  1. Yes ScanSnap is extremely useful, better and faster than taking multiple photos. Especially if you have lots of paper to scan as I do. Another massive feature missing from version 10. They’ve left so much out really this isn’t Evernote any more but a very poor copy indeed.
  2. I think you have done a very good job of summing up many of our concerns, thank you bigtelco I think the very least Evernote can do under the circumstances is take down the threat to disable, destroy, stop from working, stop from syncing the "Classic" "Working version" of Evernote. Please if there is one request I have, is that they don't pull the plug on Evernote classic before this (Totally Disastrous) Version 10 release is fixed. At lest until they have fixed it on the desktop. That is where I get most of my work done, not on the mobile phone, iOS but on the desktop.
  3. Many many paying customers are saying exactly this, including me. It’s shocking. Right now on top of all this I’m experiencing sync problems, I updated some notes this morning on my Mac, now I’m on the road and guess what! The notes won’t sync to my iOS version ( 10 as well) so I don’t have the important information at hand that I needed. This never ever happened with the old classic “working” version.
  4. I totally agree, I’ve been a paying customer for over 9 years and I don’t want to have to leave but I feel like I’m literally being pushed out by a combination of the totally unusable version 10, the threat to take away the classic working version and the total lack of communication from this new parent company, I can’t bring myself to call them Evernote because all of a sudden they don’t seem to understand their own product or users. This new version should never have been released. I left the beta program early on because there was just too much missing from the program in order to use it at all, I never dreamt they would release it in that state!
  5. Dear URamsing, I agree with all this, there was just one item I wanted to talk about at the moment though, Tags at note's bottom. I agree, it's illogical to move them down the bottom, I remember Ian Small saying it was moved down, demoted because, (with a big smile on his face) less than 2% of our users use tags ! wow, that's hard to believe isn't it, I would have thought out of their paying customer base that one of the things I would have paid for "and used" were tags, cause they are great!. Ian then talked about user interface consistency, and how they should all be similar, iOS, Android, Mac, PC Etc. Well on the iOS Evernote 10 the tags are edited at the top so what's that all about Ian? They sit at the top of the screen! did you forget and there's even less screen real-estate on a phone which was the second reason he gave for moving them down, wasted space where they were at the top. I don't think that is accurate, is my politicians reply to that. Go to: 33:00 approx to hear the explanation from the man himself. Quote Ian Small: "The issue is that tag users are less than 2% of our audience". I would say yes, that is an issue, an issue of you not getting over either the importance or their ease of use. So instead of addressing that, move them out of the way, that makes complete sense. Not. You know I'm more worried about the fact that Ian Small doesn't appear to use, or understand the importance of tags himself than the fact that they've moved down the screen. Just as long as they don't move off the screen, I'll be happy. Me: I don't think Ian Small uses tags, go on, I dare you, someone, ask him.
  6. There are 35 keyboard shortcuts missing from version 10 for mac, some of which were essential to my workflow and many others. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313358-Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Evernote-for-Mac
  7. I think the point is that with some people it still works if you are not connected to the internet but others do need a connection to search or access their notes, it's not consistent and for me the most obvious problem is it's glacial in speed at all times, I can still tap on a favourite and it takes anywhere between 1 and 8 seconds (record 11 seconds) for it to display the associated notes. We were not talking about thousands of notes here, it had to find 23, the same 23 it had to find yesterday but had not cashed and completely forgotten about them, apparently over night. I deliberately left Evernote running so it could do whatever house keeping it needed to do in the background in case that helped but it's been running nearly a week now and it's not getting any faster. This very slow speed alone makes it unusable for me, add to this the long list of long term features simply missing and it's not the Evernote I came to rely on. It's a completely different product all together with a green elephant pasted on the logo, a pale comparison to the classic (working) version. For me the 35 missing keyboard shortcuts are quite incredible, I didn't use them all but we're talking basic ones here, like CMD-J, they say it's coming back but to not have put this in in the first place when they knew how important it was is staggering. Didn't I hear that Evernote is written in Java Script running in a framework called Election, Haven't all mac users for ever complained about the performance of Java Script on the mac for years or is it my imagination? The performance of the app would confirm this wouldn't it? I have classic Evernote 7.1.4 on my 2011 iMan and it runs every request instantly, opens quickly, no delays. I have Evernote 10.1.7 on my brand new 2020 iMac and it's so slow, opening searching, clicking on notebooks, favourites etc it's infuriating to use. I am hoping that enough things get fixed for me to be able to use the new version but it's taken 2 years to get to this position and even powder-users, (not me) are in such a small minority according to Ian Small (less than 2% use tags ! for instance) that I don't think they will ever be listened to.
  8. I’m experiencing exactly this and it makes the new app unbearable to use. The old app does all these things virtually instantaneously. Everything the new app does without exception is much much slower, less intuitive, simply broken or totally missing. It’s staggering what they have come out with. I understand it was written from scratch, well it’s a poor copy indeed, not worthy of the name Evernote. Developers, I’m not joking when I say this new app is unusable, doesn’t that bother you? It should.
  9. We are no more important in their lives than, what’s the phrase, I know, less than 2% they are interested in money, not art. they had something good and they threw it away. We are not taking Steve Jobs here or Tim Cook. No they are not any where near their league. In their minds though they are right up there. Sad for all of us 2% ers.
  10. I don’t think tags will go but that was an amazing statistic less than 2% use them, I do use them for the simple reason I often don’t know what I’m looking for until I see it, so I use tags as a memory aid. I don’t know how many different associated note for instance relate to my car and I can’t do a search for the word car of course because that would bring back too many unrelated notes, so I think ahead and put the tag:car on the important car related notes and then don’t worry about finding the exact notes I want every single time. I use this for many many important things to me. Just searching without structure does not work for me at all. That is also why I put things in folders on my computer.
  11. That makes sense in some ways but did you know that less than 2% of users actually use tags, Don't take my word for it, take Ian Small's, Evernote CEO's word instead in this YouTube video recorded only yesterday 18th Oct. Data says that tags are not widely used so will they drop them going by what you and Ian Small say. Don't you think that would be a very hard choice indeed if tags were left behind, because they are "not widely used". How many of my important features or yours would rank lower that 2% going by this, I thought everyone used tags, well over 75% would have been my guess, I was way out, I was very surprised to hear this. I thought tags were essential to a good workflow, apparently 98+% of Evernote users don't think so. Go to this YouTube video at around 33:09 and listen to Ian Small say himself "Less than 2% of our audience" He moved them to the bottom because 98% of users don't use tags and they were "in the way". I wonder if Ian Small is in the (less than 2%) somehow I don't think so. https://youtu.be/7gz0mxGC4-0
  12. Yes that’s exactly what I want, not tabs but the ability just like in the classic version to be able to open two instances of Evernote windows next to each other, with all the notebooks, tags, favourites on the left of both windows. It’s so useful to be able to see two separate lists of your notes and be able to drag between and reference them, sort them, find them separately on the same screen at the same time, leaves tabs in the dust so I hope they bring that feature back. Also I never thought of myself as a power user but did you hear that shocking statistic about how many users actually use tags! Just 2%, I suppose it’s true but wow and then use that statistic instead as a example of how they have failed to get over their usefulness, use that statistic to tuck them away at the bottom of the screen in that stupid new place instead of where they should be at the top next to the name of the notebook you are in as before. To say as Ian said that this saves on screen real estate like he did is not correct, it actually takes up more room on the screen and means your eyes have to work harder getting the info on the note you are looking at. Still my eyes could do with the workout.
  13. I also have 10,000+ notes to move, took me 10 years to get to this position, I'm really hating this. The utter contempt to their users is gutting.
  14. This happened to me today, so frustrating. Eventually I opened the desktop app and found multiple untitled notes created but in iOS only one.
  15. Thank you GrumpyMonekey, I'm still looking for an alternative, I've not found anything that approaches the old Evernote unfortunately so for speed I'm forced to just go with Apple for now until I find the new place to rest my files safely and reliably.
  16. Good luck, sounds like you have taken on a full time job! By the way these are almost, if not exactly the same issues that Mac users are facing.
  17. This sounds like the best explanation so far of what’s going on by far thank you.
  18. Yes I had to load the old version as well because the new version is so shockingly bad. Never seen a company do something like this before, it’s like corporate suicide. What are they thinking? If I worked for that company right now I wouldn’t be getting much sleep. I can tell you as a 10 year paid subscriber I’m not sleeping either. Wrote this at 2:35am I put the last ten years of my life into Evernote.
  19. While export still works (no guarantee it will stay that way) I am exporting my notes, one notebook at a time into Apple Notes, I prefer the old Evernote but the company say they will stop supporting the old version (at some point) so I have no choice the new Evernote is unusable, shocking. Of course, you have to use the old version of Evernote to do this because you guessed it, the new version can’t. how to export into Apple Notes:
  20. I know Evernote has always been in the cloud of course, but it was also on my computer, that's the only way it could bring back the search results and screen re-freshes so quickly, so when I did a simple search it was instant, when I clicked on a notebook it was instant, when I clicked on a tag it was instant. As you know, now it isn't approaching those types of speeds, I can click on a tag and yesterday one took 8 seconds to re-fresh and show me the associated notes (10). I videoed it because I couldn't believe it. What do you think accounts for the incredibly slow speed so many users are experiencing now in version 10+ but not in the previous versions. I have a quite good internet connection speed and nothing is competing with Evernote for the bandwidth. 14ms ping, 148mbps download, 21mbps upload and the computer I'm running Evernote 10.1.4 on is 11 years younger than the computer in the other room running 7.14 and you guessed it the 7.14 computer is instant in it's searches and screen re-freshes instant, this one is not with it's 11 year younger architecture. I can click on a tag or a notebook and literally start counting 1, 2, 3, etc. and then it re-freshes, the longest time it took was on one tag, 9 seconds I got to before it showed the results. (Update) just did it again to show myself I wasn't fooling myself, I switched back to Evernote 10.1.4 and clicked on a tag in the side bar, I counted to 8 before it re-freshed. Approximately 8 Seconds of counting, I wasn't counting fast but trying to make each number, one second long.
  21. Remember when you could just open another entire window and place it next to the other one already open, ahh the good old days. (last week). There’s nothing more luxurious than being able to have two different evernote windows open on the same screen at the same time. That’s luxury, bring it back please.
  22. Hi, I tried using (⌥ ⌘ F) instead of CMD-J as suggested, just in case it worked and it not only doesn't it work, I get this choice in return (See Screenshot Below) ??? You couldn't make this stuff up! Apparently Evernote (latest Mac version 10.1.4) thinks I have multiple Inboxes with different numbers of messages in them. What the? Sorry but when you've put your life into a program for the last 10 years, all my most important files, pictures, documents and the people that own it suddenly do this, it's too frustrating for words, it's shocking. Nothing of consequence works. It's utterly broken and unusable, why can't they see this, don't they use it themselves? Maybe we should ask them what they use to organise and store their most cherished memories and swap over to that, because it can't be Evernote 10, how on earth was this released. I'm seeing bug on bug on bug, Today when I upgraded to the latest iOS version is the first day I've seen duplicated notes as reported by so many other people in the forums, I didn't have that in the earlier upgrade, no, now it's an added feature. Honestly have any of you ever seen anything like this before with any other software, I haven't. If I wrote down all the bugs I'm experiencing it would be a full time job. Crazy user interface choices, 30+ missing (essential) keyboard shortcuts, perfectly good .pdf file corrupted by evenote, just because I tried to annotate it. (Staff reached out to me to sort that one out and then disappeared) probably under an avalanche of other problems. For me though the vast majority have been with the Mac OS desktop version, I see the same problems in the windows desktop forums as well though.
