  1. Earlier, I put a post in the iOS Evernote 10 feature request forum for Siri support. Upvote it.
  2. I used to have hundreds of notes I'd invoke by voice and now that isn't possible. This should have been in the release notes. Does cross platform parity mean these OS specific features won't be coming back?
  3. Also still having this duplicate note issue on iOS Ver 10.0.4.
  4. I’ve had a 2018 iPad open for days with screen lock set to off and Evernote on screen. Doing this to get a few selected notebooks to download offline. Woke up today and there was a permission message on screen for notifications “allow Evernote to send notifications,” but Evernote had shut down. I’m guessing because of this or something else to do with Evernote. Shrug. On this iPad it seems like the notebooks, eventually, will download, but on a fast connection with mostly text notes and an iPad left on constantly it shouldn’t take days. On my 2017 iPad Pro, it’s a different story. I’ve also been trying to get the same notebooks to download offline. The green progress bar will move about this far —— on screen and then won’t progress further. Sometimes , it will progress that far and completely reset as if it has downloaded nothing. I can’t edit or access any of these notes while they are being downloaded.
  5. I really like some of the UI changes. Search autocompletes, quicker access to editing, quite a bit actually. However, core features are not functioning properly at all. I get: note sync conflicts, notes copying and copying themselves, offline notebooks won’t download (green progress bar progresses then goes back to zero), notes can’t be edited when notebooks are being downloaded, can’t save anything with the iOS clipper, etc etc.
  6. Sounds about right.I was enjoying the note retaining position longer too until I noticed a sync conflict was created with only one ios device open to Evernote. That note duplicated near 30 times and clicking delete on it did nothing. @Amystoneus are you also downloading offline notebooks to your ipad or phone? I'm on a blazing fast connection and left ipad open to Evernote all night and the downloads have only moved a millimeter on the screen. I'm guessing servers are slammed on their end, this could be part of the issue.
  7. Heya, I was referring to Amystoneus's comment about sync conflicts on ios 14. I develop some ios stuff so very familiar with RAM management in ios 13. Evernote *is* is retaining it's note position longer in ios 14. I can't use it on ios 14 because I get exponential note copies due to sync conflicts - on three different devices. Close all devices except one and still get sync conflicts simply tapping edit on a note. That's off topic to this thread though.
  8. Yep, sync conflicts all over the place with this new IOS version. Can't use mobile at all now. I've installed fresh on every device, still the same. Also, left ipad open overnight to download offline notebooks and a tiny fraction of notes were downloaded. Connection is fast here. What is going on?
  9. This will give you an idea of the power of bi-directional links: https://reddit.com/r/RoamResearch/comments/giei3w/bidirectional_links_how_is_it_different_from/ they are different than tags in that they help you quickly synthesize information and connect ideas without losing flow. Many new note taking apps are adding the feature.
  10. Cool, I hadn’t thought of using a spreadsheet. I’m using Apple script for a couple things already and was thinking this would be part of my approach. Have never gone over any of the dev tools or api. Will look into that!
  11. I'd like to search all my notes in a granular and consistent way that unearths relations between notes based on keywords etc. Has anyone found a way to do this with tools outside of Evernote, something that works with a large amount of notes? Devonthink - tried and wasn't into it. Export to all notes to pdf, convert to individual text files regex search it. Time-consuming and limited. Some kind of easy to use AI that I'm not aware of? Anything else?
  12. Agreed. Marginnote has this feature and you can even change the color or tag the highlight etc etc. I mostly read PDF or EPub in Marginnote and send highlights to EN, but there is a ton of other stuff I’d like to be able to easily highlight in EN.
  13. Agree, still frustrating and with yesterday’s iOS update (which addresses RAM management) still happening. As a workaround, putting EN split screen I’m now getting freezes if I copy text in any app it’s split screened with. No other apps I’ve tried freeze when paired and split screened. Please make sure you put in a support ticket so it gets prioritized.
  14. I’ve bagged on Evernote and complained about it many times as this is getting worse. But to be fair, a big part of it is iOS RAM management. There’s tons of complaints about that being worse in all apps, especially IOS 13 onward. Notion is great for some things. Their iOS app is terrible and it needs off-line data and ability to scale well with lots of notes. Now, it gets super slow with many notes. Evernote just built out their new beta editor so they can add new features. I give it eight months before I fully choose between the two.
  15. Not sure if it’s a the latest dev beta of iPados, or EN, but swiping away from the app and back to it the carrot/cursor is going to last position in the note. Thanks for that
  16. Nice try twisting my words. Note “taking” yes I do believe it is. It works great to email notes into, the clipper on many platforms is top notch, I use Siri voice shortcuts to notes all the time. Going into notes and actually using them, like doing a basic bit of formatting can be trying. Working with/pasting something into a note you’ve already made etc. Hopefully, the new editor helps with this. But the timeout issues have gotten much worse over the years.. Doing research, sometimes calls for swiping away from even split-screen quick then going back to “unexpectedly quit” messages and note timeouts. I make sound apps which require heavy DSP and I know the RAM limitations on iOS well. For years we’ve been able to use multiple instances of AU apps on iOS with huge sounds libraries and then reload a project and bring back all instances from its saved state. I can call up many notes via Siri on top of each other and they don’t time out in the same way. The iPad is capable of holding notes without quick timeouts. That’s not asking for much.
  17. Of course, every possible orientation. On the iPad, copying from any app to Evernote I often get weird zoomed out note issues (among a handful of others like cursor carrot bounces in editor) when copying to a note split-screen. Split screen isn’t possible with an iPhone. I partly use EN for things that require creativity. I’m not looking to retread the same ground every day, sometimes life calls for serendipity and novelty, especially when dealing with a large amount of information.
  18. It’s good for scaling a large amount of notes, number one at that definitely. The problem for me is retrieval and working within notes. Can’t stand how 30 seconds away from the Evernote iOS app refreshes it, so I lose where I was meandering. Imagine being zapped back to the start of a long walk whenever you paused to inspect something interesting?
  19. Please make sure to send feedback in the beta feedback app. This way Evernote knows about it and Apple makes it a priority to fix it, if it’s on their end.
  20. I’d hold off updating the iPadOS beta builds from yesterday and today. Evernote notes aren’t rendering at all with offline or online notes.
  21. That’s true, and one step in the right direction.. Was a fan of the Mohiomap easy solution, but maybe one day it will be worth a DIY side project.
  22. I just posted something similar here and then saw this thread. Looking for something similar and preferably not able to be able to be read by the company serverside. Probably asking too much on the last part.
  23. Won’t activate for me with 2fa on, anyone else had luck with that?
  24. Yea, there’s a rate limit for EN mails and third-party API’s for this kind of stuff. Seems to remember something like 30 per hour for email and something like that for ifttt. I once took a lot of time to route a bunch of gmail to Evernote via ifttt, then deleted the email. Only to later find out they weren’t all routed (there were no you’ve gone over the iftt limit notifications back then). Next time, I’m thinking some kludgy work around like gmail to Thunderbird export to html to Evernote just so I know they get there.
