  1. Penultimate is an aged app. It has been withdrawn from the AppStore. You can only use it (but not for much longer) if you already have it installed. But you can’t get it if you didn’t have it installed from before it was removed. I think it will stop working at all soon. There are better handwriting options. Noteshelf is able to sync with EN, but got some mixed reviews here n the Forum. I personally use GoodNotes.
  2. As said the Forum is driven by an independent provider contracted by EN to run this place. They have their own support and forum: https://invisioncommunity.com EN support is here, but expect quite a long reaction time. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  3. Could you explain why you hijack a thread, instead of opening your own ? If you read into the posts in this thread, you see it has only a remote connection to your question. So stop posting where it doesn’t belong.
  4. I wouldn’t say so. What is important (especially for the devs) is whether a bug can be reproduced. Even if circumstances are rare, if they can be set up again to reproduce the bug, it can be tracked. This is not always the case. Last summer I had a situation where the import folder produced a string of new notes from the folders content, without stopping. Everything had already been imported, it was all duplicating. OK, first thing was to stop this, so I quit the client. Thought about it, and opened it again. No chance - nothing happened, I couldn’t force it to repeat. I dropped a ticket with the activity log (back then when support sort of worked …), but it ended up without being fixed. Probably a handler between the OS and EN had got stuck. The first order to catch a bug: Force it to show again.
  5. The forum is running on an independent platform. What is important is your status in the account information, and this seems OK. We see such reports from time to time, regarding the forum badge. You could try to log out of the forum, close the browser, delete the pages cookies, and then quit the browser. Open it again, open the forum and log back in.
  6. EN lists / listed the certified experts on their website. This still exists, but only in the help segment of the EN website. The listed experts run their own homepage, either as freelancers or to their consulting business. EN links to these pages. Probably EN wanted to learn in advance whom they listed.
  7. From my understanding the idea was to build a network of certified experts who can help users to set up their EN account for their use cases. I think beside some individuals the main target group were clients with an EN Teams subscription.
  8. You can view the note location in note info on the mobile client. Only notes created on mobile, with GPS turned on and EN allowed to use the location data carry location information anyhow. You can add location data yourself, if you want to. Search for location data is possible on all clients using the advanced search syntax.
  9. Wrong assumption: Support is not politely silent on your ticket, support is simply inundated and needs a way too long time to respond. My own ticket on the partially missing content in offline situations is probably a bit older than yours, has been answered and is reportedly currently with the devs under review. Beside this v10 works nicely for me - I couldn’t imagine going back to legacy. Beside this Legacy Mac is entirely broken if used with newer MacOS - Apple has removed some outdated plugins on which legacy relied. It only shows in a very narrow window, and pdf files will not render.
  10. The current release cycle is burning the bridges behind itself. Backward compatibility is not kept over many cycles - among the v10 versions, those before 10.54 (plus/minus a few) are not able to sync any more already. Legacy was allowed to use the old, outdated API. EN converted the data formats on the server, with a drag to do. This is the main reason why syncing will be stopped in 3 weeks. The old API is not up to date any more, and it requires old code to run on the server. We have posts here to keep a legacy client running locally, strictly offline. I think this is technically possible, but entirely pointless. It can’t create new notes that can be used anywhere else, it can’t pick up content from other devices. And if the host computer fails, the legacy install is dead.
  11. It depends on the device and OS you use, and if it is the generic firewall of the OS or more advanced stuff, like the one that comes with an Internet Security Suite. The basic concept is that you blacklist the server to which an app connects, to stop any outgoing traffic. The details should be found in a Google search for the firewall used. To be able to access the local install you need to be logged in before the ultimate date, and before you block traffic by the firewall.
  12. This is a less than clear description of a syncing issue. You could start with telling which version is installed on which device, under which OS. The standard with v10 is that if you have the same note open on 2 devices, you can see your edits appear on the second while you type in the first, with maybe a few seconds of lag in between. New notes still need to sync, and how they do is slightly different when created on desktop to mobile to web. A better description could help to sort things out.
  13. There is nothing to retain. Imported notes are new notes, not the old ones that took a loop through an ENEX file. They have no note history, and the first action of their existence is to be created.
  14. If you upgraded from legacy, v10 uses a different database. The legacy database is of no use. It does not support several new data formats (like Tasks), and it doesn’t support Real Time Editing. In this case it will perform a full fresh install. If the legacy database is still on the drive, you can remove it. With v10 the database once build will continue even when the client updates. In some circumstances it can get corrupted - then erasing it and a full download from the server is the best way. But if you just upgraded, it needs to build itself, and will pick up speed after it’s done. Keep the client running (can be in the background) while it lasts.
  15. Personally I couldn’t care less. The new Free is meant as a trial only. If you want to try if it can count your notes, you may feel disappointed that it failed. If you tried to make it more than a trial, it’s not meant for that. Subscribe, and you don’t need to count beans and notes.
  16. If „the web clipper“ is meant, no. It clipped through the API. You could run it on a computer without having EN installed. I don’t recall a large version change in the web clipper (legacy vs. new). I think they continued their version count independently from the apps. What may be it that clipped content needs to be converted on the server to adapt it to v10 data structures.
  17. Recently = still downloading content from the server, converting and building the local database. Keep it running in the background whenever the PC is up. It improves in speed once the initial download is through.
  18. The Web Clipper takes a different path: It needs to extract the content from the website, wrap it and then send it through the API to create a note directly on the server. There it needs to be integrated into the account, and then synced to all devices. These are precursors to simultaneous editing of EXISTING notes.
  19. Which is exactly the intended consequence. You are beyond trying, and either you find enough value to subscribe, or will understand it is time to search for another solution. Nobody is worried about this outcome. There was a time where the sheer number of users was viewed as something to build on. EN and other companies found out that a large number of unpaid accounts without a significant conversion rate only means cost without income. Better have 1/10th of all accounts, but a solid income stream.
  20. We usually tell to not only switch the settings, but to toggle them, if necessary several times. Thanks for the confirmation.
  21. Do you read anything before you post ? Like the post right above yours ?
  22. You define the Import Folder(s) in the EN app settings. Can be more than one, each linked to another notebook. Every file you drop into the folder will appear as attachment to a newly created note. The file name will become the note title. Choosing „good“ file names avoids rework. A word of caution: In the past my import folder got unconnected a few times. Nothing is lost, there will just be no files imported. It seems that sometimes an app update removed the folder link. If you have multiple folders, it creates more of a hazzle then. I just reconnect my single folder, and within seconds the missing imports appear as new notes.
  23. Survive what - the exodus of 1% of the user base (assuming every legacy user leaves) ? We will help every fellow user with a sincere question. Not anybody will find his solution in the answers. If I were still on legacy, I would for sure not wait with my actions to see if EN will still be around on the 24th. Just as a reminder: Move your „local only“ notebooks (if any) to the server, or export them. Make sure everything is synced Download the v10-installer from the EN website and run it. Log in, wait a little the 1st time, check if everything looks OK. Let the app running in the background for a while, to allow the full download of your content. To completely uninstall any EN client, use Revo Uninstaller (PC) / AppCleaner (Mac).
  24. Doesn't happen to me, which in my case means 10.77.3 direct download on Sonoma 14.3.1.
  25. When I went back from v10 to legacy (back then, when I still had both installed), it just felt outdated and old. Like when opening an app that was new when Windows XP was the latest in tech. My opinion, anybody can have his own. The only view from legacy that I miss is the page listing all tags in several columns. I used it for my occasional tag housekeeping. I have expressed this in other postings, and with EN as well. That's it, with everything else I am more interested in what will be than what was.
