  1. An internal note table of contents would be a nice feature to have but does fly against the EN philosophy of (smallish) individual notes linked tgether by a table of contents/internal links or filing using tags or notebooks. Remember this has never been a feature of EN (legacy or V10) so if it is essential to your workflow, you chose the wrong tool. When I do have a longer note (which I avoid if I possibly can) I do something very similar ot @ghon 's suggestion above. Section titles with words separated by an underscore can be selected with a double click so I create section titles with a TOC at the top of the note. Navigation is then double click the section in the TOC Ctrl+F <enter> twice to go to the second occurence of the text (ie the section title at the top of the section)
  2. Well EN giveth and they taketh away. In 10.50.9 it seems that it is no longer possible to delete the image and for it to disappear from the thumbnail. i.e. the thumbnail image remains even if the image is no longer in the note.
  3. They should go to trash which you will find right at the bottom of the sidebar
  4. If you tab or shift tab in the web version you cycvle between different buttons and input fields. You'll eventually get to the search bar. Not really terribly useful unless you really hate using the mouse.
  5. If I want to widen my tags search to include all the sub-tags I can easily do that using the down arrow that appears in the tag lozenge in my search. A useful list of sub-tags also appears, to remind me what I am adding. It seems intuitive to me that I should be able to add a single subtag (or maybe a selection of sub-tags), rather than all of them, by simply clicking on it in the list. Sadly that functionality does not exist and I think would be a useful addition.
  6. You can do it in website version of EN in Chrome as it is a function of the browser.
  7. Why? If you really do have 5 tags you will see them all in the drop down below the search field. It obviously isn't a solution if you have more than 6 tags associated with the notes and want to see all of them. As I hope is clear from my post, I am keen to see the old behaviour returned. But until then, or maybe forever, we are stuck with the functionaility that EN have provided us with. If it doesn't work we need to very clearly say why, both in this forum (which they may read) and in direct feedback (which they will read).
  8. My solution above, which you seem to be just ignoring, works perfectly in your case where you have "5 tags" associated with the notes.
  9. I'm still confused. This is a screen shot from the Evernote personal in the Chrome browser. Looks pretty much the same as the desktop version. It's version 10.50.10 (click bottom left "Need a little help" and then "release notes". I can also copy and paste an image from a webpage or from a file on my computer into a note in the chrome web version of EN. This may be an issue with the browser but I'm definitely not an expert in that. If you are a paying member it may well be worth raising a support ticket as I don't believe the problem you have is a very general one.
  10. What version is this and on what platform? It certainly does not look like desktop version of V10, where highlighting is still an option.
  11. It is worth remembering that there is more than one way of filtering by tag. If you already have a selection of notes e.g by choosing a notebook, having already done a search or adding a tag you can open the search box again. The suggested items there are only relevant to the selected notes. The disadvantage is that only 6 tags are shown. If you remember the first letter of the tag, and type that in, it will further refine the suggested results. I agree that it would be great to be able to change the tag filter (e.g. options for listing only the relevant tags and listing with or without the hierarchy). In the mean time I find the main search can be quite helpful. And while we are on the subject of adding more tags, EN have still not reintroduced the ability to do this from the sidebar with shift+click
  12. This has been mentioned before. If the EN window is just minimised, or you have the icon pinned to the task bar, you can use Windows shortcuts to open it. So if EN is the fourth one along <Win>+4 opens it. If it's only the icon in the system tray than @Boot17's suggestions works well.
  13. Just to note that you can use a tag search with intitle if you want to revert to the title only behaviour of a simple text search. So this is my current understanding: plot | will search for notes with plot in the title "plot" | will search for notes with plot in the title or the body of the note tag:ggplot plot | will search for notes tagged with ggplot and with plot in the title or the body of the note tag:ggplot intitle:plot | will search for notes tagged with ggplot and with plot in the title t's possible that in example 2 and 3 it is only searching the main body of the note and not the title, but without creating some artificial notes it is difficult to test, as notes normally contain words from the title in the main text.
  14. At least it is now slightly easier to update the title of a text link by converting to a preview and back again. I still think that having the title preview box, as it is currently formatted, inline would look a mess as it is too tall to fit into a single line. It would need to be reformatted to fit into a single line of text. And then there are all the other non-text objects that can't be placed inline.
  15. I think there must be a limit to how many are displayed. Interestingly -tag:* brings up all of the small number of my notes that don't have tags but it doesn't seem to work if I add extra search words. It would be nice if this "new" search method was either identical to the normal search grammar or at the very least documented properly!
  16. I agree, as long as you put a single search term in the search field. However combining with a tag search or adding the search term in inverted commas gives results where the search word is in the body of the note. I guess we will find strategies that work for us to find the note we are looking for.
  17. This is consistent with all other non-text objects - attachments, pictures, google links, youtube previews etc, so I can't see it changing. It would mess up the line spacing so personally I'm content to use a text link if I want it inline.
  18. I've never found the * character to give me the results I expect and I'm not sure it is part fo the search syntax. If I search for tag:*English I get no results I also get no results for tag:*mar ie it doesn't find the tag called grammar As soon as you put in a space you add a new search term. So tag:English English will search for those notes containing the tag English which also contain the word English. As far as I can see, the search seems to be working exactly as the normal search works which is what I would hope and expect.
  19. Thats not my expereince. I have a tag called "English". A normal search for English brings up many many possible notes. tag:English brings up only the 7 tagged with English. The behaviour of the arrow keys and PgUp and PgDn does seem to be strange. If I < tab> to get into the list, I find that I can move down through the list using <tab> again and <shift><tab> to come up
  20. shift + double click on the green header works for me!
  21. No, it's a main release. Just go to the website and download it from there.
  22. This is definitely a step forward. When you hit "select note" you can either search for text or browse through notebooks. However, early testing suggests that advanced search formatting works - certainly for tags. So if yoiu don't remember the title but want to browse through a tag you can use tag:tag_name in the search field.
  23. Sorry, I can't replicate this. If the screen is locked into portrait on the device, then it is locked in EN.
  24. Yes. I recently got a new computer, which runs Windows 11, and I now have the issue which I never had with Windows 10.
