  1. also, Tools/Settings/Application, and click on the radio button, "resume where I left off." Vinnie
  2. Well, let's agree to disagree. I don't believe I am stupid for paying the full retail price. MY point is that making a blanket statement like "It is stupid..." without any qualification or recognition that others may have a different opinion is, in my opinion (notice the qualification there?) rude. And, also in my opinion, it decreases the enjoyment of sharing tips and experiences with other users here. Vinnie
  3. Nope, @chilee, you likely don't have the latest - the automatic updates are always behind. Check version number: Help/about. You will likely see it's not 10.83.5. Usually I just wait for the auto updater myself. But if I were having an issue like the lag with larger notes (I'm not, fortunately...) I would go to Evernote.com and download the latest version, to see if Evernote has managed to fix the bug. So, I'd suggest downloading the current version and see what happens. Vinnie
  4. RE sync to Android: I have two ph ones. One is a Pixel 6 that I use with my US account which runs on Google Fi. The other is an older Doogee rugged phone which I use in Mexico with Telmex as the provider. I also have a three year old Samsung tablet. Evernote's performance on these three devices is wildly different. The Pixel 6 just works. (It didn't used to - it used to be very slow to sync, but now it is good enough that I don't notice any issues.) With the Doogee phone, I found I need to tell it to sync. Then, in a minute or so, my content shows up. With the Samsung tablet, I tell it to sync and go have breakfast. Sometimes - not always - it is done syncing by the time I rinse out my cereal bowl. My conclusion: Evernote performance varies wildly depending on your particular device. It has gotten much better overall, but it's still slow on older devices, at least for me. Vinnie
  5. And, might I add, @MvdH, you write those reports in a respectful manner, which we could use a lot more of around here! Thanks for that. Vinnie
  6. Excuse me, and respectfully, this is rather rude... I pay full price and I am not stupid. My time is valuable. Stupid would be wasting what would otherwise be billable time, each hour of which generates more than the entire annual cost of the Evernote subscription, trying to get a discount that would net me less than a half hour's revenue. Not only that, having Evernote increases my productivity which translates into direct revenue for me. It seems to me only fair that I pay the full price for their product, one of the tools that allows me to generate full price for my product. Vinnie
  7. @MvdH Here's a link to a video by Federico on plans... He comments on RENT late in the video. Vinnie
  8. Thanks to @s2sailor for pointing this out. I was unaware. Also, shft-alt-m is the keyboard shortcut on the Windows client that does the same thing for folks who prefer to keep their fingers on the keyboard. Vinnie
  9. Also look for YouTube videos or online articles by Vlad Campos, Stacey Harmon, John Tromans (Taming the Trunk) and others. Just make sure that the materials you're looking at are for Version 10 and not Legacy. Vinnie
  10. Also, for backups, there are lots of posts on the forum about the Github project that does just this. I don't use it so I can't offer any specific advice, but it should be pretty easy to find post about it. Vinnie
  11. Okay, thanks for the clarification. Let's see if you hear from others, but I think you likely need support. I haven't seen a flurry of reports from others about this, which is what I would expect if there were a widespread issue with converting Legacy to v10. Maybe clever use of a text expander program or "find and replace" could help you manually make the edits if that becomes necessary? Vinnie
  12. @promosinc, for what it's worth, I run Evernote on a Pixel 6 and it works fine. Vinnie
  13. If you log onto your account through the website using a browser, www.evernote.com, do you still see the problem? That's what I mean by the web client. Vinnie
  14. Someone more expert than I am will likely stop by. Meanwhile, while you're waiting... since you refer to "staff," are you on Teams? There are very few Teams users who come by here, so that could be a challenge. Also, it's always helpful for knowledgeable folks here who might be able to help to know what version of operating system you're on and what version of Evernote - the actual version number, not just "I'm on the latest version." Are you seeing the same thing on the web client? The web client gives you what is essentially a direct line to what is stored on Evernote's server. If the web version is correct, the problem is likely with the client or file sync. If the web version is wrong, you will likely need support. Finally, I vaguely remember a post or two where signing in and out helped with a problem like this. Note that signing out is different from just quitting, so make sure you are actually signing out. Vinnie
  15. Yes, I added yet another user to the ignore list a couple of minutes ago. Makes for a much better, peaceful and efficient!, viewing experience!
  16. Maybe try signing out of Evernote and logging back in again. Important: logging out is different from quitting. Do it from the account menu on your Windows client. Vinnie
  17. My inexpert understanding is that Evernote does the conversion from Legacy to the new format when you open the note for the first time in v10. It doesn't convert legacy notes until you need them. I'm not sure that the number of notes is a factor with note conversion. It could be a factor, though, if you have recently installed v10. In that case, Evernote and your local client are busy mirroring your database from the server to the client in whatever format, old or new, the notes exist in. So, if that download hasn't completed, all of that activity can be slowing things down when Evernote >also and simultaneously< needs to convert a legacy note to the new format when you open it for the first time in v10. Vinnie
  18. Which one? I think it's important to use the app that @PinkElephant has recommended, if not in this thread, in numerous others. Other apps don't seem to give as reliable results in removing and reinstalling local databases. But the problem may also have something to do with collapsable bullets, so the best approach may be to wait a few days and see if an update becomes available to fix it. But, disclaimer - I'm not a mac guy, so I'm just passing along what I've seen in other threads. Vinnie
  19. You can turn off the option to display the / menu in the "three dot" menu in the upper left of the note window. You must have the latest version of the client installed. Vinnie
  20. Sorry I ran out of ideas! Good luck with your new workflows! Vinnie
  21. Sorry it didn't work. I can't help with MAC stuff since I've always been on Windows. I notice that way up in the thread, @PinkElephant mentioned that you might be on a version downloaded from the Apple store. Did you ever try a version downloaded directly from the Evernote website? That's the last thought I have... Vinnie
  22. Congrats on finding a solution that works for you! (And thank you for not trying to burn the barn down on your way out! 😁) Vinnie
  23. Thank you for the gracious note. I understand the frustration of needing to actually get things done and then not having tools work the way you think they should. Not just software, BTW -- nothing like having parts of my motorcycle scattered in pieces on the garage floor and then my ratchet gives up the ghost! I save scans to my import folder regularly without issue. My setup is different, but here's how it works for me. I use the scanner on an HP all-in-one printer. I do not use the HP software. Instead, I use NAPS2, which is a free, open source scanning tool available for Windows and Mac. Like what you describe, I scan and the program builds a file. I click on the "save as pdf" option, and direct it to my Evernote import folder. A few seconds later, the file is in a new note in Evernote. No duplicates. The one time I had duplication was when I had my laptop open with Evernote running and my desktop open with Evernote running too. Then I got a duplicate. I think the issue is that Microsoft Onedrive saw the file show up in my Desktop Evernote import folder, and then mirrored it to the Evernote import folder on my laptop a second later. Evernote saw what looked like a new file show up in my laptop import folder, and dutifully put that file in a new Evernote note as well. A second later, with real time sync running, I had a duplicate note. I guess, at the end of all of this, my suggestion is to look at NAPS2 and see if that will meet your needs and work around your problem. Vinnie
  24. I'm pretty sure it's Mac, too, @richot, but I'm not a mac person. If you check back in a bit, I'm sure one of the Mac experts will be by to explain what's happening. And it could be that I've got it wrong and it's the next version, not the current one that will have the change - I'm on my laptop which is a version behind. But I'm pretty sure in my cobwebby brain that I saw something about the option being added. Sorry for sending you down a rathole. Vinnie Edit: okay, I found the reference. This is an excerpt from Jon Tromans' newsletter: "If the “Press "/" to insert an element” as been irritating you when using the slash commands, there’s a toggle in the 3 dots menu of the note editor to switch it off." Vinnie
