  1. After getting over the shock of actually hearing from Ian Small, Evernote once reading his response there is nothing new. Our essential missing features are still missing and in the future, if we are lucky, with no dates given so version 10 remains totally unusable, slow and annoying, nothings changed. Did you get the digs at the complaining power users, he really hates us 0.2%ers Im sorry but I had to laugh when he referenced some as yet to be announced killer new features in the pipeline for the new year. Did you notice the lack of specifics. We haven’t even got preferences or keyboard shortcuts to mention just two, Oh please Ian, really,!what do you take us for? this simply isn’t good enough but I am amazed he did anything. I bet he was grinding his teeth writing that, but well done Ian, all we want now is a weekly update from you and details on these killer features that will make the pain we all feel go away.
  2. I brought this weird non window refresh up quite some time ago when EN10 was released as no other software has ever behaved in this way, only to be told by other users in the forum that it wasn’t a bug but a feature so I asked okay what’s the advantage to this odd annoying behaviour and the thread went silent. I find it very strange how some people on the forum will defend anything, no matter how ridiculous. Of course we need the selection to refresh and show the contents of the selected note. If not I would love someone to explain the opposite view because I just don’t get it. This is yet another example of why users hate the new Evernote, there must be too many Yes men working for Evernote, afraid to speak out or they will lose their jobs. I could never work for a company that goes against logic in this way and completely ignores their user base legitimate complaints. I reported many of these bugs, as did thousands of others during the beta program, only to be completely ignored. Evernote will be pleased to know that I have been doing an extensive search for an alternative and as yet found nothing comes close to the still working Classic version. If they cut that off by petulantly breaking the sync to the old classic, as they threaten to, I will be up a creek without a paddle. The lack of responce to user concerns from Evernote is shocking. Their silence speaks volumes. Why can’t they see we need some reassurance that they won’t cut us off from the Classic working version. UPDATE: the second I finished writing this the next story I read was this: A responce at last from Ian Small, they are there after all, I was wondering where he had gone, he’s been writing this for the last two months: https://evernote.com/blog/state-of-the-product/ Still no reassurance about keeping the Classic version working though. I read into this that really Ian Small wishes power users didn’t exist and that his key user base should really be people using Evernote once a week for their shopping list that still pay him and have never heard of tags. I noticed lots of little digs at these horrible users that keep complaining. Apart from a begrudging acknowledgment that they messed up big time (for which I am thankful) there is very little new information. He should be a politician. Here’s a suggestion, if Evernote 10 had been released as a public beta and not a replacement for the classic (working) Evernote this would have saved a lot of people a lot of pain and worry, we could have simply all worked together until Evernote beta was a fit replacement and migrated over without all these shocking problems and embarrassment on their part, thus preserving the reputation of the company. Doing it the way they have has damaged the trust long term whether they like it or not.
  3. Our problem is that our idea of acceptable and theirs obviously differ somewhat.
  4. I don’t know if you heard but we have all been threatened by Evernote with them withdrawing the classic version at literally any time now, breaking its sync so it doesn’t matter about your backups, they would be useless. I don’t call that hysteria when you spent the last 10 years pouring your life into the program, only to be told ***** you, you mean nothing to us, your data is worthless, all the time you spent putting that data into our product counts for nothing. The new version is totally unusable and they have been working on this rubbish for the last 2 and a half years. For gods sake, the CEO doesn’t even understand tags. He laughed about them. Does this and all the other horror stories really give you confidence they can fix this because for me it doesn’t. I’ve never seen anything like this before. My life is in that program so that is why I am passionate, like many others. Though I do of course understand that some people just use Evernote for their shopping list.
  5. That’s a great idea, anything to make our life easier and more colourful.
  6. No Evernote clearly states the following: ” This version is only temporarily available while we work to bring a few of the legacy features to our new apps.” how is that in any way different from what I said? url https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote temporarily available is in no way a reassuring statement to their users is it. That’s pull the plug at any moment. This is the original statement that is still their only statement, up on the internet, that I find appalling under these exceptional circumstances. I do not find this reassuring in my wildest imagination. key words if they need pointing out: “temporarily available” and “a few of the legacy features”. what could make that statement worse?
  7. I 100% agree, I simply can’t understand the company treating it’s paying users like this, it’s absolutely disgusting threatening us like this. At any time (of their choosing) they are saying they will cut us off from our own data. Can’t they understand how upsetting that is? I’ve spent 10 years putting my most important data into their previously excellent app and now this! It’s shocking.
  8. We care about your data, the actual users of Evernote classic, but new Evernote have proven by their total lack of feedback to this shocking terrible “upgrade” they don’t care one jot for your or my data. We are just tiny numbers in their bigger picture that count for literally nothing. I feel betrayed and de-valued, stupid of me I suppose to think for one second I was important as one of their long term paying customers. Their silence is deafening. Version 10 is unusable and they glibly say they will no longer support the classic version any time soon, then what will we do?
  9. I’m very sorry to say but that’s 100% right, unbelievably the new Evernote 10 is quite literally unusable. I say it again, don’t they even use their own app? Could it be that their version isn’t slow because their data centre is around the corner? Oh and by the way when I say slow, just in case there was any confusion, I mean too slow to use in any way shape or form.
  10. I am experiencing this level of slowness as well in Evernote. Ithe new version is simply unusable. open the program I have to wait over a minute for it to load, click on a notebook, 40, to 60 seconds to refresh the screen is typical. It’s unbelievably slow and therefore completely unusable. I loaded the new Evernote on my 2019 iMac. I kept the Classic Evernote on my 11 year old iMac and it’s pretty much instant on this much older, much lower spec machine. The contrast is night and day! Don’t these people working for Evernote use their own product? If I were them I’d take a long walk and question what I was trying to achieve, cause this ain’t working.
  11. I simply cannot understand your statement, what on earth is there to be excited about? Please explain how a truly awful “upgrade” to a formally brilliant app is exciting, how utterly destroying perfectly good workflows and complete disregard for existing users is a good thing and exciting?
  12. What on earth does “it is what it is” mean? It is a load of rubbish, a badly written unusable bit of software, not a pale shadow of its former self it it.
  13. The point is none of us know when Evernote will pull the plug on Evernote Classic, that’s the problem, they could kill it without notice today, break the sync and we’re done.
  14. It’s really funny isn’t it that for years the best work around for this missing vital feature is to simply use one of many competitors products that actually do scanning the way the user wants. I scan in apple notes for instance in order to get scanned .pdf files into Evernote. Add that to the long list of missing features, at least this one was carried over from the Classic Evernote, that couldn’t do it either.
  15. Thank you, I brought this up in the beta program, and I think you are spot on, they don’t seem to care a jot about number of clicks, amount of pointless mouse movement up and down, left and right, all across the screen, for the simplest of tasks or efficiency of workflow. All very very frustrating. It’s like they can’t type so have ignored the keyboard entirely, it’s almost like the classic Evernote never existed. The new owners don’t seem to realise what a great classic, efficient, usable program they inherited looking at this sorry excuse for a so called Upgrade.
  16. Thank you Notejoy sounds very interesting, being able to email into it is critical for me, so few alternatives to Evernote cover that. I’m going to give it a serious look and keep my fingers crossed it’s the answer.
  17. That is absolutely crazy. All apps of every kind need to refresh the screen automatically to show the current selection, without exception.
  18. Yes I agree Mike P, I'm sure that anyone using Evernote (98+%) not using tags simply don't understand how valuable, powerful and easy to use they are. It should be a feature they are pushing, not minimising, talking down and making them harder to use. I heard that a certain chap who's first name begins with "I" in the company doesn't actually use tags himself and has only been in the company just over 2 years anyway. Sometimes fresh eyes aren't what's needed but instead some experience and knowledge of your own product, plus some respect for your users that actually know how to use it. I never thought of myself as a power user, I know I'm not, but Wow I didn't think I was in the 2% that knows that tags are a good thing.
  19. Yes Evernote is missing 35 keyboard shortcuts, some essential to a good workflow. They simply don’t seem to understand their own product. Boggles the mind.
  20. This new Program that they have released is so different and so poor that to me it is Evernote in name only. On the desktop this app is totally unusable to me, when I start it the first time it always hangs (10.1.7) so I have to force quit it and the second time it actually starts, it so slow it’s impossible to use productively. It has 35 missing keyboard shortcuts, some of them essential to a good workflow, the tags are worse, harder to organise, the sync is unreliable. I can’t be bothered to list everything wrong, there’s just too much. Plus the threat to stop the Classic “working version” on the Evernote web site is simply dismaying. This is no way to treat people. It's like they don't use their own product.
  21. I also experienced syncing problems, a couple of important notes that were created on my computer failed to sync when I needed them so I lost out on an opportunity because of that, I needed the information with me on my phone but no, the notes didn’t appear on my phone until the evening. Version 10 iOS and Version 10 MacOS
