  1. Same here, honestly. I think I held out for over a year, waiting for enough functionality to come back. It did, and the added functionalities, which I could try out in the Web client while still using the old v. 6.25 of the Windows program, eventually made it a desirable and easy transition to v. 10.
  2. Just for completeness' sake, when I restarted my computer today and got the notice to update to v. 10.42.7, I made a test note with several kinds of attachments. It synced properly and was fully visible both on my (older, EN v. 8) Android phone and on the Web client. So from my perspective whatever needed fixing did get fixed.
  3. As @gazumped suggested, the issue could have to do with the URL being browsed. In English, at least, there is a bug in which any URL with the string "home" in it, when clicked, is redirected to the Evernote Home page. Why it would send you to the Russian landing page is not clear, though.
  4. Not a headache, exactly, but maybe just an annoying ringing in the ears. I will adjust my process to accommodate it ... until Evernote improves it or makes it optional, and then I'll readjust. A First World problem, definitely.
  5. Thanks for pointing this out: if you use a template to start the new note, Evernote will grab the first line of the template as the title. Pretty dysfunctional. For all the people who've been begging for auto-titling, this implementation may be a boon, but for the rest of us it is pretty much a mess.
  6. Hi, and welcome to the forums. There have been a number of questions raised about this. I think the standard reply (from your fellow users, which is basically who's on these forums) is "Yes, Evernote would like you to pay for its services, and they'll ask you to do so. Since free lunches are increasingly rare, you may need to consider this the price you're paying in lieu of cash for the service." Not meaning to be dismissive, but there it is. If Evernote did like Google and Facebook, and collected our personal info to sell to advertisers, they wouldn't need us to subscribe. They don't, so subscriptions are their only source of the revenue necessary to do what they do.
  7. This bug has been reported in the forums a few times. Simply do any typing at all in the note (it doesn't have to be a heading, and you can then just undo it). That should activate the "Save as template" option.
  8. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I hear your frustration. My one question would be on the word "widespread." I never, or almost never, experience these issues. If 50 people report them here, and 100 times that many experience the problem without reporting here, that's still 5,000 or so users out of a couple hundred million. If you're one of the paying customers, you can always raise a support ticket (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). The forums are mainly user-to-user, which makes it hard to troubleshoot specific syncing issues. I don't mean to seem dismissive, because a persistent sync problem would be very annoying; but vociferous discussions on the forums can give the impression of a more widespread issue than really exists.
  9. Two years later and it's greatly improved. They are never, never, ever going to ditch version 10 and start over at v. 6.26. Or v. 1, if that's what you really mean,. For me, on a good home WiFi network, syncing is instantaneous. Is there something specific you have a problem with?
  10. This is a feature-request forum, so you can click on the upward pointing arrow at the top of this page to vote up the idea. So far it only has 1 vote.
  11. Let me just jump in to say that if you have notes that are still marked "uploading in progress" since 2017, they are not really uploading and are not going to upload--unless you have not had a reliable Internet connection for more than a few minutes in the last 5 years. You would do best to locate those notes, copy their content to the clipboard, create new notes, and paste the content there. If the new notes upload/sync successfully, you can the delete the ones that failed to upload. As for the "hidden" notes, again the question of time enters in. If they have been waiting for more than a few hours to finish uploading, they also may never finish uploading, and you should try going to those sites and clipping/sharing them to Evernote again. I don't think Evernote 8 on an unreliable Internet connection is really set up to clip several Web pages in rapid succession. It might be better to clip one, let it sync, then clip the next one, etc.
  12. Thanks for this. I'll probably go ahead and install it (after using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall v. 6 first). I can see (or at least have an ill-informed supposition about) why v. 10 might overload an older machine and OS during a big merge job like that. I'm unlikely to need to do that, but I'll keep cautious for awhile. This is actually a big help, because I'm starting to get so used to v. 10 that I forget aspects of using v. 6, and it'll be much easier to only use the one. Fortunately, there isn't anything in v. 6 that is essential to what I need to do.
  13. Can you expand on that bit? What would v. 10 need to get from a Legacy installation? I do suppose that it would be best to uninstall v. 6 with Revo Uninstaller before doing anything else, just to make sure there are no lingering crumbs to confuse the v 10 installer.
  14. Thanks for the info. It's beyond me, then, since I don't use a Mac, and am still on the older Evernote Android app. Hopefully others here will offer suggestions. Can you give us the exact message about cookies that you're getting in the Evernote apps? On the Mac, are you using the Web clipper extension in your browser to share the material from Instagram to Evernote? FWIW, here is an ancient thread on cookies in Evernote: And here is Evernote's Privacy page on their use of cookies: https://evernote.com/privacy/cookies.
  15. @idoc, if you have time could you reply to the thread I started on Evernote 10 and Windows 7? You seem to be the only one around with actual experience.
  16. Maybe I need to dialog more with the person in the original thread who actually has this working. I'm very reluctant to go ahead with the install. The deal is I still use this older computer because I haven't yet finished setting up the newer Win10 one as my main machine. I'd love to have EN 10 working on the old machine, instead of having to use legacy plus the Web client. I only use v. 6 because I didn't think I could run v. 10 on this computer--I like v. 10 and am not attached to any features of v. 6. But I'd hate, hate, hate to install v. 10, use it twice, and have it louse something up.
  17. In the Tags list you can sort by note count, which at least finds the tags with 1 or 0 notes associated. But there doesn't seem to be a way to select multiple tags to delete or otherwise act on.
  18. I take it that this is happening with the Evernote Web browser client. Any more details you could add would be helpful, including the "blah blah," and especially the Evernote version number (click on "Need a little help?" at bottom left, then Release Notes). Generally speaking, allowing cookies happens in your browser settings. If you recently tightened up the cookie settings for the sake of security, or switched browsers, you may need to allow an exception for Evernote. It's also possible that a recent Evernote update changed its cookie handling in some way, and again specifying an exception (e.g., for 3rd-party cookies) in the browser settings may help.
  19. Thanks. See also this thread, especially in August 2022 near the bottom, after the feature was added:
  20. I haven't seen this, and I wonder if it is connected to specific display hardware, or to Windows display settings. If you're on a paid Evernote subscription, it would be good to open a support ticket (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new), and give them information about your display hardware and settings, as well as the usual system and Evernote version info.
  21. My understanding has been that Evernote v. 10 simply would not install under Windows 7, per "Operating system requirements for Evernote" (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012107027😞 "Evernote is compatible with the operating systems listed below.... WINDOWS: Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)." But I still have a Windows 7 computer, and when I just went to evernote.com and clicked Download, I got the v. 10 installer. Clicked it, and it did indeed offer to install, once I quit the running copy of Evernote (v. 6). I canceled at that point. So does anyone have any experience doing this? (Recognizing in advance that Win 7 is to be deprecated because of security issues.) Does the Evernote 10 Windows app run reliably under Windows 7?
  22. Well I'll be . My understanding was that v. 10 simply would not install under Win 7, per "Operating system requirements for Evernote" (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012107027): "Evernote is compatible with the operating systems listed below.... Clicked it, and it did indeed offer to install on my Win7 machine, once I quit the running copy of Evernote (v. 6). I canceled at that point. I'm going to start another thread on this, to see if this is working for others as well ... or at least working up to a point, since @idoc is having this particular issue.
  23. I realize this probably won't help you, but just for the record Thunderbird has an add-on called EnForward that can be configured to forward emails to a specific notebook. The limitation is that once that is specified, it becomes the default until you change it in the add-on's options.
  24. Another revival of a dead thread.... The lack of posts over periods of 2 and 3 years says something about the prevalence of the problem. I agree it would be nice to have an auto-comparison of conflicting notes. I suspect there are a bunch of other desirable improvements in line ahead of it. I can guarantee that if it is ever implemented, a flame war will break out here with people screaming that Evernote is reading their notes to compare them, which it promised never to do.
  25. Hi, and welcome to the forests forums (sorry). From a sort of geezer perspective: 3 or 4 years ago, bug fixes were taking months to resolve. There was great grumbling on the forums about the lack of updates. Now that Evernote has been rebuilt from the ground up, precisely in order to make fixes and improvements more responsive, there is grumbling that updates are happening. Are you getting updates (i.e., free improvements to the product without having to ask for them) more than once a week? I get one every week or two.
