  10. Apple Notes is not great for information storage and retrieval >>I dont do apple but may be convinced to carry an iphone if it works I find the phone screen size to small for note taking - I use a tablet (iPad with Apple Pencil)
  11. imho Evernote is the best service for information storage and retrieval There's an integrated note editor; ok for basic notes, but not great for note taking For note taking, I use the Notability app on my iPad. Sorry, I don't know of an Android/Windows equivalent I store the notes in Evernote in both pdf and native format >>and honestly I am not pulling anyone's leg. It is a REAL and serious request Why would anyone question your honesty
  12. Evernote supports two levels of organization for notebooks; Stacks > Notebooks For unlimited organization levels, Evernote supports Tags and hierarchy I merged your post with the ongoing request discussion
  13. Local Notebooks - data is not uploaded to the servers, it's only available on the device Offline Notebook - data is uploaded to the servers, and a copy is maintained on the device - data can be accessed when offline (not connected to the internet)
  14. Evernote is a cloud service - the master version of our notes is stored on the Evernote servers Use the web at www.evernote.com to verify your notes are there There's two self help tools for Evernote data on a Mac Trigger an index rebuild by holding down the option key and clicking Help > Troubleshooting > Recreate Index Trigger a full sync by holding down the shift and option keys, and clicking the sync icon
  15. Evernote Trash Deleting notes results in notes moved to Evernote Trash The notes are still using storage space
  16. The master version of your data is stored on the servers After syncing any outstanding notes; go ahead and delete/reinstall Evernote on your mobile devices The device storage is used for an offline copy of your data The default for mobile devices is no offline notebooks (low storage use) You can select specific notebooks for offline storage
  17. If this is a Mac, I'm guessing you're trying to click in the sidebar Switch to the Notebook page by clicking on the Notebook icon, or selecting View > Notebook
  18. This would be the Evernote Helper app In my use, clicking on "Save to Evernote" immediately creates a note in Evernote/desktop - there's little lag time Syncing to online and mobile is automatic and may take a little longer - minutes for me I can trigger a manual sync by clicking on the sync wheel I moved the discussion to the Mac forum
  19. You're welcome to indicate support for this request by using the vote button at the upper left corner There doesn't seem much user interest for this feature - only 38 votes
  20. Not clear what you mean by "independent Notebooks" I basically have a single notebook (Filing) and notebooks for special purposes like Offline I do have a problem if a note has multiple "special purposes"; I can only assign a single notebook
