  1. It seems there is a fair amount of demand for the feature, and there are plenty of folks that work with code, not just professional developers. [1] https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/138343-can-evernote-support-code-syntax-highlighting/ [2] https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/145745-subject-request-for-code-block-color-formatting-feature-in-evernote/ [3] https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/104735-code-block-language-formatting/ [4] https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/44714-request-embed-code-snippets-with-auto-formatting-and-syntax-highlighting/ [5] https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/144086-multiline-code-block-in-numbered-and-bullet-list-must-needed-for-programing-notes/ Best wishes to the EN Devs. I know you have your orders.
  2. The case was so obvious\easy to make, GPT had no trouble making it. Funny. Automation! FTW Incidentally, GPT4 wrote, implemented, and tested code to do this for me with the prompt "write an algorithm for automatically detecting the code type and then highlighting computer code appropriately. you are supposed to know how to write and execute python code. please implement this as best you can" (attached for funzies. it's super basic, but works.) After having looked into how difficult (maybe 200h worst case) it would be to add code highlighting to EN, the only compelling reason I can imagine EN having for not implementing this is that they have too many fires to put out. I feel for the devs and whatever struggles they must be having. On a more personal note, AI won't take your job. Those who know how to use it will. 😀 @Syd Early, It even has some great options: I didn't come here for any the above though, that was all in levity. I came here because I have a solution now! It's a simple solution. Annoying though, screenshot and paste the text also. Works great, even though it's redundant. If EN is trying to save storage space, they'll implement it soon enough. Have a nice day folks 😁 Highlight.py
  3. The feature is indeed missing. I can no longer paste formatted text into Evernote. It strips the formatting. If I use the legacy app, it does still work, but that app constantly nags for updates and is no longer maintained. There even used to be a browser plugin that replaced this functionality but since Evernote switched to the electron framework, this kind of enhancement is no longer possible. If someone was actually able to make a successful browser plugin just for this one missing feature, it's probably not something Evernote should ignore. Coding skills are not limited to the tech industry. They are becoming increasingly valuable across various fields. Here are some professions outside the tech industry that use computer coding: 1. Digital Marketing: Digital marketers use coding for tasks such as web analytics, creating custom landing pages, and automating email marketing campaigns. 2. Finance and Accounting: Professionals in finance and accounting often use coding for financial modeling, data analysis, and automating repetitive tasks like report generation. 3. Biomedical Research: Researchers in the biomedical field may use coding for data analysis, image processing, and simulations in areas like genomics and medical imaging. 4. Astronomy and Astrophysics: Astronomers and astrophysicists use coding for data analysis, simulations of celestial phenomena, and image processing of astronomical data. 5. Environmental Science: Environmental scientists use coding for modeling and analyzing environmental data, climate modeling, and predicting ecological trends. 6. Market Research: Market researchers use coding to analyze large datasets, conduct sentiment analysis, and automate data collection from various sources. 7. Manufacturing and Engineering: Engineers in manufacturing and industrial settings use coding for process automation, quality control, and optimizing production systems. 8. Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Professionals in logistics and supply chain management use coding to optimize routes, inventory management, and demand forecasting. 9. Music Production: Musicians and audio engineers use coding to create custom audio effects, plugins, and software for music production. 10. Social Sciences: Researchers in fields like sociology, psychology, and political science use coding for data analysis, running experiments, and statistical modeling. 11. Education: Educators may use coding to develop educational software, interactive simulations, and tools for data-driven teaching and learning. 12. Art and Design: Artists and designers use coding for generative art, interactive installations, and creating custom design tools. 13. Law: Lawyers and legal professionals may use coding for document automation, legal research, and data analysis in areas like e-discovery. 14. Healthcare: Healthcare professionals use coding for electronic health records (EHR) management, medical image processing, and healthcare analytics. 15. Architecture: Architects use coding for parametric design, generating complex structures, and optimizing building performance. 16. Urban Planning: Urban planners use coding for simulating urban growth, traffic modeling, and analyzing spatial data. Coding skills can enhance efficiency, data analysis capabilities, and problem-solving in numerous professions, making them increasingly valuable across various industries. ...So while it may be true that Evernote is not planning to add them, or that you think they shouldn't, there is a much stronger business case for them adding it than what has been stated so far in this thread. Even MS Teams has code highlighting. Do you think that MS would put money, time, and effort into that if there wasn't a good business case? Not only have they maintained it but they have enhanced it from when the product first launched. It feels to me that Evernote is just making bad business decisions at this point.
  4. Fix the feedback functionality within the app, it's broken. It opens a browser, but that's it. It doesn't open it to any page. I'm using win11 22H2 Evernote JUST updated a minute ago to 10.60.4-win-ddl-public (20230803182206) Editor: v176.4.0 Service: v1.71.1 (thanks for making that copyable in the about menu. Pleasant surprise) On another note, thank you for fixing the way Evernote is a PITA about updates and making it update like teams and chrome do. I left that feedback a while back and it's gratifying to see it put into action. Many Tanks
  5. I mean, it would help if they would fix the existing feedback option. selecting that only opens an empty browser window. Attachment clarifies WHICH feedback option I'm referring to.
  6. Using feedback item under help, the browser opens, but no webpage is sent to it. Just a blank browser. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22621.1555] Evernote 10.59.5-win-ddl-public (5236)
  7. apparently that comment was deleted whilst I was writing this... I don't need revo. I have powershell. I took care of that and automated the process so that next time I need to uninstall, it's a single click. 8. Apparently today I'm a self-rescuing princess.... I was installing both EXE's in an elevated window as another user. I have elevated and "mortal" accounts. I normally use the elevated for running installs. When I do not elevate, the apps install and appear to coexist without taking a dump on my desktop. For an app that is largely targeted for enterprise use, I'd have thought they would have tested for this. I'll leave this here for the next poor soul that assumes that the app will install properly in an elevated context.
  9. I'm currently so frustrated that "Evernote-10.49.4-win-ddl-ga-3782-127ce42593-setup.exe" and "Evernote_6.25.3.9348.exe" are unable to coexist on my system at all. It appears that for some reason, if both are installed, the legacy app will start running (invoke) the new evernote app over and over, relentlessly, once it's executed. It makes the machine almost totally impossible to use and unless you have a terminal window open so that you can type taskkill /im evern* /f /t you don't have much hope of getting out of the loop. Every time the app is run, it steals focus, making it nearly impossible to do anything else with the computer. Incidentally, their co-installation causes some kind of file corruption, so if you uninstall the new client, the old one will not work even after uninstalled. I had to manually clean the app's leavings from the machine to get the install to work again. This is very disappointing and renews my interest in exporting everything and moving to OneNote even though it will doubtless be a pretty big lift. So painful! I'd love to have a resolution to this issue. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd prefer to just keep using Evernote if I can get the 2 versions to coexist.
  10. I'm having this issue. I'm guessing they're never going to fix it. One option you would have is to place the note into its own notebook and search that notebook. Terrible workaround, but workaround nonetheless. Edit: I didn't have the latest version, I had v6. V10 does have this feature and it works quite well. LOL
  11. Read only is nice, write only would be nicer, (add only)
  12. read only or even revision history. I understand revision history is a big ask though.
