  1. @cliff97, this is not the same problem at all. Please start a new thread or find a thread that is relevant to your problem. Thank you.
  2. I've raised a support ticket on this, but I wanted to post it here too in case anyone else might have run into it. It seems to be a matter of the displaying of notes only. It is VERY alarming, but in fact no data seem to be actually lost. On a couple of occasions recently, I've had notes display as completely blank, with the "Start writing, drag files, etc." notice and links to templates as if they were newly created. Their content appears in the previews (e.g., in Cards view) in the Note List, and in the Notes widget on Home. Likewise if I go into Note History, the current version shows the note content exactly as it should be. If I duplicate the note, it does the same weird things. This happens in the current version of both the Windows app and the Web client. It does not happen in the old version 6 on an old Windows 7 computer (in which the note's data display as they should), though it does happen in the current Web client there. With the Web client, it happens in multiple browsers, in both normal and private browsing modes. This is the second time this has happened recently. I got the previous note to appear properly again, but I can't remember how. When it happened again today, with a different note, I tried signing out and back in (both Windows app and Web client), and reloading and force reloading the Windows app, and nothing would cause that note's data to display. It's still that way after several hours. I have not tried reverting it back to a slightly previous version in note history, because frankly I'm afraid to mess with it, even though the data do still seem to be there, just not displaying. If anyone has any advice I'll take it gladly, but this seems like one for support, and they have my ticket.
  3. I haven't been having problems (not that problem; I've had issues with the extension disappearing from my browser toolbar, but that's a browser issue). Obvious question, but is this happening mainly with certain types of pages or certain sites?
  4. Yes, "simplified article" is generally a great option, unless you're trying for an archived version of the Web page, or there are images you really want that it excludes.
  5. Same here. I got an update notification on Windows today for the first time in several days, at least. Took maybe 2 minutes to download, install, and restart. Since it was before I started doing anything, no problem. Honestly, if a person just does Help > Check for updates before settling in to work, that would take care of it.
  6. Yes, the current version of Evernote (v. 10) requires Android 10 or higher to run. I've got a phone running Android 9, and it's a no-go, so I also have Evernote v. 8 and checklists converting to bullets. Next year when the supply chain unkinks, I'm looking forward to a new phone, new OS, and new Evernote. Officially, "Our top priority is providing you with the highest level of quality, speed, and reliability in our new apps. Therefore, we’re launching the new Evernote for Android first on devices with Android 10 and newer, and we’re working hard to get the app ready for Android 9 and older." Unofficially, I'm not holding my breath.
  7. @Ryq G, I admit I don't find it to be a big problem now that I'm used to it. It was certainly surprising when I first discovered it (in the Web client), but the very ability to proceed to editing text at all was a revelation compared to Evernote 6. Even so, it's not perfect--I sometimes find that after simplifying there are long strings of spaces that have to be deleted. The uninformative gray box remains from the first days this was rolled out, and definitely could use some indicators. I don't know, but I presume the reason for enclosing clipped text (and, I find, text from emails) in the Web box/frame is to allow the possibility of retaining all the original formatting if desired, with the possibility of editing it on purpose but not accidentally. Sort of an "opt in" approach to editing Web-originated content.
  8. Excellent point. I'm definitely not bringing along any unused or abandoned apps. For me it's more a question of old files ... memos from my former job 20 years ago.... Also time to think about what my kids will have to go through some day.
  9. Can you be specific about this? There were some features (like import folders) which were unavailable initially but have come back. There are others that are gone for good.
  10. I'm in a similar process. I already installed Evernote on the new computer, and I was amazed at how quickly my notes became available. Evernote doesn't have to do any conversion of file formats from a Win7 to a Win11 computer, since their native structure is stored on their servers in the cloud, and they just download from that. And now I'm thinking about the craperoonie decisions. Sigh. So much easier to just take them all along to my new giant SSD drive and pretend that I'll go through them some day....
  11. In general, it seems to me (and I live in the U.S.) that Evernote is U.S.-centric at many points involving language. For instance, support for right to left languages was requested years ago. Evidently it still has not arrived, which is really inexcusable for an international company:
  12. From Google translate Hello, and welcome to the forums. Someone else is also discussing the same problem in the following thread:
  13. Sigh. I'll probably regret this, but.... Evernote is a fine piece of note-taking software. It sucks as book-writing software, authoring software, publish-ready software.... Evernote takes notes. It lets you take them on multiple device types and OSes, and sync among all of those. (Including Android, for years now.) It lets you organize them in various ways, and search them. It lets you add images and documents to them, and search those too. Notes ... it's great at notes. Clearly it's not designed to do what you need to do; absolutely look elsewhere--might Scrivener be an option? But kindly spare the world your grief that Evernote doesn't do what it wasn't meant to do. (And maybe your speculations on what it's going to become that it also isn't meant to do, but that's another discussion.) Dang, now I feel like a billy goat gruff.
  14. I was going to say that there are many other, lighter Android note-taking apps (I like ColorNote myself). But then I noticed that you're also using it on a PC and Mac, which leads us to THE "fancy feature" of Evernote, syncing among multiple devices and operating systems. As for all the styling, etc., one person's useless overload is another's essential. That said, there have been other reports and discussion of Evernote being very slow on Android phones. Work Chat may be part of the problem.
  15. Ah! A problem with text disappearing from bulleted lists has been reported in more than one thread. The fact that you had just copied the text may be accidental. Evernote has put out an update, v. 10.39, that should fix it (if this is the same problem). Here is the update notice; you can look through that thread for other reports of the problem:
  16. There seems to be something more happening here than checkboxes versus checklists, since the first list is clearly a new-style checklist, with checked items also struck through. I've experienced this annoying conversion of checklists to bulleted lists when lists that were made in the current v. 10 are displayed on older versions of Evernote, e.g., v. 6 in Windows and v. 8 in Android. Is there any chance that the Web Evernote client in Firefox is not updated to the current version 10??
  17. Glad it's sorted out. Maybe not a bug, then, just an odd way of doing things.
  18. Hi, and welcome to the forums. This is the forum for the Web version, not Android; but the problem has also been reported in the Windows app, so it may be present in Android also. In any case, they have a fix for it that is being distributed. Here is the info for Windows; check the Play Store for an Android update:
  19. Well ... I will bet you $1 million that my stove will fry an egg better than putting it under the hood of my car while it's running. But still not clear what this conversation is for.
  20. Hi, and welcome to the forums. This is not happening to me. What version of Evernote do you have, and what version of Windows? Have you tried quitting Evernote completely (File > Quit Evernote, not just clicking the X in top right)? Or perhaps sign out and sign back in. This might "refresh" the program enough to fix the problem.
  21. I have a Professional subscription, and I just checked, and I also find Save as template grayed out. I also checked in my up-to-date Evernote Windows app, and it's grayed out there too. @chrisdelrey, this is not something that I need to do very often, but if it's important to you, I would definitely raise a ticket with Support, and tell them you're not the only one reporting this. In fact, I just searched the forums, and found this was reported already in February. The intrepid @Mike P discovered that if you insert a header by typing # a (or select large, medium, or small), even if you then delete it (or use Ctrl+Z to undo it, I find), the Save as template option becomes available. Clearly a bug.
  22. Jon/t, this is very precise. I hope you have reported it to Support so they can do some tests of their own. Everybody is. No, "everybody" is not. Everybody reporting it here is. But I've never encountered this problem. Perhaps I simply haven't done the specific sequence of actions that cause it. Evernote is used by so many people in so many ways that it's not surprising that one subset of users, following similar procedures, is experiencing the problem, while others using different procedures do not experience it.
  23. I first started using v. 10 at all precisely for its ability to make Web-clipped content editable, in a way generally superior to the legacy v. 6. I did that in the Evernote Web browser client, while continuing to do most of my work in v. 6. Meanwhile, v. 10 continued to improve, and I now use it happily (but continue to use v. 6 on an older Windows machine that is gradually being phased out of use).
  24. Brilliant! I hadn't yet looked at the right-click menu with notes selected. I see that its contents seem to be identical to the blue-bar menu that pops up when notes are selected, so it can be done from there as well. Thanks! This is essentially a manual, not automated, creation of a ToC, which is still less efficient than the legacy app, but if the ToC note already exists this eases the process considerably.
