Search isn't working correctly
gazumped replied to Terrie's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Hopefully you're exporting individual notebooks. Exporting will filter out any corrupted data, so an import will be a 'cleaned up' version. But you'll lose any internal links and any incoming external links - new notes get new UIDs. Importing from an ENEX file also gives you a choice of where to put the new data - so you don't necessarily need to delete an original notebook before you replace it. You'll at least have a chance to verify that an imported notebook contains the same number of notes as the original. Beware though that you have an Upload Limit of 10GB per month - you're going to use up a lot of that with a complete account refresh. Also that re-syncing replaced notes is going to take time - it may take days for major changes to be correctly shown on the server and synced to other devices. You'll need to be patient with that. I'd suggest you raise this with Support before taking major action - they may be able to carry out some integrity checks on the server that will save you a lot of time, even if it takes a while for them to respond to your queries. -

Once you have your local backup complete, the way to re-download your database from the server and complete a clean reinstall is relatively simple... Sign out of Evernote and uncheck 'save my notes on this device' Uninstall with Appcleaner (Mac) or Revo Uninstaller Free (Windows) Power your device off and back on Re download the latest version from Evernote.com Reinstall - leave your system running for as long as possible to rebuild the search indexes and complete the local infrastructure. Takes about 20 minutes and the app is usable immediately, though maybe slow for a few hours... -
Cannot open local file link
gazumped replied to engr79's topic in Evernote for Mac Issues (Versions 10.0 and above)
Hmmn. We now have 10.77.3 so a download from Evernote.com may help... but my system is still opening local links without any issues. Maybe a restart or an uninstall with Appcleaner and reinstall? -

How to really, really annoy a support team... I flagged your ticket number, though I'm sure they're dealing with tickets and refund requests as quickly as they can... -

Which is better, web or desktop version?
gazumped replied to Rad_Boy's topic in Evernote General Discussions
I work mostly in the installed desktop app (Win11 & 10.77.3) but on occasion (usually for queries like this) I open the web app - which seems fine to me. "Unresponsive" means the browser is having issues, but I use Thorium (the browser, not the nuclear stuff) which is a chrome clone and I've seen nothing like that. Edge by the way is also Chrome, but I find it annoyingly intrusive. -
Working for me - I'm on the latest version 10.77.3

I think removing support a couple of years ago was a hint too! -
Hmmn. What Evernote version is that? None of my Evernote sidebars have a 'filters' section... What happens if you long-press or right click (or whatever)?

If you need more than Evernote offers, then do your editing in something that supports your need and attach that output file to your note. If you need the content searchable, just copy and plain-text paste it into Evernote to feed the index. I don't know whether i-frames are in Evernote's future, but you may be able to do something with a publicly shared note URL which should be visible in a browser. Note that anyone with the URL will be able to view it. Postach.io on the other hand helps 'publish' notebook pages as a blog. Those pages have accessible URLs - and can be styled in MarkDown if that helps... There's nothing 'official' in Evernote, but a bit of lateral thinking may suggest something you might use.

Olá - If the doctor no longer has the password for his account you will have to contact Support - https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?guest=true - for help. Use the issue type "Account" We are mainly other users here, with no access to user details. It may take some time to get a response - the Support team have been overwhelmed since the start of the year. When you receive an answer to your request please post the heading and references here - we can ask a Forum admin to pass a message to the support team to request priority. -

No, but my joined-up thinking suggests that more engineers will be free to fix those HTML/ PDF/ Print issues that everyone seems to be annoyed with, so fewer support tickets will be received and existing ones can be cleared by software updates... the existing staff can then get back to a more timely response. Another problem that company Support teams have is that once they're overwhelmed, it takes a long time to recruit and train new staff to deal with the backlog - and you won't need those extra heads once the backlog is cleared and when all the fuss about Legacy and price increases has (hopefully) died down, you may not even need as many staff as you currently have. You can hope that natural wastage and internal job changes will deal with some - but no company wants to be overstaffed 'in case' something bad happens... -

Because that frees up some of their engineers - who are maintaining dual access - to concentrate on other things? I don't know. But techs aren't usually consulted about higher management decisions and sometimes those managers are d.u.m.b! -

Can you give us some examples from your experience? -
If you frequent any of the other services - Adobe / Apple / Microsoft / Google etc - you won't find many techs answering individual posts. It's more accurate and consistent to collate your stats using support requests productive of an engineer's time to be fixing problems than discussing them diplomatic not to get involved with name-calling over personal preferences
