  1. Coming soon, good news but: Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Mac - CMD+J) Please remember this isn't a keyboard shortcut if after I type CMD+J "I have to then take my hand off the keyboard" in order to grab the mouse, move the mouse down and click on the found item, just like I have to now in so much more of the interface in Evernote 10. Keys only please as in Evernote 7.14 and below, I just want to have to hit the return key please. This keyboard shortcut will be utterly pointless if I have to then use the mouse.
  2. Yes to me the new Mac app feels exactly like a web browser tricked to look like an app. It’s so close to the old web interface. and sooooo slooooow. The screen refresh is the worst I’ve ever seen in any app.
  3. I couldn’t agree more, such inefficient workflow now, mouse, keyboard, mouse, keyboard etc drives me crazy.
  4. This is extremely worrying if that runs out to be true. How many more things are people going to find wrong with the new Evernote? only two days ago I had the first instance of Evernote corrupting a PDF after annotating it. This never happened before in over 10 years of use, on version 10.0.10 it happened on the second day. Evernote heard about this and reached out to me to help see what happened but then disappeared and stopped contacting me. The pdf file was only 1.5meg though.
  5. Not only has it gone but Evernote are touting it as a feature that they are going to add on the App Store, as if it wasn’t already there before the (upgrade) hows that for adding insult to injury. At least this is one feature that sound like it’s coming back some time, there are many more crucial for my workflow that I’m sure will not.
  6. This is very good news that some of the missing features are on their way back. The iOS version update was so good I stupidly assumed the MacOS version would be so as well but my workflows have been destroyed, because I can type. I like keyboard shortcuts and most of them have gone. I do hope this isn't going to be a too painful drip feed of them one at a time over many months, if I'm lucky at all. CMD-J for instance is/was really great but now that's gone. How long before that's back? Oh and this is very important, I don't want CMD-J back only to have to take my hand off the keyboard and move the mouse and then click the mouse in order to select my found preference, like in much of the current interface. I just want to it return when the item I looked for is found. I have a long list of things I'm missing like a lot of users going by these forums so lets all keep our fingers crossed and hope someone is listening.
  7. CMD+J is vital to my workflow. I'm not what I would call a power-user but I have paid the full subscription for 10 years + and I'm finding this new version and the threat to take away the old version very hard to deal with, simply because I've relied on Evernote for so many years and now I feel let down I'm very sorry to say. I, like many many other users have put in as many hours on this program as any developer, I've saved the last 10 years of my life in here so that's why I'm passionate about this fab program. It's the not knowing that's a big part of this. They must know themselves that what they've released is really an iOS port for the web and not a fully fledged desktop version as the previous one was. I just want them to say, or at least give an indication to their many long term users what they are going to re-instate, if anything. If nothing I don't know how I can live with this new version for very much longer. I don't want to move to something else because I'd grown to love evernote but wow, this is hard for anyone that actually uses the program seriously. I have downgraded to 7.14 on my main computer but have kept the (beta:) on another computer and check it each day to see if anything has been fixed, it's on 10.0.10 at the moment and nothing, nothing I want has been re-instated, Keyboard commands are vital to a serious workflow for instance, other user interface problems abound but just please give me a usable workflow back.
  8. Thank you Paul, that makes sense, It's such a pity that it appears that they have sacrificed such an important interaction with the program, no other program that I know of works that way for good reason. I suppose it has something to do with this removal of your own data off your own computer which again if true I'm finding hard to believe. Is it true?. Can it be true that they've moved all my data for evernote into the cloud and what's why we have such long delays in window re-freshes now, many seconds long, on one re-fresh where I just clicked on a tag I had to wait 7 seconds, I started counting them because I couldn't believe it. In the past it's instant as we all know. Have they really moved the whole database on line without telling anyone up front? This is what I'm hearing off other posts, if so, which I'm suspecting what a terrible way to find out. Update, here's another one, I just clicked on one of my tags "rates" and it took the screen so long to update (around 8 seconds) I took this screenshot of what I was seeing in that time. There's far more wrong with this program than missing features. Note the un-named notebooks on the left, they of course do have names but they didn't re-fresh, they look like missing teeth, which is funny because they feel like missing teeth to me. (Because like thousands of users I've invested many years building this databases and don't like to see my data being treated like this). Oh in case anyone thought that it was my internet connection, these are my connection speeds: ping: 14ms Download: 149.93Mbps Upload 21.16Mbps which I believe is quite good.
  9. Hi Taylor, That's my biggest miss of the new evernote CMD-J such a brilliant thing when I was told this tip, I didn't look back. But you can roll back if you want, I did on one computer, re-loaded 7.14 and kept the new version on the other computer, just in case they fix all these problems and start adding these essential features back. It's like live beta testing. Evernote users live in such interesting times. How to roll back youtube video link: https://tinyurl.com/yycbyqba Here's the link on how to go back and install the older version: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314 This guy makes a living out of evernote and he's just said in this video that evernote are releasing beta level software to the public.
  10. That can’t be an interface design choice, (no screen refresh) that’s how people search for their stuff! You have to (see your stuff or you can’t search) what’s the point if you can’t see it, No email program has ever worked like that for good reason (would you use it if it did) and no version of Evernote (until now) ever worked like that, so it’s not an improvement, a design choice for performance reasons. How that behaviour (no screen refresh) is an improvement please, (until you hit the enter key). I can’t see any advantage, it’s quite the opposite. Am I really expected to hit the enter key and then the down arrow hundreds of times a day just to see my note contents and not just the titles? Madness. This is a little bit ironic because there are other areas of the new interface where hitting the return key does absolutely nothing when it should, like trying to select a notebook. You are forced to take your hand off the keyboard and use the mouse to double click on a notebook in a list of 1 in order to select it, even though you’ve just narrowed the search down to just 1 notebook! using the keyboard already. Surely just hitting the enter key at that point would’ve been the right way to go, it works with tags on some screens but not notebooks? That conversation is for another post. I don’t want to criticise, I want to be constructive, I want a clear two way conversation so in case I’m missing something or simply not understanding a new more efficient workflow I can learn, I don't think this is an example of that. I think the iOS implementation is really a massive improvement over the old, apart from sync issues I'm having at the moment. (Basic). (Back end fixed?) but the MacOS Evernote seems to have been written for a touch interface, just like iOS and has ignored the accepted interface design conventions that make it usable on a computer. Evernote is, was, a wonderful product that might just need a few tweaks to make it even better.
  11. If you go up and down in the note list using the arrow keys the note doesn't refresh in the (as I was typing this I got this error message below and half the text I typed into this note disappeared): I'll start again, If you click on All Notes in the list on the left and it displays all notes and then use the arrow keys to go up and down in that list the note on the lists right does not re-fresh but instead stays the same, displaying only the first note, no matter how far you scroll with the arrow keys on the other notes, It only refreshes if you deliberately click on one of the notes in the list on the left and only then correctly displaying the contents of the note.
  12. Thank you Nick, I love Evernote and I've never seen this happen before in over 10 years so to say it worried me is a little of an understatement because it was within a very short time of using 10.0.10 I'm experiencing a number of issues and missing some (to me) vital to my work flow, keyboard shortcuts, plus some odd user interface choices.
  13. I'm getting more problems every day, sorry, The latest, if I click on a particular tag in the favourites bar on my Mac it say 163 notes but in iOS if I tap on the same tag in the favourites it only shows 128 notes. Oh my goodness, this is so frustrating. I've double checked what I'm doing and I'm sure it's not user error. It's the same tag. This list of things wrong is getting very long indeed, If only I had somewhere to reliable store it. I absolutely love Evernote and so I'm hoping that all these things will eventually get sorted out for both iOS & MacOS. (Update) around an hour later the correct number of notes now displays. Both Computer and my iPhone had full working internet access throughout all the time they did not sync and both evernotes had been opened and closed several times to try and force a sync as that option is no longer available in the apps. Basically they didn't sync for nearly an hour and I don't know why. Never happened before like that before 10 (Update 2) I just watched a youtube video and the chap actually recommends you "Force Quit" evernote for iPad in order to get it to sync. Enough said, I suppose that applies to iPhone and possibly to the mac, who knows.
  14. I'm 100% behind you, so many things that are missing it's hard to come to terms with.
  15. Okay, this is getting much worse: 10/10/2020 @ 14:45 I tried annotating a perfectly good, completely working, non corrupt .pdf file in Evernote 10 and after I had hit save, instead of being able to display the .pdf, it showed this graphic below instead reading: "Couldn't display this PDF file". Why on earth? I subsequently found out it actually destroyed the original .pdf file !!!, no going back to it. What on earth is going on here. Evernote 10 for Mac is not fit for purpose. I am not happy with Evernote 10 for Mac to say the least. The top screenshot is from Evernote 10 after making a very minor annotation to a .pdf file. As you can see I can no longer look at it. So I opened the note again and double clicked on the enclosed .pdf file image and found out after it tried to open it in Preview and failed, that I'm now being told by preview that the file is damaged. Damaged by Evernote! This is shocking. Have I lost trust in Evernote looking after my files. This had better not happen again. What more do I need to say, I am forced to start looking around for alternatives and I've been a paid customer for over 10 years. Things like this simply can't happen, my data is too important to me. It's even implied by Evernote that the older versions will stop working (at some point) so then what will we do. I simply can't afford to use this version. I have really enjoyed using Evernote for the last 10 years, recommended it many many times and suddenly this update to 10 for Mac after a very long wait as you all know, is shockingly bad is so many ways, I can't recommend this. I'm so glad they sorted out their back end, it's the front end that I'm worried about, the bit all their users use every single day, for the last 10+ years, taking care of my most important data. It's a trust thing.
  16. I'm afraid I agree with this about being very careful upgrading. I've just had to download the old version again 7.14 because I jumped too soon "Command J" to version 10. I use the keyboard a lot to speed things up navigating my computer, Evernote, (Older Version 7.14) and stupidly assumed that the keyboard commands would mostly be the same. I wasn't expecting them all to be the same but this is verging on a total absence in the new version. It's like trying to run and being tripped up all the time without proper keyboard shortcuts. (Hands on keyboard, hand on mouse, hand back on keyboard, hand back on mouse). It's a total pain to have to continually swap between keyboard and mouse in order to do the simplest of things that could be done just on the keyboard before. Version 10 is missing too many keyboard commands and that's just no good for me. I used "Command J" all the time for instance, it really increased the speed of my workflow. Loved it when I found out about it. Now it's gone, amongst many others, and I can't understand why. I was on the beta program a short time (left because I simply couldn't use evernote without the main keyboard commands, there were other serious usablility issues that I'm amazed to see persist in the public release version that didn't help, I won't talk about them here) I noticed that almost all of the keyboard commands that I used were missing and reported this. I don't know why but this was not fixed before release of version 10 to the public. Incredibly there are 35 keyboard shortcuts missing from this new version and that cripples me 35!, I didn't know that many. Here's the link to the keyboard command difference between old and new versions, count them and see if there are any you used to use: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313358-Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Evernote-for-Mac I've been a paid user for over 10 years. This makes me feel very uneasy. I don't want to start looking around for an alternative but I could be forced to do so if this isn't addressed. I really liked the iOS update, really great, massive improvement but this MacOS update is the opposite (for now). I'm crossing my fingers. Help me Evernote you're my only hope, I don't want to "Command J"
  17. Dear PinkElephant, That appeared to be what the problem was thank you, I didn't know the two shared note folders, Ron's Evernote Tips (10) and Evernote Users (7) weren't on my iPhone so when the single sync problem occurred with that one file I looked for other problems as well and saw the discrepancy in note count and worried that there was much more wrong. As you said this was in fact these two notebooks added together on my iMac (17) accounted for the difference in the note count exactly. (17) so that's great and thank you for the other tips about the opt/alt key before help & the opt/alt and shift key before clicking on the sync wheel. Much appreciated.
  18. Thank you PinkElephant for your help and advice. I'll have a close look to see if this is what's happening. Regards Bsoan
  19. Hi I've never had this happen before but now I'm having trouble syncing. On my Mac it shows that I have 10,475 notes when I view all notes but On my iPhone Evernote 10.0.2 it shows that I only have 10,458 notes when I view all notes. + yesterday when I scanned an important document on my iPhone in evernote "Scan a document" it never synced at all. (Car Insurance). So I deleted Evernote iOS off my iPhone but the problem persists when I re-load it, there's this large discrepancy between the note numbers. Any ideas please anyone as to what's wrong? Thank you.
  20. Hi, I'm sorry, been using Evernote for ages but can't find the tags on my iPhone Evernote for IOS. I've been told this is the way to go now "Tags" and not Notebooks but for some reason can't find them in Evernote IOS for iPhone
