  1. Hi. If you are using Evernote Clipper, you should be able to select the text you are trying to save and 'Clip Selection'. Evernote will not clip and show the contents of a video, but it should save a link to the video so you can watch it again if necessary. Hope that helps...
  2. If the new sidebar isn't working, try switching back to the previous version - see Settings for the option. You should also have the chance to give feedback on why you're changing back.
  3. ...And if this is a new account, it takes a little while for the 'share' feature to register and kick in - give it a couple of days and try again!
  4. Hi. It's not a silly question, because basically there's no current way to wrap text around an image in Evernote. You can force a layout by creating a table - a 2x2 table sets up a two-column layout, and 3x3 gives you a little more flexibility. Outside of Evernote, any word processor will give you proper document formatting - and you can attach your DOCX file (or whatever) to a note, so it's available wherever you can access Evernote.
  5. Hi. Are you complaining that Evernote does not have a dark mode at all, or just that it takes two taps to switch it on or off? How to enable dark mode in Evernote
  6. Hmmn. So this is the current 'standard view': ...and this is 'optimised readability' -which both look the same to me. If you switch back to the previous UI (available in Settings) a new note looks like this... - may be worth switching back until the new layout is finalised...
  7. And here too - - but both are a year or more old, and things seem to have quietened down since - or maybe people found work-arounds that were OK. If you're sharing with multiple (presumably business) users, it should be worth while for one of you to upgrade to Premium for at least a short while to get email and chat support. If you pay monthly it should be possible to downgrade again to Basic if you wish to do so.
  8. My point was that having any kind of document open in any browser for a long period of time is not safe. Content is easily lost. Browser extensions are available that remember your recent online activity for exactly that reason - lots of people see data go missing when internet connections drop, apps time out, wrong keys are pressed, or the computer has some sort of glitch. It's not a bug, it's a 'feature' of browser use. If your team use envisages that sort of situation, you may be better off with another app. You may also want to look into the installed version of the app rather than the web option - data is maintained in local storage, therefore doesn't tend to disappear.
  9. Hi. I've used Evernote to convert a small library of information into electronic copies, and I continue to use it every day. I'm up to 50,000 notes and growing (very slowly now). I don't think you'll get to 100,000 anytime soon. If that were to happen, it would be fairly easy to find and archive notes that have not been opened recently. If Evernote were ever likely to stop providing their service, I'm sure we would have more than enough time to choose a successor and import our notes into another application.
  10. Hi. Copying a note creates a new, independent copy of that note. Changing the tags in the copy will not affect the original - these are not the same note, one is just a single snapshot of the other note which you can change as necessary. The first note will stay the same.
  11. Hi. As you have found, working for any length of time in a web app can cause problems - I've lost replies I'm making in this forum before now. If you need to spend some hours working something out, it's far better to work in a local word-processor or spreadsheet and save the file regularly. When you've finished, save the work file as a note attachment so it's available to you on other devices if necessary. If the work you were doing was lost before it got to Evernote, I'm afraid it's probably unrecoverable. It's possible some part of it was saved back to the server, so you should be able to see that if you log in again. If there's nothing visible then again, it's unlikely that anything can be rescued. There is a 'note history' feature for subscribers which allows you to see previous versions of a note, but it sounds unlikely to be helpful in this case. What to do if content is missing from a note
  12. Hi. ...and where are you getting 'note width settings'? What version of Evernote is this?
  13. Hi. I'm slightly confused - are these notes created in your account and shared with others, or notes they have shared to you?
  14. Hi. As far as I know, the link cannot be changed, but it can be made a little more human-readable by creating a text link like this one (which leads back to this thread) or by using a link-shortener like Bit.ly - https://bit.ly/34Cj1Se also links back here.
  15. Hmmn. I can only suggest that as subscribers, you raise this with Support. They may or may not be aware of the issue, but your logs may help them to figure it out...
  16. On the general topic of tagging, it may help your colleague if they keep their own note of tag combinations used frequently in <tag1>, <tag2>, <tag3> style - copy and paste that whole string into a single tag field, and Evernote will assign it at separate tags. I'm using Workflowy as a tag index at the moment, because typing any tag name into the search box more or less instantly jumps me to that line in Workflowy, where I can choose which set of tags to assign from my library. It works for me....
  17. Hmmn. I hadn't looked at the link you posted until now. I see that they do say 'export to enex' if you don't have Evernote installed on the device where you need the import to happen. No clue why that would be, or whether the enex file should be of the whole account, or of individual notebooks. OneNote handles notebooks and tags differently from Evernote, so I'd guess it doesn't matter... but if you're copying your Evernote database into OneNote on the computer where you have Evernote installed, it doesn't even matter. Ignore ENEX files and just use the OneNote tool. On tagging - Organize with tags Referrals - How to refer a friend to Evernote The Plus account is no longer available to new users.
  18. I started subscribing a long time ago on the basis that if Evernote didn't make any money, this nice service would not exist. The fact that you don;t use the Premium extras is irrelevant. If you like using the service at all, it's wise to contribute so that you can continue to do so...
  19. Hi. "Authentication Failure" means your login details were incorrect. It seems unlikely that anyone would hack your account to close it down, but even if your account is deactivated, the content can still be retrieved. I'd suggest you try logging in again to see whether you can see your notes. This link includes the detail of how to reactivate an account if you need it - Deactivate your Evernote account
  20. Hi. There are several misconceptions here, so I'll try to unpack them in a logical order.... Onenote can (allegedly) import Evernote notes. I'd imagine that would either be from the .EXB folder on a hard drive, or from the server with your user name and password. No 'backups' necessary in this process. (Although it is a good idea to have a regular backup of your notes, just in case...) An ENEX file is a bespoke hybrid XHTML file that Evernote uses as a backup format. If you open an ENEX file and re-save it wrongly it will corrupt the information stored there. Do not mess with the ENEX files. If you export to ENEX, create one file for each notebook you have, and make sure that you check the 'options' to include tag information. If you import from ENEX you'll get a series of notes - a complete notebook - saved as a 'local notebook' in your Evernote database. If you want to export notes in a readable format, try HTML - you can open those files in any web browser.
  21. Aha! (as they say...) That particular message means the browser content is not meant to be copied by anyone - hence the clipper not working. There are probably ways around it - by taking a screen shot, or by highlighting and copying areas - but Clipper is simply complying with the security settings on that page.
  22. Hi. Where I'm showing multiple large images in a note I generally use a table to constrain the display to visible window width. Evernote automatically reduces the visible image size to fit each cell. Then, if I click on one image I get a 'gallery' view where I can scroll through each of my large images. That doesn't give me an individually scrollable image though - just a way to choose one picture from a set. To do more I'd have to open the file to annotate it or use an external viewer.
  23. OK I see where you got the link from - I believe there's supposed to be some coding magic built into it that will give you your note body if you're logged into the app, or open a browser if not; though I just tried a link from one of my notes and got the browser version...<confused>... If you check the browser address bar though, you'll see that the actual address shown has the 'shard' name included - the Ctrl+/ version goes through a redirect of some sort. It appears all of the above makes your notes public so anyone with the link is (supposedly) able to see them. As a possible option have you looked into Postach.io? It publishes a notebook from your account as a blog site with a constant URL of <notebookname>.postach.io and takes care of general formatting and indexing on the fly - just add a new note to your notebook with the tag 'published' and it appears online. Seems like a much simpler way of circulating your reviews...
  24. Hi. Why exactly are you trying to open your own note with a shareable link rather than the app? And how did you get the link, because my shared links look like this: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s2/sh/afa49f5b-fed2-43fd-aa15... etc
  25. Hi. You're adding to a 2-year old discussion. And it seems to me getting to Word is pretty easy these days - export to HTML and open the file with Word (or your word processor of choice) which (these days) should be pretty easy. Worst case copy and paste the content from Evernote or from a browser viewing that HTML file into your WP of choice. Easy and quick.
