Account won't sync
gazumped replied to Rossco's topic in Evernote for Windows Issues (Versions 6.25.1 and under)
Hi. Syncing issues aren't necessarily to do with free account limits, though it's a frequent cause. You can get the server's opinion on whether your account has any remaining capacity via your browser by signing in to your Account Summary here. Evernote may nag you lots, but they don't withhold resources to which you are entitled. There's some help on syncing here - How to troubleshoot syncing issues -
Hi. I flagged your post for an admin to look at, meantime this help page might be useful...

It's obviously entirely up to you where and with what you save your data, but I don't see any legalistic jargon involved in the various ways in which information can be moved into Evernote, nor the fact that it is stored in a SQLite database format (that's 20-year-old tech) on your own local PC, or sent to storage on Google's servers (Google's been around for 22 years) where you can view it through a transparent flat database structure and search process (50 years old) on the Internet (depends on which bit you measure, but that's about 30-year old stuff). How my car works is pretty opaque to me, but I have no trouble driving it. As to 'current equivalents'... That's exactly what happens now in any one of a million note-taking apps, including Evernote. However: if you're not happy with the way it's done, then clearly you should look around and use something else. I'm (mostly) very happy with the way Evernote works, but that's my situation, and every one is different. Do let us know what system you eventually settle for!

It seems a little odd to be trying to find a specific file type stored in an app which features a flexible search engine by ignoring that feature and looking at raw DB data - which if changed incorrectly, will likely crash the app and corrupt the whole database. Evernote recognises and can search for a variety of resource types including: image/gif image/jpeg image/png audio/wav audio/mpeg audio/amr application/pdf -Why not find the attachment from within the app and export it as a valid file?

Pin notebooks to top of Notebooks pane
gazumped replied to dmoor's question in Evernote for Mac Requests (Versions 7.14 and under)
Plus - there are Shortcut/ Favourites in the left hand window. If you save a search for specific notes, you can add that saved search to your favourites, or you can drag the notebooks into that area and you'll have a shortcut directly to all the notes. Favourites can be dragged into whatever order you prefer. -
D & D did not load my image.

...And I'm confused. The top list view shows a list of several notes. Because it occupies several lines of space, selecting one note means only the top of that note can be seen - though it would be possible to scroll the note content up and down. The middle bar of the screen - the divider between list and note - can be dragged up and down to share the available screen space more to one window than another, but only so much can be done with the letterbox shape of the screen. The individual panels can also be switched on and off - so the list could be closed to allow the note to occupy the full screen. Another way to see more of the chosen note would be to use the 'side list' view so the note can occupy the whole height of the screen, or to double click the note name in the top list so that it opens in a separate window and has the full screen to itself. (And I found another post related to this issue which I merged into the thread) -
There's an Evernote community on Facebook - and there is a 'log in as guest' option on the help page which you could try. If neither of those work you could look into subscribing for only one month (subscribe for a year, pay monthly, downgrade your membership back to basic after the first payment goes out...) but AFAIK you have to subscribe to get assistance.

Hi. I understand your point to be that if you type the text http://www.google.co.uk you don't want it to become a clickable link. But as you see, this Forum - which is not based on Evernote's software - does exactly the same. It's a standard practice for most text processing apps. If you don't want to use the links, then just ignore them; it's not possible (AFAIK) to change the process.

Table Rows
gazumped replied to Shenval2's topic in Evernote for Android Issues (Versions 8.13.3 and under)
I have an old Note 4 (I'm a card-carrying luddite) which has a handy Samsung S-note function I use to write down random thoughts, plus it's a possibility to add a camera note to your database if the reading is written down or on an LCD somewhere, and of course there's a voice-note option for other occasions... All nothing to do with tables I appreciate, but they are ways to record data until you get back to the PC! -
Hi. There are no instructions because Evernote does not explicitly support importing notes and highlights from Kindle. I use Windows and Android (and a Kindle) so have no direct reference here for the Mac app, but it seems to me that Kindle will export notes and highlights in a variety of formats, and Evernote can import HTML directly or Clipper should be able to read an HTML file displayed in a browser...

There is an option you might consider - a third-party app called Postach.io which will automatically convert any note with the tag 'published' into a public blog page. There's a 'free' level if you want to try it out - which will allow one blog. You may have to pay (can't remember) to activate the possibility of protecting the site with a password. It still means you have to add the notes you want to share to a specific notebook - though you may want to still save content to your own private notes, then add some comments and/ or edit the narrative and duplicate your own note into the blog notebook. As an example of what that can look like I offer you this rather amateurish version of mine... (I'm working on making it better, honest!) - You might also want to make the acquaintance of a rather natty little app called https://typora.io/ - it allows you to format your posts in ways that Evernote doesn't normally support...

Hmmn. Sorry then - the issue seems well above my (un)pay grade. I can only suggest you try @EvernoteHelps on Twitter to see whether they can assist. Final suggestion - when you're logged in on Windows, have a look at 'connected devices' - if you have more than two (plus the web app) that can cause problems... Understanding the device limit

Hmmn. That happens to me on occasion. Usually because Evernote is busy doing something else. When that does arise I have (courtesy of Outlook 2013) a 'one click' button - a programmable utility that will complete an action. In my case it's 1) forward the email to my Evernote account address and 2) delete the email. If you have something similar (or not many emails) you could simply forward emails to your Evernote account one at a time (for separate notes) or in small groups (for related emails to be aggregated into one note).

Single note widget
gazumped replied to dguillaume's question in Evernote for Android Requests (Versions 8.13.3 and under)
Hi. You're posting in a 3-year old thread, and Evernote has changed a little(!) over that period, though sadly if all you want is an easy-access to-do/ check-list then Evernote is hugely over-engineered for your use. There are hundreds of free apps that will do exactly what you need. Good luck in your search... -
Cannot Sync On Any Device
gazumped replied to paddycook's topic in Evernote for iOS Issues (Versions 8.24.6 and under)
Hi. If you're on the latest 'new, improved' Evernote app, check these forums for other comments about the recent update. As you are subscribers, it's possible to raise a Support request via email here It's not unknown for syncing to be difficult occasionally - if there's an important note you need to save, it can be sent to your account address at the server by email. Also: How to troubleshoot syncing issues -
Hi. Interesting question, but I can't think of a way to do this outside of scripting in Windows. There are apps that will detect a file change and take action - like DropIt! - but they won't work inside Evernote. As @DTLow has pointed out, Evernote won't carry out this sort of check. Only compromise I can think of would be to keep the note as a 'template' in a folder n your hard drive, and to have DropIt! watch that folder for changes. The up to date version of the note could then be saved to Evernote. You'd have a series of snapshot copies which could be deleted after an interval. The easiest way to make this happen is simply to keep your text note in Evernote and have a desktop shortcut to open the note (either in a browser or within the Evernote app) so you can add changes. Save and close the note and it will go back to being saved in Evernote.

Title picker when merging
gazumped replied to aarcher's question in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 6.25.1 and under)
There's an option to include the title when merging notes (in Tools > Options). I occasionally get the order wrong too - and just copy/ paste the correct title from the note body. -
Print to PDF shortcut in toolbar
gazumped replied to aarcher's question in Evernote for Windows Requests (Versions 6.25.1 and under)
Hi. I don't imagine Evernote would want to have to create an infinite number of toolbar preferences for all the possible output variations that users might want... The Windows Print dialogue box should have an option to set PDF as a default option, and Phrase Express or Text Blaze can automate standard texts and execute simple commands, so should be able to set up 'print to PDF' from one keystroke. -
