  1. @Shane D. My experience of this issue is that it occurs if the app has been sitting in the background for a long period of time.... so say I’m using Evernote, I come out and do other things. Maybe a few hours later I go back in, the app is still in the background ram so doesn’t restart. At this stage sometimes sync works but sometimes it isn’t (seems the longer it’s in the background the more likely sync has stopped). At this point the app appears fine, I can switch notes etc but if I add content it is lost - because the app isn’t connected to the Evernote server. So if I enter data it looks like it’s fine, there is no sync notifications so I wouldn’t know if there was an issue. I only know it’s failing if I go to settings and click sync there, the app then crashes, and naturally the data is lost. So it seems to be a background thing, the longer the app sits in ram and in the background the more likely it comes to the foreground unable to connect to the server. If I am paying attention at this point I also notice that any additions I have made on other devices also do not download, but there have not always been changes elsewhere when I add content to the note. The big issue is there is no way to really know if it’s in this almost zombie like state until it’s too late, as it allows text to be added as normal and unlike the windows app which tells us data is being saved as we work there is no warning on iOS. ps it doesn’t seem to be an issue jumping in and out of the app when multitasking, it handles that fine in my experience. It seems to only if in ram for a long period of time in the background.
  2. This is somewhat annoying - when I scroll up in a note whilst editing it, the keyboard disappears and it comes out of edit mode. I then need to double click and it takes me back to where I was writing in the note. I scroll up on the note and it comes out of edit mode and I double click and it takes me back down.....I think you can see that this gets a little annoying. All I want to do is scroll up either to copy text or add to something based on my journal below and its not really possible. Is there a reason scrolling up causes this action? If so can we get an option to disable this behaviour please cause sometimes we just need to move around a note whilst editing it.
  3. Notebooks and pens...what are these things you speak of 😂 yeah, Evernote 10 has been an.....interesting development. No doubt lots of teething issues and bugs which are causing a lot of frustrations. I do think that this new foundation presents an opportunity for the product to develop which is only really to our benefit in the end. That’s why I’m trying to be patient, between that and when I try a new notes app it’s always missing something that I like, be it tags or good search or offline notes. Evernote is having issues right now but if it gets past these we might just get a good product.
  4. I personally would strongly suggest you persevered with Evernote, thats what I am doing. Apple notes is really handy and I use it, but its a feature where if you lost data I dont see them being too bothered, granted sadly we are having these here. I would say though if you plan doing any big work in Evernote open it from completely closed state, always be suspicious of it if you are pulling it from the background after its been there for a while - for now, i truly hope this gets resolved quickly. That’s my resolution, and when open from fresh I have had no problems with anything, its when I pull it from background state after a long period of time.
  5. Hey I cant claim this as my idea but i thought it really useful, we have reminders per note which i am slowly learning to use. It would be really handy to have reminders by checklist if thats possible, sometimes as I am writing a checklist different items will be due at different times and it would be super handy if that could be done in a note. I know I can get another app in addition but being able to do this in app would be really helpful.
  6. This is a bug I was encountering in the Beta program and I have both posted to support the issue (brick wall) and here (everytime a user posts it staff respond with astonishment like its a new issue). What I have learnt (not sure if you are having the same issue) is Evernote for ios is not doing well when left in the background. Normally, we use an app we hit home, we go back to the app when we need it, often its sitting in the memory waiting to go. Not quite waiting to go in Evernotes case, I have found if the app is left in the background for long periods when we open it (the app opens in an open state not with the Evernote logo etc like its reopening) it doesnt sync anymore. There is no clue, indication or anything that will tell you the data you are entering will be lost, it just takes in the data, we assume its syncing but its not, ultimately when the app refreshes all the data is completely lost and because its not been connecting to Evernote servers, the data is irretrievable. My only solution is dont leave evernote in the background on ios, double click or swipe up and close the app if you wont be using it for a while. I wish support would engage and acknowledge this issue, I have posted it here many times to try to help people avoid data loss, thats if its the same issue you are experiencing.
  7. You need to work out what spam means, spam isnt people sharing their options, it is most definitely posting the same message over and over and over and over and over again all over the forums.
  8. The guy should be banned, its so rude what he has done.
  9. No you spammed the entire forum, ruining threads and conversations on some ego trip to promote your own reddit.
  10. STOP spamming this forum! You have posted the exact same message in 5 threads now. This space is for people to discuss ideas, bugs and currently frustrations, please dont abuse it like this.
  11. Oft! The iOS ones lol! Nice to know you are still around all these years later! 😂
  12. This doesnt always work. I have frequently encountered issues where notes are not syncing. I pull down and think it works, then when i go to settings and sync and press that, the app crashes because somehow sync isnt working. Pull down doesnt show these failures for some reason.
  13. Oh it’s one I’m watching closely, I have so many in my device and when I see updates I’m in checking them out. Personally, until they have a proper wysiwyg editor, even if it’s markdown based, no issue with that! But until that’s there it’s not an option - and I know markdown but I’m writing notes to write, not code. I’ll keep watching and hopefully soon the iOS app leaps forward.
  14. Yeah this is my thinking too. I really like the windows app, its working so well for me and search found something based on two words that may have linked to something I vaguely remembered so I could share it with someone else, was really impressed with that! The iOS app as I said, - it’s got sync issues when brought from background for a long period back to foreground, it doesn’t sync at that point for me and data is lost. I just need to close the app before I use it again, it’s fine for short periods, even a few hours but much longer and it wont sync. So I wouldn’t say I really like that app yet lol, i would describe it as temperamental and it will be a while before I trust the iOS app.
  15. It’s not a web app from what I understand. I think this view is based on a hate of electron and a twisting of some of what Ian said. He said look at the web and it will give you and idea where we are going, it has for that look is being implemented elsewhere. He has recently said that each app has shared code but each will evolve in ways appropriate for the platform it’s used on so its not the case all are the web app. A lot of this seems to come from some people’s strong dislike of electron which is the JavaScript platform they have used to write the new apps. Some people despise this and because it’s Java they say it’s just a website, JavaScript is a language so it can be way more than a website. One thing I did was go to the electron website and see who is using it - everyone from Facebook to Microsoft, to the holy notion app and so many more! So a lot of companies are apparently getting it all wrong. Personally I’m waiting things out, the new apps work really well for me barring some iOS sync issues which I hope get sorted soon, I know workarounds for those so I can protect my data. The roll out has been in no way smooth, thats for sure, but I think the company is working hard. I feel it’s a little unfair to say the don’t engage well in this forum for much of the tone here wouldn’t get constructive engagement had they replied. Just my views - which will probably get me in trouble shortly 😂
  16. I have Joplin and love the theory of it, my notes on my platform, but the notes editor is prehistoric. And the new beta one is somehow worse, a split screen with one side code and the other what it looks like....it should be wysiwyg and I can’t take it seriously when it can’t get basic things like that simply executed. It’s still an app for markdown folks, not general public sadly. Which is a shame because it could be awesome if it did the basics properly.
  17. If they add this I hope it can be disabled. I cant stand notions faff approach to everything. It’s different things for different folks I guess but the option to make notes pretty with zero actual data functionality doesn’t appeal to me.
  18. I have found this too, I have a few test notes in Numbus on an iPad Pro and each takes at least three seconds to open, even if I click one to the other and back it’s three seconds each time. I though the Evernote app was slow but it’s around a second, two when it’s playing up. And these notes I’m testing, no images, just a few sentences and some tick boxes.
  19. Yeah, I know, cause I would be one of the first to do it lol! But, if they want basic to pay, there needs to be something closer to their actual needs, considering the 60mb etc restrictions that costs around half of premium. When you consider the price of office and what you get there for the subscription Evernote premium is costly in comparison.
  20. I think I echo a lot of the users here in that if we are using it on more than two devices we probably are getting a fair bit of use out of it and paying our way isn’t an unreasonable expectation. I would strongly urge them to bring back a plus tier, even it if had device restrictions to 3 or 5 or something. The difference between basic and premium is crazy high in upload and storage etc.
  21. I agree, I really like the new app and thankfully I’m having no issues with the windows app at all. I think the consistency across the board is a big step forward and it will be interesting to see how this develops.
  22. I wouldnt suggest buying a new iPad to resolve this, as even those with pros have raised this issue. On recent feedback from staff they seem to be aware of this and are working to resolve it. I would suggest giving it time and seeing if new updates resolve this.
  23. I’m having this issue too, tried support with it but they say they can’t recreate this issue which is astonishing as many have shared it on the forums. Only thing I have found is on iOS close the app, don’t leave it in the background cause sometimes when it comes back to the foreground it seems ok but it’s not syncing and data is lost.
  24. I think the article is good and adds some insight to some of the strong feelings here. Personally, I like the new apps, though the iOS one needs more stable sync, I’m still having real issues with that.
  25. Instead of dealing directly with my question they linked me to another companies forums as evidence of resolution.
