humor site posted "These days I find 'I am not a robot' to be a good daily affirmation."
  11. Hi, and welcome to the forums. The fact that another account appears with your email but no notes suggests that you accidentally created a new account. This is surprisingly easy to do, if you accidentally use a different email from the one used to create the original account. It does sound like someone is hacking in to your original account, which usually happens when you use the same password there that you use in other services, so that when it gets stolen from another service it unlocks the door to Evernote too. Best bet would be to log in to the original account, making sure you have the right email and password, and change the password there. If you can also get into the accidental new account (assuming that is actually the situation), you can delete it. I hope that this is helpful.
  12. Honestly, I think it's just that the "move note" button is invisible. It took me a few tries until I randomly hovered my mouse at just the right place, and now I know it's there. IMHO, nothing would be lost by keeping it visible. IMHOO (other opinion), it works fine when you know it's there. Does anybody say "meh" anymore?
  13. Hello, @ronaldgevern, and welcome to the forums. Welcome ... but I'm going to ask you to prove that you're not a bot, please. You're giving a generic answer to a 2-year-old thread with a link that may or may not lead to something safe. Please respond.
  14. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Do you have a specific response to any of the posts on this thread?
  15. What version are your running? According to the post linked below (earlier in this thread), the problem was fixed in v. 10.39. If you're still experiencing it in that version, can you give more details?
  16. This sounds like the core of the problem. Upgrading simply adds features to your existing subscription; it shouldn't create an entirely new one. As @PinkElephant said, definitely contact support and start a ticket about this. You don't want to end up paying for both!
  17. Also the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+H should remove highlighting in selected text that is highlighted.
  18. If you're looking at the tags list in the sidebar itself, the sidebar can be widened by dragging the margin line between it and the Notes List. Or you can click on the word "Tags" in the sidebar and a much wider list will slide out.
  19. Hi, and welcome to the forums. You can always raise a feedback/support ticket. But the truth is that not many people are producing apps for people like us who have outdated phones. Like asking Microsoft to fix problems running Word on Windows 7 or XP. I wish it worked that way--ideally, it should work that way--but it doesn't.
  20. I agree also. You could put this into one of the feedback/feature requests forums: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/forum/449-product-feedbackfeature-requests/.
  21. Evernote support was very helpful, and the problem is (sort of) solved. They first had me export the note to .enex and re-import it. That did not fix the problem (the imported note also did not display), and the note seemed to hang the import process after it finished. Then they had me go into Evernote legacy v. 6.25, copy the contents there, and just create a new note with a different title and paste the contents into it. The resulting note seems fine: it appears properly in the Web client in all browsers I tested and in the v. 10 Windows app. In the process, I sent them an activity log, which did have some suspicious errors in it, and even the .enex export of the note, but they couldn't reproduce the problem using that. IAC, it seems clear that this was not a syncing error or other problem with Evernote's apps, but something specific to this note itself. It had a somewhat convoluted history, but I wouldn't think an unusual one: it originated as a Web clip, which I simplified and made editable with the "magic wand," edited lightly, and then expanded with further ideas at the top. Later, I copied some of that material over into a new note (which works perfectly), and removed it from the note that now has a problem. It's possible that I deleted something I shouldn't have, but it's hard to see how. This may have begun with v. 10.38 of the apps, but it certainly happened under v. 10.39 as well. In fact, the original note still does not display in v. 10.39, even though the new copied and pasted note does. I don't think it's related to the thread to which @agsteele linked, whose issue was (hopefully) fixed in v. 10.39 and seemed to involve checklists. So, bottom line: I have my note available but neither Evernote nor I know exactly what went wrong, though it appears to be something in the note itself. It's such a one-off that I doubt they'll spend too much more time trying to reproduce it. I myself am going to file it in the STHATSH file (S[tuff] That Happened And Then Stopped Happening).
