  1. My pitch here is that since we can easily copy note links inside the app, it should also be possible to copy notebook links. Embedding that link in a note or external document should produce a view of all the notes in a specific notebook in exactly the same way that clicking the notebook name from the Notebook view does. I've seen the occasional request for a link to a notebook before. My use case is now project-related. I use software external to Evernote to prompt me when I need to check progress on my latest project - WD3* for example - and while I've experimented with using a 'control panel' for my project so I can link to a ToC note listing all my WD3 notes, maintaining the ToC note is an extra task**. If I could just link to a notebook containing all my WD3 notes, then Evernote's existing lists would do the job. I've played with various work-arounds, and while command-line access is possible in Legacy, and web access is available by simply copying the URL of a displayed notebook list, grabbing the link with a native command would be easier, quicker and more efficient. Use or otherwise of the link is inherently optional - if the feature exists users will be able to access it if they wish. * WD: World Domination ** currently run by Filterize, but that's another external third party app... Vote top left please, if you agree....
  2. I'd doubt it's an oversight as such. The app is being (re)developed from very little in the way of features. To avoid having to update translations each time you add a new process, you wait until it's pretty much complete and then add translations. An unfortunate result of a complete rebuild - though of course all languages are still available in Legacy...
  3. Me too. A lot of more experienced users are sticking with the old versions until the bugs are gone from v10 and it's a closer match on features.
  4. Hi. No similar reports that I'm aware of - what versions of Windows and Evernote do you have? If the issue continues... https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote
  5. Sorry - I thought you were aiming to export a notebook and decrypt any protected content. The script is a nice find, but I tend to use different passwords on individual notes, and usually save a hint in the note. Plus I use PDFs because they can include images and other content that Evernote encryption doesn't (didn't) include.
  6. I have an undoubted aversion to cold and snow, but that doesn't stop them happening. I just deal with the situation and get on with life. I'm pragmatic about stuff.
  7. Everyone is still unproductively arguing the same points - it was a disaster / the company didn't respond / missing features / Legacy is a stop-gap / support unavailable... Reality check: it happened already. We are where we are. Nothing more to see here - please move on. I played this theme before, but - Evernote supports 250M users. That's like running a country three-quarters the size of the USA. These people all need 24/7/365 access to servers, storage space, support and processor time. They're a big company - the largest (I believe I saw quoted somewhere) repository of curated user data on the planet. Big companies don't communicate well, and they definitely do not 'apologise'. It invites litigation. IMHO they screwed up big time, and it will take a while to work towards recovery. But they are clearly moving swiftly in that direction, with 8 update releases on most version 10 apps so far. Meantime you have choices. Find another provider (quietly please) that better suits your needs. Stick with the new version and factually report issues and queries as they arise. Avoid anything to do with this and stay on 'legacy' old versions until you feel inclined to come in from the cold. AFAICS anything else is just unproductive wingeing - we all have tasks to complete; lets find a way to work around any issues and just get things done.
  8. If it was that easy there'd be no point to encryption. Also downloading notes so they're decrypted seems like an excellent tool to have if you want to browse someone else's account at your leisure. Encrypted PDFs could be exported with their notes, so all you need to do is find all encrypted notes and convert them...
  9. Hi. Full description please - what device / OS version? is this a new install / update / upgrade? can you provide a screen shot of the 'frozen' app?
  10. This is my situation with Evernote. I know the Legacy system works - I've been using it for some years now. Still am. If I have to change from it, then I'll re-evaluate and consider my options. But (MHO) all the "OMG it's a disaster" reactions are an irrelevance - there's an easy fix - just use Legacy. V10 should never have been released in the way (and in the state) that it was, but I can understand that there were practicalities that had to be observed. And - it happened already. There really is no going back. Except for Legacy. I don't plan on trying version 10 until I absolutely have to, because it will mess with my head and cause me work. If it's still unusable then, the one constant in life is that I'll still have stuff to do. I'll find a way to get it done. This may, or may not, include Evernote. Any speculation about their solvency, intentions, management style etc is just that. Like most big companies Evernote don't discuss their intentions in advance. There is no hard information. They'll do whatever they decide is necessary. All we can do is use the app, or not. Your individual choice, but I still am...
  11. LOL have to get a bigger halo... 😇 Some of the things that Dynalist says are unavailable in Workflowy have been made available - some still in Beta, and others are possible with various add-ins. And I've been using WF for years - it does grow on you... (YMMV!) I run WF in its own separate Chrome window (open in browser as normal - go to three dots menu - more tools - create shortcut - open in own window) so it's always open (like Evernote). I just tab into that window to start noting; and - there's no 'new note'. Just pick a vacant bullet and start building sub-bullets under a title. The content is fully searchable and #tags and @labels are pretty cool too. Dates are now a thing, as are images and file uploads (both currently beta) - though the general attitude to uploads is: "don't save anything you'd hate to lose". Use beta.workflowy.com for the additional bells & whistles. There are a ton of Youtube videos around. Former Evernote Guru Frank Degenaar 'adopted' Workflowy a while ago and has in-depth guides on Youtube. He also wrote 'the book' on the app (including how to colour sections, bullets and tags!) EDIT: Just as a caveat - I'm not totally casual about the arrangement of things - temporary notes are fine anywhere. Some will get copied/ moved into Evernote, and anything that stays in WF will get moved to the correct place in my overall hierarchy. Oh - big positive too: every. single. bullet. is shareable with variable read/edit permissions. This bullet is called 'example-stub'... https://workflowy.com/s/example-stub/7eEN3KzuV67vG1qg
  12. Fair point. Full disclosure - I (mostly) use three monitors so there's always some free real estate where I can park a window. I have used Vivaldi notes and others to keep track of presentations, but these days I use Workflowy for ad-hoc notes - again that's an easily reachable browser tab Ctrl+<number> or pop-up window (Tab) in Windows. Workflowy lets me re-order and hierarchize (thought I made a new word - turns out it already exists...) any points easily, then I can copy and paste the usually more coherent package into Evernote.
  13. I'd think that would get in the way rather than be a help - and aren't there already hot key shortcuts to open a new note/ capture what's on screen? Plus - other major Legacy features like import folders and local notebooks first please. This may be a 'nice to have' but I don't see it as a priority. YMMV - if so, please vote - top left of the page here.
  14. Actually you should have several options to share... There are a few ways you can share multiple notes with others, depending on their familiarity with Evernote and the level of security you need on the note. The easy way - just Share in Evernote https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005417-Share-notes https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208314748-Share-notebooks - your users need to be familiar with Evernote usage Public shares - (obviously not for anything confidential) Share all the notes publicly and 'note' (sorry for the pun) their public URLs. Create one or more Table of Contents notes according to the logic of your note-tree. Replace the links in those notes with the public links. Add a link back to the top level ToC to every note. Email a link to the top ToC to your users and sit back and let them browse their mini-website. via a Third Party App Have a look at Postachio which will turn a notebook of your choice into a publically available blog. It's customisable in different ways - and access to the blog can be password protected if necessary. Postachio - https://postach.io/ Example blog (mine) - https://cliffeactual.postach.io/ (It's maintained by adding or updating notes in an Evernote notebook)
  15. In that case I apologise for the snark. But really - if as a free customer you take your custom away, you're actually helping the company!
  16. You've used software free for 10 years and don't see any irony in complaining the service has gone downhill? If only they'd had the funds from somewhere... oh wait...
  17. Hi. Various online services can export notes and notebooks to various formats for backup purposes - see https://support.cloudhq.net/how-to-backup-evernote-to-google-drive/ for more on that. There is no practical way yet (AFAIK) to multi-select and export from notebooks in any client... yet. It is possible to export notes by individual notebook in the desktop versions - select "export Notebook" by right-clicking the notebook name from the notebooks page.
  18. Hi. If you just carried out a major house-clearance it will take a little while to sync to the server and display correctly. If your layout is still incorrect after 24 hours I'd suggest contacting Support.
  19. Hi. Try checking online - sign into Evernote.com which should contain all the notes you have synced.
  20. Hi. It's good practice - particularly with important information - to keep one or more backup copies in different places in case of situations like this. Unless you can find the note in the Trash notebook, or have a system backup that might have included a copy of your Evernote database, it's unlikely that it will be possible to re-create it. Have you checked the server copy of your database for this note by signing in to Evernote.com?
  21. Hmmn. Not quite sure what the difference is, but it is significant. With web.clip I get roughly 7.5K hits, with web.* I get 9.5K I tagged 140 of the wildcard version, then searched for any web.clip notes that also had the wildcard tag. I got 5 notes! Beyond the fact they're all complete web pages - no images or short paragraphs I can't see anything special about those notes. Maybe someone with a smaller group of hits can process the whole lot, tag the larger series and then see what's special about those notes.
  22. Difficult to see how this is a v10 issue, though some other users have reported issues when syncing between v10 and legacy databases - if there's no sign on the web, there's no possibility of this note being in a different account altogether, and you've checked in the Trash in both Evernote and your PC, your only hope is if you have some system backups that would have included your database at an earlier time. There's really no other place to look. 😕
  23. Hmmn. Anyone can send a note to your account if they know (or guess) the correct address, so as @ArjenC suggests I certainly recommend that you change the address. In fact Evernote has some detailed instructions about security which you might like to consider... https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004395487-What-to-do-if-you-suspect-unauthorized-access-to-your-Evernote-account
  24. Hi. You're posting in an Evernote Business thread. Is that the version of Evernote you're attempting to load? Also what device / OS and did you get the installer from Evernote.com?
  25. Oh the temptation... but no - I think you're exactly right. Import folders still exist in Legacy, and if you can create the files in PDF or word, they'd be imported to notes - PDF files could be readable inline, word files would not be.
